Guestbook comments from the owner

Our group of 18 had a wonderful time at both the Rusty Moose and the Red Cedar Lodges this past week. Everyone had private accommodations, and most had a private bath as well. We had not seen one another for 2 years, so the size of your lodges allowed us to gather in large groups and share our laughs and meals. The large dining table was terrific for all of us to eat together. Everyone agreed that the bedrooms and deck were perfect for our event. We loved the entire set up, and would certainly recommend these lodges to anyone! Thank you for sharing your property with us!!!!

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Had a most needed wonderful stay. We don't get to go away from our hustle and bustle of our business life very much and the Red Cedar Lodge was just what we needed. The views anytime of the day are a sight to just sit, relax and take in. I couldn't ask for a better view for my morning and evening cups of coffee. There was enough space for my teenage kids and the adults. We were far enough away from town life to enjoy peace and quiet, but close enough for us to drive and take in a couple shows and the new ferris wheel. We drove down to the public lake access and enjoyed a little lake time. The house was clean and well kept. I love being able to have a bigger home away from home with a kitchen instead of being cramped up in a motel all the time and having to go search for vending machines. I just bring what my family likes and we are able to feel at home and have family meal times with awesome views. Thank you Laura & David for all you put into your houses. Can't wait until next time.

Breath Taking Lakeviews--

  • 5 of 5

Hey Laura,

We just returned from another fantastic stay at your Red Cedar Lodge. Again, the views were just breathtaking! Thank you for all you do and provide. We cooked up a storm in the kitchen and didn't need for anything, exception for our own personal clean up crew--lol

We just love this lodge and so do our grand children--they call it their 'Cabin in the Woods'. Again, cannot thank you enough--tell David, thanks for the propane exchange--we cooked way too much--hopefully next time you both can join us for a glass of wine.

See you all next year--trying to get more to come--Keep looking over there at your huge Rusty Moose Lodge next door--dang that's a beauty--but our family is not that large--guess we will have to work on that--lol

Many blessings to you and david!

Disappointing

  • 2 of 5

We just returned from our vacation at Table Rock Lake and our stay at the Red Cedar Lodge. As a frequent traveler around the US and abroad and a VRBO fan, I rely on the reviews to make my decisions on where to stay. Based on the condition of the house, I cannot go above a rating of "fair". To start with the positives of the house, the bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The lower level was large and great for our grown children to have a place of their own. The views of the lake are absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The dishes and all cookware had to be washed before it could be used. The first night, there were no scrub brushes, so we washed by hand and scrubbed the dirt off with a dishtowel. The dishwasher worked, but was extremely loud and ran for over an hour. The side panel in the fridge was broken off and a wire was strung across to hold the milk and other items. Finally, when making pancakes, I was excited to find a hand mixer, unfortunately, it too was broken. We ventured from the kitchen onto the wrap around porch only to find several broken chairs. The final frustration came when the kids tried to play foosball and one of the pins holding the men broke in half. It was then we realized that it was held together with scotch tape.

I will say that Laura was very nice and very responsive. I emailed her several of the concerns after the first day. She seemed genuinely surprised and came out the next morning with a few new chairs for the deck, silverware, scrub brushes and a few pots and pans. Unfortunately, we were not able to relax and truly enjoy the accommodations.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest--I truly apologize for any inconvenience. Your email concerns we addressed immediately the following morning. We never supplied scrub brushes, but will do so now. The white sometimes left on dishes is hard water--so sorry about that--we are on our own well and hard water--named Stone County for a reason. When property was inspected when I brought you more pots and pans--I found 3 more pots in pantry and 2 more skillets in cabinets. But we have no problem supplying more. I turned off your left on coffee pot and inspected the dishwasher which was overfilled. We were not aware of the Foosball table of one arm being broken--so we took out--sorry for that inconvenience--it's very hard when guests cover up things that they break--then we don't get told about it or it's not discovered till much later. The chairs were not broken, but yes, some of the weave of the plastic was unraveled a bit--so we gladly replaced all the chairs you requested to be replaced upon your stay. Also added new forks and knives that you requested. Sorry, was unaware of mixer--I would of gladly replaced that too, if you told me--and have done so. We try to provide all the necessary things and have been told we go beyond supplying for our guests needs--but we will strive harder! Thank you so much! I wish you informed me of the others and those too would of been taking care of immediately. Have a blessed day and glad you enjoyed our beautiful lakeview home along with spacious accommodations and comfortable beds.

