We are property owners and managers in the beautiful Seattle area. We love it here and want others to have a great experience when visiting this fine area.
Jeanette Wilson purchased this house in 2006
We chose to buy this home for its unique old world architecture charm and the incredible dramatic western views of the Olympic Peninsula Mountain range, Puget Sound, and Sunset!
The home is located in the heart of the greater Seattle area, near Ballard, Fremont, only minutes away from downtown, it is a great central location, in a beautiful neighborhood. Great gathering place for families to stay at for nearby weddings in Seattle. Near Golden Gardens Park, the Locks, Zoo, local restaurants, and much more great attractions.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It was the perfect house for our family members, with a location close to our son that got married. Many sights and fun for adults as well as grandchildren. Thank you.
We had a great time staying here for a couple of weeks. The house has a lot of room including a beautiful deck. Jeanette and her husband were responsive and quick to address our concerns. Would definitely stay here again.
Great place to stay with a large group. Wonderful view! Owners were very helpful and responsive. House was in great shape as well.
This was a good home. The owner was great to work with and responsive. There was plenty of blankets and towels and other necessities and the directions were easy to find and use. Wifi was great. And the best part was the back porch with an absolutely amazing view, a grill and a hot tub! One of the highlights of our trip. The main floor rooms were comfortable however two of the bedrooms are in the basement and the set up is quite awkward - you need to walk through one bedroom to get to the other (aka the "in law suite"). The bathroom in the basement is also very awkward again because you need to walk through it and there are three different doors that access it. The toilet is not usable for guys really since it is lifted and the ceiling is low. Overall the whole house was great except the basement. The location was also great- a mile away from groceries and dinner and also a nice run to east lake and the zoo! Would definitely stay here again now that we understand the basement situation- maybe with less people.
The layout of the house is miserable. To get to the lower half of the house without going outside you must walk through a bedroom, the furnace room and the bathroom. If anyone is in the bathroom you must go outside the house. This hallway bathroom is very cramped, with the toilet up on a pedestal. The lower half the house layout is just an afterthought, minimally useful for sleeping, but any guests over 5 must sleep there. One bedroom does not even have a window. The lower kitchen is useless as there is not even a glass in it. The upper kitchen is very poorly stocked with any dishes or utensils of use. For the price you might expect at least soap for a shower or filters for the coffee maker, but nothing. An additional charge is made for over 9 guests, but there are only beds for 9. So you pay extra for someone to sleep on a sofa or mattress on the floor. The furniture is very tired. The highlight of the high cleaning fee was used condom wrappers next to one of the beds. Now that's service. But the porch does have a nice view!
We had a decent time at the house. The week we were there, Seattle had the hottest temperatures of the summer. We assumed, being from the Midwest, that everyone had air conditioning. This was not the case at this house. It was hot! Got up to 82 in the house every night. Even with the windows open and few fans that were there, it didn't cool down very well. It's a older home, and from what I understand, most Seattle homes don't have air conditioning due to the weather that they normally have. The house sits on a corner, with one of the streets being very busy. This causes lots of noise in the two upstairs bedrooms. The lower level of the home allows for separate living quarters with another small kitchen and living room. However, if you have anyone in your group that is older or handicapped, it's difficult to get to the lower level. The deck and view are gorgeous overlooking the city and the mountains and Puget Sound in the background. The hot tub was enjoyed by our children. We had a few minor concerns with the cleaning people who the owners use. But other than that, our stay was enjoyed for the most part. My only compliant would be that the description didn't have a better idea of the small winding staircase to get to lower level (due to having a handicapped father) and that it didn't state the busy street noise. We did not think much of the air conditioning since we had heard about Seattle's wonderful weather. So just be aware of that when booking in mid-summer.
Had a guys trip out to Seattle to watch some baseball. Everyone enjoyed the house and did not hear about any issues. We enjoyed the hot tub and the view the house offered. The location was great as it was a quick drive into downtown depending on traffic and a grocery store was only a few miles away.
The house looks like it was a converted from two units to one so the stairs going downstairs are tight. In the end, it worked for us without much of a problem.
Recommend the house if you'd like to keep everyone together on a trip and need more than 4 people in a house.
The property is located on the cusp of three very dynamic neighborhoods: Ballard, Fremont & Phinney Ridge. These neighborhoods abound in unique boutiques, restaurants, pubs, cafe's & entertainment [Seattle Live Music]. The Farmers market is located in the heart of Ballard's charming Historic District, a diverse & abundant display, showcasing the exquisite Pacific NW bounty & its many skilled Artisan's. And for food enthusiast it is not to be missed.
