Overview

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 11-15)

Enjoy tranquility with surrounding beauty in a world of its own in the Roan Valley approximately six miles north of Bakersville, North Carolina. Wake up to spectacular views of Roan Mountain and surrounding peaks. Rock or swing your stress away on the covered back porch from which you will often see deer or other wildlife. Enjoy coffee or a good book on the large deck surrounding the front of the cabin listening to the mountain creek that runs through the property and feeds two small ponds on the property.

Larger groups are welcome. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with 2 twins and the other with 1 queen. The master has a king on the main level. Downstairs has gas logs with a TV, 1 queen, 1 double, and a single bed.

Bring your horses, and take in other views from horse back. There is a barn with three large stalls and a two-acre fenced pasture that surrounds the cabin.

Hiking on the Appalachian Trail is less than ten minutes from the cabin, easily accessed at Carver's Gap. A short and easy hike from there provides views of five states on clear days.

Nearby Bakersville is home to numerous craft vendors with world-famous Penland School of Crafts within a 25-minute drive. Spruce Pine, Banner Elk, Asheville, Johnson City, Boone, and North Carolina ski areas are within 45-90 minutes. This is an ideal place for family and friends to escape the fast pace of culture and be refreshed with rich fellowship, taking in creation at its best.

Spacious and Welcoming

  • 5 of 5

The kids enjoyed chasing through dinning kitchen living area and hall, round and round. They also enjoyed the porch swing and wandering outside around the cabin.

Mesmerized by the Views

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our family trip and big enough to accomadate all of us with room to spare. The kitchen was big and had what we needed. Even though it was too warm for our snow tubing plans that weekend we went hiking and enjoyed the views. We spent the first night admiring all the stars from the deck! Kerry was very responsive, friendly and helpful. We would definitely return again to this wonderful cabin.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind review, and thank you for your flexibility with the weather. The stars are indeed spectacular this far away from city lights. I'm glad you enjoyed hiking in January, an unusual treat compared to most winters.

HAD A GREAT RELAXING VACATION!

  • 5 of 5

Its the 1st time staying in Bakersville, smaller and quite town compare to Boone, Blowing Rocks where we usually stayed. yet not too far to go skiing and snowboarding. Me, my husband and our young adult kids and their friends really enjoy our New Years Eve at the house, well maintained and has everything you need during the stay, TV, Game for kids and adult, Internet...all provided. Waking up in the morning, having coffee in the patio its so refreshing. The smell of surrounding Christmas trees and the view its breathtaking.. Cant wait to go back.!Thanks Kerry for sharing your place..

Extremely Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Expansive gorgeous views. The host are gracious and remain in touch without being intrusive. Love having a huge kitchen and the washer and dryer in master suite closet. Very convenient location to Biltmore, Little Switzerland and many more points of interest. We love having a full apple tree right outside the back door!
