Beautiful vacation chalet located in the desirable Birch Hill area at the end of a private and quiet cul-de-sac. This home sleeps up to 10 people comfortably with forced air heating and central air-conditioning. Enjoy stunning views of the mountains and Cathedral Ledge from the brand new (Nov 2012) high end hot tub located on the back deck.

The kitchen is well fully equipped with appliances (new oven June 2016) and many extras to provide you many of the comforts of home including a new gas grill (Dec 2014) on the deck. A dining table seats 6 in comfort and a center island with four stools provides additional seating. As you would expect of a home, there is ample silverware, plates, bowls and cups for your party. We also provide pots and pans for the stovetop, oven to table dishes and a new (July 2013) crock pot is available, on request, so that you can plan to come home to a hot meal.

There a 3/4 bathroom off the kitchen. The living room has vaulted ceilings, an oversized river stone fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the mountains. Three sofas, an armchair and other stools provide seating for the whole party allowing you to relax in front of the fire or TV alternatively watch the game of pool or air hockey on the 7’ combination table (new April 2016). For your viewing pleasure there is a new (July 2013) 42” smart tv, TW HD cable with a DVD player. For the children in your party (no age restrictions) there is a variety of games in the cupboard under the loft staircase and an electronic darts game on the wall.

In the large open loft space (17x28) above the kitchen area there is a queen bed and 2 full beds. There is plenty of storage space in the form of storage chests and a small chest of drawers. In addition there is a foosball table (new Dec 2015) for the young at heart.

A fully fitted basement provides comfortable accommodation: Located in the lower level are two spacious bedrooms and a full bath with a washer and dryer. The master bedroom has a 27' TV, DVD, a sitting area, and a walk-in closet. The other bedroom is newly carpeted (July 2012) and sleeps four in two built in bunk beds and has a 20' TV, DVD, VCR player.

Outside on the lot, we have ¾ acre of privacy, surrounded by trees on 3 sides and no-one over looking us. The ground slopes quite steeply in places that enhances the stunning views but the meadow style area gives plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors.

This is a beautiful home offered at an exceptional value. Book now and do not miss the opportunity to create precious memories with family and friends.

Book securely on-line with HomeAway or VRBO, or contact the owner for alternative options.

Why Paul Bolden chose White Mountains

Step through the front door and just look at the mountain vista through the full glass wall opposite and you will be blown away, just like I am every time I am there.

What makes this chalet unique

Large and comfortable, a well equipped home from home. I spend between 5 and 8 weeks a year here myself and it is maintained to be my home as well as yours. The views across the deck to the Moat mountains from the house or the hot tub are always enticing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Relaxing weekend, great hot tub!!

  • 5 of 5

The chalet was homey, not glamorous, which is why we liked it so much. The kitchen had a lot of counter space and was well-equipped. The master bedroom and bunk room were on the lower level and shared a bathroom. The other sleeping area was in the large loft which overlooked the living area. Caution was needed when navigating the stairs up there; it was easy to hit one's one's head if not paying attention. The bathroom for the loft was located on the main level. The chalet is out of the way and quiet. The WiFi worked fine and the TV system offered a lot of options. Downtown North Conway is about a ten minute drive. Cathedral Ledge and Diana's Bath were a similar distance. But for our group of 4 adults and 2 children, the highlight was the incredible mountain view from the living area and the wonderful hot tub on the deck. It was heated up and ready to use on our arrival. What a treat. It was a perfect temperature and no jumping out to reset the pump. In the evening, especially, it was paradise. The owner was easy to deal with and picking up the keys was a piece of cake. We'll be back.

Hidden Gem is the Perfect Place for a Family Vacation in NH

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned home from our North Conway vacation. My husband and I have 3 boys, an 11 year old and 7 year old twins. We have always stayed at hotels in the past, but wanted to try something different this year. We are so glad we did! What a difference. We will never stay at a hotel in NH again!

Stepping into Paul’s home was like stepping back in time. As a child I vacationed with my family in NH and we rented houses. Paul’s house was full of nostalgia for me. Yes, the décor is dated, but that is all part of the charm and rustic feel of the cabin. It is classic North Conway…comfortable and homey.

We have always had dinner out when on vacation, but we loved this house so much that after the first night we decided to go grocery shopping so we could have breakfast and dinner at the house each day. As a stay-at-home mom who was looking for a vacation from that routine, that should tell you a lot! We wanted to spend as much time at the cabin as possible. The house had everything I needed to cook and prepare meals for my family.

We thought the layout of the house was fantastic. Plenty of room to spread out. We slept in the basement which was perfect for our family. The kids were close by and yet we had our own spaces. The beds were very comfortable. I can honestly say it was the best sleep I have ever had during a vacation. At hotels I usually toss and turn several times a night, but here I slept through right from the first night.

