Great hidden away in the woods Family Vacation Home, well kept and plenty of room for all! Loved that it was so kid friendly! The grounds are beautiful and quiet and house is clean and comfy
Dear House owner & manager,
As a family from a busy city, all we need is away from all the hustle and bustle to retreat and refresh our energy.Your home is just a perfect getaway location for us, as it is located up on hill surrounded by woods with a beautiful pond. Our kids had fun chasing frogs, paddling boat and fishing during the days and the varieties of games and toys you have in the house kept them busy after dark. There is really nothing that is lacking in the house, my family had a great time and we are already looking forward to come back in autumn to see the color changes. Thank you to house manager for keeping it so clean.
We were there for a very, very cold snowy Presidents weekend and had a wonderful time. House is clean, cozy and warm. Very homey. When not skiing at Killington (an easy 45 minute drive), we enjoyed the board games and playing in the snow. My husband made a lovely fire in the fireplace. The satellite TV was nice so that we could watch the Olympics and the Wi-Fi was very handy since there is no Cell service in Middletown Springs. We've been home for two days and my husband is trying to figure out how we can get back there again before the end of ski season and the kids are talking about "when" we stay there next year!
The home was very beautiful and clean, you walk into a beautiful large kitchen, dining room and family room combo with a large stone fireplace, to which we used each evening with enjoyment for family conversations. The ground have spectacular view, for my fall foliage viewing, we enjoyed the walking around the property. We were a set of 3 couples, so each couple had there own bedroom, Along with there own bathroom, there was a room for one more couple in another bedroom and also a bedroom for 3 more on single beds. From this property we visited the Quechee Gord, Lake George, NY and then just travel around for the foliage. We ate breakfast at Sissy and the food was excellent. I'm hoping to return next year, so much more to see. The owner was very accommodating for us since we did arrive a few hour earlier than check in time, we appreciated that. I would recommend highly to anyone wanting to visit Vermont!
We found this property to be located far from the maddening tourist crowds, nestled in a quiet Vermont valley, clean, maintained, and welcoming. The property's open social spaces, wonderfully kid friendly spaces (as well as, multi-aged books and toys), and the immediate access to swimming during a brutal heat wave, combined to make our multi-general family stay our most memorial.
We are sincerely grateful to the owner from sharing this treasure and look forward to perhaps starting a yearly sojourn to this jewel.
This is the first time I've ever rented a vacation home over the Internet, so I was a bit nervous, but this house had everything that was promised in the online write-up, and more. The house is large, comfortable, and beautifully situated. The grounds are very well-kept and the views are indeed gorgeous. Plus the serenity of being surrounded by nature and calm (I live a few miles from NYC) was wonderful. The problems were few: we couldn't get the DVD player to work, so we watched movies on our computer. Some of the kitchen appliances could have been cleaner. But the grill was a real plus, most supplies were abundant (we did run out of toilet paper and had to buy a roll), the amenities were plentiful. We brought up bikes, but a warning to occasional cyclists: Vermont is hilly, so sooner or later, there will be hills to struggle up. Still, I managed the ride to Poultney and back (about 14 miles, total), and lived to talk about it. All in all, a great house in a very good location--about 7-10 miles ride to real civilization (other than the Middletown Springs country store), but centrally located enough to visit anywhere in Vermont.
Conveniently, it is just a short walk to the heart of this village and historic springs. The home is located just minutes from Lake St. Catherine, Lake Bomoseen and Green Mountain College. There is easy access of 3/4 hour from Pico/Killington and Okemo. Nearby shopping includes Poultney, Rutland, Dorset and Manchester. Activities include biking, hiking, fishing, rowboating, swimming, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing.
