Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a very nice stay at Russel's house. My wife and I got married the weekend prior, and stayed here as a weekend mountain getaway prior to our full honeymoon in the fall. It was exactly what we needed. A rustic getaway in a quiet setting surrounded by wildnerness. While staying there, we took a long hike in nearby Linn Run State park and found a bunch of wild leaks, which we used to make Potato Leek soup in the fully equipped kitchen. It certainly made us want to have our own mountain getaway.

This was a perfect spot for a quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was well appointed and very clean. It was not hard to get to and was far enough from the "crowd" to be a perfect relaxation spot. The first impression was small and cozy, but there was actually more space inside than the first glimpse revealed. There was an inviting living/ kitchen area with a wonderful fireplace, and three bedrooms, but the two decks and fire pit area were the topper for us. We were able to sit on a comfortable chair and enjoy the birds and wildlife from a great vantage point. It was a cooler couple of days when we were there, and the roomy hot tub on the deck was very nice to look at, but was unfortunately in a state of disrepair when we arrived. I called Mr. Reed and left a message about it, and there was a man there the next evening to start repairs on it. I hope that the next guests were able to enjoy that amenity. We chose to eat at the nearby restaurants while there (Oakhurst Tea Room had a buffet that was tasty and very reasonably priced and only about 12 minutes travel time) and did not use any of the available appliances. There were also several televisions with DVD players and even some DVDs! We would definitely stay there again, as it is an easy drive and a nice getaway for us. We plan to make arrangements again for the fall. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone who wants to break away from the hustle and bustle to sit back and hear the birds sing.

Good

We really enjoyed the cabin. Everything was there and we didn't have to bring much which was nice. It was close to the ski resort which was also convenient. The only

thing that was an issue was a mouse sighting in the middle bedroom.

We would most likely return again in the future.

Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over Thanksgiving, and the property exceeded our expectations. The hot tub was clean and hot! We had plenty of room with the three bedrooms and spacious great room. The online description was accurate, no surprises when we all arrived. The State Forest is only a few hundred feet down the quiet road, and we had unexpectedly warm weather. Trails and quiet forest surrounded us as we explored the nearby hikes. One of the best parts of our trip was the spooky story nights at the fire pit. Plenty of wood is chopped and ready to build into a fire, surrounded by Adirondack chairs and benches that made a great family time. There are two areas for outside dining, a picnic table and an outdoor dining set. The property is stocked with DVDs and VHS with TV's for everyone. There are games, puzzles and a fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher. There were plenty of large towels - we even had enough with all our trips into the hot tub! By the way, there is a roof over the hot tub so it doesn't matter if it rains or snows. Enjoy!

excellent relaxing pond skimming weekend!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at falling timber cabin during the pond skimming event at 7 springs and had a blast! the cabin was huge inside! What I loved the most was the very relaxing hot tub and the huge kitchen with an amazing bar. I brought my 3 year old son and husband and it was a weekend to remember. It was so clean and organized and the great thing is you can take you pets along! there was a large fenced in area for the dogs and a nice deck too! I would do it again in a heartbeat. The cabin was in a vey nice secluded area away from everything and other people. total privacy! Thanks so much for everything Krista Reed!!!