The boys loved the pool table, foosball table, movies, etc. They kept saying it was the best vacation ever. My husband and I loved the tv and the easy to use Wi-Fi. The view from the deck was gorgeous! Sure beats the view of the parking lot at the hotel! The house was very peaceful and calm. It was also clean.

As for suggestions, definitely bring alarm clocks and towels. There were a few towels to use, but no alarm clocks, at least in the basement bedrooms. It would be helpful to have extra hand towels as well as we could only find 2. We also brought nightlights. I would suggest bringing both warm & cool clothes in the summer. The whole house has a/c, but it is one zone so the basement tends to be very cold and warmer upstairs.

We received our deposit refund right away. Great location for visiting Storyland & Santa's Village.

I highly recommend staying at Paul’s house when you visit NH. It was one of the highlights of our vacation and a place we will never forget. Thanks, Paul, for everything!

A great family vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

We have been to the mountains many times but this was our first time staying here and it was amazing! From the veiws to all the ammenities and games for the kids. We couldnt ask for anything more. The house was well kept and clean. My husband who is a very picky person when it comes to where we stay was very impressed and the kids loved the hot tub and the air hockey table. We will definitely be staying here next time we visit the mountains.

Thanks for a wonderful and relaxing vacation

Great location

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at this property for two weeks in May-June 2016.

The PROS:

- The owner, Paul, is friendly, helpful, and responsive.

- Property manager, Valerie, is also very attentive and friendly.

- Location is great: tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with mountain views, but only a ten minute drive from town.

- Open floor plan and deck with hot tub for lots of family together time. Many entertainment options (pool, air hockey, games, books, tv, wifi).

Needs Improvement:

- It could be A LOT cleaner. It had been vacuumed and tidied prior to our arrival, but that's about it. The kitchen counter had dish soap spilled on it, and some of the nightstands/end tables had sticky spilled-beverage rings on them. The carpets are dingy and need to be shampooed, and the edges of the carpet (where it meets the walls, and the stair risers) had a ton of accumulated dust, lint, hair, etc. caked in them. The couches were covered to hide enormous stains and rips, but the covers themselves were visibly dirty and in need of a good laundering. Many of the bed pillows were terribly stained. The control panel for the coffee maker in the kitchen was completely covered in sticky residue. The bathroom floors were only clean in the middle, not along the edges or behind the toilet. There was sand and jewelry at the bottom of the hot tub.

- For a party of 5, we found there were barely enough towels and blankets. Most of the towels were stained and/or frayed. There were only 2 washcloths. The bedsheets were pilled, some were threadbare.

- Kitchen supplies: Only 2 hand towels and one dishcloth (and the towels smelled horrible - moldy - when damp). All but 1 pot and pan had scratched, flaking non-stick coating. Got teflon flakes in scrambled eggs and ended up buying our own skillets to use during our stay.

- Climate control: The bedrooms are located in a damp, dark, musty-smelling basement which really needs a dehumidifier. The basement is obviously MUCH cooler than the rest of the house, but the heat/AC is on one zone, so it is impossible to regulate the temperatures independently. The lack of light-blocking window treatments upstairs means that on sunny afternoons, the house is absolutely baking. But if you run the AC, the basement gets uncomfortably cold.

- No recycling pickup! We took ours home!

Given that there are many impeccably-maintained, thoughtfully-stocked rentals in this price range (we've stayed in several over the years), we would not stay here again.

Owner's Response: I was disappointed with this review, primarily since I had multiple conversations and email exchanges with the renter before and during the rental on many points of detail. At no point during the rental were any of the points raised with Valerie or myself. I have had many positive comments from renters both before and after this rental but there was clearly a mismatch in expectation on this occasion. This is even more surprising when the guest was in my home for two weeks without raising an issue. I will only comment on a couple of points. Firstly I state on my web page and in my rental documentation that towels are not provided. We do leave a few for emergencies but the comments are unreasonable on this basis. Secondly, if things are genuinely broken beyond use (skillets as stated), and I know this, I will replace them. A previous guest reported the oven had suffered a mechanical failure, it was replaced within 48 hours!! I could have been a lot quicker with a skillet. Finally there is no recycling collection offered in the town, I would use it if it existed. Once again though if I was aware this was important to the guest I would have made a private arrangement for their recyclables to be taken to the transfer station.

Great escape

  • 5 of 5

I was very pleased with my recent stay at Paul's house. I was chaperoning a small class trip to wrap up the year with 6 students, and this was the perfect place! Great location, great amenities, and amazing service. The oven broke during our stay, and it was replaced extremely fast (granted we had planned on cooking on the grill most of the time anyways). I would absolutely come here again, and I hope that I have the opportunity to do so!