Beautiful cabin but needs a few updates

  • 4 of 5

Overall, the cabin was cozy and inviting... We enjoyed our stay immensely! The homemade bread and welcome note was a touching and welcoming gesture.

However, there were a few things that could use improving. Keep in mind this listing states it sleeps 12... We arrived to find the lower bathroom had about a half roll of toilet paper; the upper bathroom had one and a half. Luckily, this is a common problem in nearly every house we've rented and were prepared with our own. Another thing was three coffee mugs. Yeah, we had to make a Walmart run for Styrofoam cups. Also, because we were there three nights, we had to do our own laundry (towels) and that meant we had to purchase our own laundry supplies. When you advertise to sleep 12 (we booked for 3 nights), it would have been nice to have been provided adequate toilet paper and coffee mugs.

Guests should be made aware that the location is 20-25 minutes away from Branson attractions. Not a problem for us because we enjoyed the amazing view of the lake!

Would I book again? Absolutely. It is a little small for 12 people - but the owner was such a pleasure to work with and the overall experience was wonderful. It more than made up for the few inconveniences.

Owner's Response: So happy to hear you had a wonderful time! Yes, please see property description--we are 17 minutes to SDC and 20-25 minutes to the strip. I am here checking cabinets now and so sorry for any inconvenience!! Above the fridge cabinet is all the coffee cups--so very sorry!! My fault! And there is always extra toilet paper under the bathroom cabinets. Yes, we have a full size laundry room for you to do laundry. We put out as many towels as the home sleeps. I truly apologize for any inconvenience this caused you. We always send our guests to our personal website where you can find more detail info on 'What's Provided' tab. Bookbransonnow.com We so look forward to having you all come back and I will strive to continue to give our guests a memorable stay. And please, if you notice anything during your stay, please let us know immediately--for we are here to serve you, for we only live 15 minutes away from all our properties. Blessings, Laura and David/Owners

Wonderful, charming cabin. Just needs a few repairs...

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from our stay at the Red Cedar and had a fantastic time! The pictures just don't do justice to how charming this cabin is! It is beautifully decorated with all the space you could want. We especially loved how quiet it was so we could enjoy our amazing view of the lake, as well as the wooded hills behind the cabin. The beds were comfortable, and the rates were very reasonable for all that you get. However, there are a few things that are definitely in need of some attention. The dishwasher is an absolute must! It doesn't work, so we had to wash all dishes before we could use them, as well as (obviously) after each use. Spent a lot more time at the sink than I'd hoped to, which was a little disappointing since I see others had already mentioned this issue in previous reviews and in the guestbook. The rugs were all pretty dirty, and many of them caused us all to trip numerous times. We didn't need the a/c since it was winter, but we were glad we didn't once we noticed how dirty the filter was. The sliding door in the downstairs could barely be opened and closed. Clocks were out of batteries, some blinds and lampshades were needing repair. Just a few small changes would make this a 5 star in my book! If we make it back to the Branson area, we'd definitely want to stay in this cabin again! Thanks for a great stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much!! So sorry about rugs--been a very rough winter here in the ozarks, but no excuse--all have been replaced and carpets have been cleaned once again. We had a Lowes Tech check out the dishwasher and they could not find anything wrong with it--spoke to our last guests over this past weekend and said it worked just fine. So if anyone has a issue please contact our on staff maintenance personal immediately and I do apologize for any inconvenience that happened during your stay-all other incidentals have been taken care of -please always give me or my cleaning staff a call--we are here to serve you!
