I have always wanted a vacation home in the Palm Springs area for my wife and two children. We currently live in Santa Barbara and often visit Villa Del Sol to ensure that the property is being maintained in excellent condition for all clients.
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
Ruth Hardy Park which is next to the Movie Colony is very centrally located and minutes to downtown Palm Springs. In addition, there is easy access to wonderful resturants, golf courses, tennis courts, Tram, Palm Springs Air Museum, and more than I can list.
Our property has complete privacy and is gated as well. Further, we are in a quite neighborhood for your rest and relaxation.
This home is in a quiet, residential neighborhood, about 3 miles from downtown Palm Springs. Yet, for having paid over $600/night (double the price listed on VRBO!) I expected everything to be in perfect working order. And it was not.
When we pulled into the driveway for the first time, having been given a garage door opener from the management company, I attempted to use it, but nothing happened. The garage door wouldn't open from the inside, either. I did not need to use the garage door, but having been handed a remote, I would think it should work.
Once inside, the place was roomy and clean. The kitchen and bathrooms have been redone and are clean and new. The bedrooms were also clean and worked. The disappointment came from the pile of little -and a few bigger- things that were shoddy or didn’t work.
I was not able to get any thing more than cool water from the kitchen sink, making washing anything well, not possible. A few of the light switches sizzled as you tried to turn a light on or off. The channel up button on one remote didn’t work, and the volume only worked on another remote. The door mats were unravelling, faded and curling up, a tripping hazard rather than anything welcome. I was looking forward to the pool-side basketball hoop, prominently displayed in a photo, for my son to enjoy, but there were only half-deflated balls and a pump with no pin.
Eventually, you could get warm and hot water from the bathroom sinks, but it took so long, I mostly went to bed with clean teeth, but was too tired to wait for the water to warm up to wash my face.
The hot tub was lovely, but the water had a greenish tint. There were fans with lights in each bedroom. If you pressed the right button with the right amount of pressure, you could get the light on. One room’s light remote didn’t work at all, but a switch in the room labeled “porch” actually turned on the lights!
Overall, the place was good enough… but for the money, I felt bamboozled.
By investing some, the place could be brought up to speed and be the luxurious place it looks like in the photos. Adding some bicycles would also make the most of the flat landscape and the home’s proximity to downtown.
We have just spent three idyllic weeks at this five star rental. Our family of seven met here for Christmas and New Years. The home and yard and all amenities were just perfect for us all, aged 9 to72 years. The pool and hot tub were immaculate and well maintained and heated to exactly the temperature we had prearranged for. The basketball hoop on the pool edge was beyond perfect for an 11 year old who spent countless hours jumping, dunking, fading away.
The kitchen was absolutely fully equipped with excellent quality stainless steel cookware, and plenty of it, plus all manner of cooking and baking supplies. The appliances are top notch, all in great working order, easy to operate and to keep clean. The gas range is a dream.
All rooms were as shown in the pictures so did not disappoint anyone.
The state of the art washer and dryer were a treat to use. The entire house has loads of storage in each and every room.
The dining table being adjacent to the full wall of windows and glass doors overlooking the pool is a stroke of genius! What a truly beautiful setting to enjoy our meals in.
With unusually cold weather this December, we so enjoyed and appreciated the cosy gas fireplace.
We would return here in a heart beat! There was plenty of room to all be together and to be apart as need be.
We arrived at Villa del Sol on a Saturday night. The house was perfect for our family on the surface. Great toys, great space, pool awesome, very clean house. Then we realised the dishwasher and waste disposal didn't work, the hot tub wasn't working, the pool cleaner wasn't working, 2 TV's ( the kids rooms ) weren't working. I left 2 messages, zero response. Then on Monday at 7 am we were woken by 3 areas of construction all backing directly on to the property. Jack hammers, cement mixers etc. After numerous phone calls with the agency they told us to go find a hotel and we wouldn't have to pay for the nights we didn't stay. We have 3 year old twins, a 10 year old daughter and my elderly parents who travelled from the UK. We don't even know where to start looking. The rental agency stated that they are under no obligation to tell anyone about this construction, so I just want to get it out there in case you're thinking of booking. We are so so disappointed and upset.
We just spent 11 nights at Villa Del Sol with our three children aged 7, 5, and 2 and my parents. This house was perfect for a family vacation. Everyone loved the pool and outdoor space. The house had everything we needed. The dining table was perfect for my dad to do puzzles while still enjoying the view of the kids playing in the pool. The backyard had a great mix of sun and shade to keep everyone happy... the retractable awning was perfect as it kept a nice bit of shade for our toddler to hang out in while her brothers enjoying swimming. The location is great and we had a wonderful vacation in the desert. I highly recommend for families looking for a place that is equipped for children. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home. We had a wonderful time.
My lady and I put together a couples weekend away with 3 other couples and had an amazing stay! The house was very open and cozy! We didn't really want to leave the house as the amenities kept us happy but when we did need to venture out we were located very conveniently to the golf courses and down town! Def can't wait for next trip as I will be booking the Villa Del Sol!
The house was EXACTLY as the photos depicted, actually the pictures didn't do it justice! House quality was amazing, every room had a flat screen, very nice fire place, spacious, clean and well kept. Each room and bathroom was dressed fittingly. It was beyond our ask and made our trip perfect!
We were able to really relax at the house and enjoyed spending time there, we never said, 'wished the house had this.'
The lawn chairs are blue as shown in one of the night pictures. The walk was a bit further than we anticipated into downtown, about 2 miles. We walked a lot but also cabbed a few times, approx $10-$3 after tip from down town to the house. No complaints, and every intention of renting here again regardless of the distance. Thank you, the house made the trip everything we wanted it to be!
The home is conveniently located near downtown Palm Springs, fine dining, public and private golf courses, shops, art galleries, Ruth Hardy Park, and is minutes from the airport. Palm Springs area activities include: world class golf, spas, tennis, swimming, hiking, Knotts Water Theme Park, horseback riding, aerial tram. A premium outlet mall is only a short distance away.
