About Diane Vreeland/ Carol Null

I am a traveler and adventurer. I have visited and stayed in almost all of Central America. I have done outreach programs in some of them.

I moved here from Kennebunkport Maine after selling because my daughter lives here after graduating from COA and teaching now. I am involved in the community and love the seasons except winter.

I have been very fortunate to have had the tenants that have stayed in my home. Some have come back for 5 years now. I am easy to get along with and go out of my way to help some. I know how important vacations are for families.

Why Diane Vreeland/ Carol Null chose Town Hill

I love living on the Indian Point Road just 13 minutes to the center of town. I don't like crowds and this fits the spot for me. It is like country and quieter but so close to things. People love to bike this road and I love to walk my daughter's dog to the bay. I love to garden and proud to have these values and there is a farmer's market on Fridays just a few minute from my home. A country store that has everything along with ice cream. My tenants find it very clean and comfortable and have a good time.

What makes this house unique

I choose this property to build my home on because it was away from the crowds but easy to access all the other villages on the Island. I had room for a garden and enjoy landscaping.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We spent a week at Deer Run mid of June this year. Immediately when you drive on the property you are struck by how nice everything is and the when you open the door to the home you will realize that it has been furnished with care and is very clean. Everything we needed was there. The location was perfect for us, quiet, near a trail and a quick drive to all park entrances and downtown Bar Harbor. The owner has a studio apartment above the garage on the property. She is very nice and concerned that all guests have a wonderful time. She was never intrusive only very helpful whenever we had a question. In fact we would have loved to spend more time with her. We brought our 5 year old son and he had a blast. We had a great first visit to Maine and are happy we stumbled across this cottage.

Hopefully this time it took my review. I apologize for the delay. Please let me know if it made it through and the 3rd time is a charm.

I've stayed in many homes through VRBO and this by far is the best. Meticulously clean, beautifully furnished and perfectly well stocked kitchen. It was so very quiet but close to town and the park. About a 15 minute drive to Bar Harbor town center. Acadia national park entrance nearby.

This cottage and its owner were both delightful!

  • 5 of 5

This experience was a wonderful vacation location! The owner was gracious, friendly, and genuinely concerned for our well-being.The cottage was cozy and comfortable with furnishings that added warmth and familiarity. Traveling to this new location for us in the fall turned out to be a great idea for the fewer people and quieter venues. The cottage's kitchen was very well equipped and convenient. Returning here is a very real possibility for us!!!!!!

The home is amazing, bright, comfortable and cozy! The decorating is very interesting, antiques and traditional all rolled into one cohesive look. There is something interesting to look at every where . The location is quite, yet convenient to everything. We loved it!

This is our second time staying at 'Dear Run.' Solidly built, well appointed, quiet house on the quiet side of MDI; 18 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor, 12 minutes from Acadia's Hulls Cove Visitor Center, & 8 minutes from Hancock County-Bar Harbor airport. Friendly & accommodating hostess.

This home is within easy access to Acadia National Park with hiking trails and over 50 miles of carriage roads for biking. If you prefer, utilize the Island Explorer, a free eco-friendly bus shuttle service which is within walking distance to explore the village of Bar Harbor. There is also a nice 15 walk to the bay just 100 ft from my home and a pebble beach at low tide. Brewery with restaurant just 1 min away and a wonderful bakery with sandwiches, and a market.

There is a fresh water lake with sand beach about 3 miles away and lots of shopping to do on those rainy days or sit and relax and do nothing. We also have Kebo Valley Golf Course with a full pro shop and clubhouse restaurant on the Island.
