About Bruce Hepke

My earliest recollection of Avalon is 1959. I recall the movie theater, Charlie's Hamburger joint, and Skee Ball on the Boardwalk. Some roads were made of sand and pebbles. We used to 'chase' the pesticide truck on bikes while it sprayed for mosquitoes up and down the blocks. My parents bought their own place in 1972 and my family bought this townhome in 2003. We have rented to many great families over the years...many of which contacted us to see how our house and my mom's house survived SuperStorm Sandy. Thankfully, other than 3ft of water in the garage, there was no damage. Reservations come in earlier with each passing year.

Why Bruce Hepke chose South NJ Shore

We believe Avalon/Stone Harbor to be the premier South Jersey shore town. We bought this property because of its roomy bedrooms and airy Great Room, multiple decks, proximity to town, & unlimited parking.

Great house and fantastic owners

  • 5 of 5

I've brought my wife and two kids up from Houston twice in the last 4 years (Philly transplant). The owners are great to deal with, the house is spotless, and it's in a great location. We'd highly recomend it and plan to return next year after we complete building our home here in Houston.

clean, well maintened a place to enjoy a vacation.

  • 5 of 5

The house is designed and kept for comfort and relaxation. It was difficult to leave such a paradise, this is without even going outside.

We did spend time on the beach, playing miniature golf, shopping in Avalon and Stone Harbor. Even when it rained, we went to the movies and got ice cream. Location allowed a day long trip to Cape May.

There was a folder listing all the answers to any questions as to the care of the house, moreover, folders for activities and restaurants.

Definitely, this would be an ideal house to recommend to people who enjoy quality.

Looking forward to next year already!

  • 5 of 5

I have felt so lucky to be able to stay at this property with my husband and young son the last 2 years, and look forward to going back next year. The owner is kind, efficient, and easy to work with. We rent a bunch of baby gear and linens and otherwise the house has everything we need. The location is great, too- we are so happy to be able to walk everywhere we need to go. This year, we loaded up our son's wagon with groceries from the store down the street and wheeled them back home! Now that we are home, even my toddler son keeps saying he wants to go back to the 'beach house!' We will be back next year!

Clean, Spacious and Convenient Beach House

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with this property. Bedrooms and full baths on three levels afforded each family segment to have their own space. There was ample parking, and several dining or take-out options within a few blocks. The main deck was perfect for happy hour.

Great location, central to everything!

  • 5 of 5

Spacious and perfect townhouse for a week at the beach! A well stocked home - we found it perfect for our family of six! Property was clean and owner was great at communicating with us ! First night there we had pizza from Tonio's, delicious! Mid week we are at The Diving Horse, a byob place with excellent food! Highly recommend eating here for an upscale dinner.

Beautiful home and excellent location

  • 5 of 5

The property is spacious, bright, and well maintained. Three decks extend the already large living space. The location is fantastic, with many choices to shop and visit such as local seafood, fruit stand, eat in and out lunch and dinner, coffee and specialty shops. Beautiful beach, natural dunes, jetty and Boardwalk to enjoy. Perfect vacation getaway.

The Jersey Shore is famous for its boardwalks, arcades, casinos, and seemingly endless miles of beaches. Avalon is an upscale town located on 7 Mile Island in South Jersey with easy access to Atlantic City, Ocean City, Stone Harbor, Wildwood, and Cape May.

A day's itinerary can include hiking, fishing, beach combing, casino gaming, golf, and a myriad of activities related to beach fun. Atlantic City, located 45 minutes to the north, is a symphony of excitement. From upscale casinos like the Trump Taj Mahal, to kitschy boardwalk eateries selling funnel cakes and Philly Cheesesteaks, there is something for everyone. How about a 6 mile trip to the best, little zoo that you have ever seen....a donation is your admission.

The boardwalk is filled with arcade games, restaurants, and people watching spots as are boardwalks at Ocean City and Wildwood (30 minutes from Avalon). Stone Harbor, the sister city to Avalon, provides more shopping and dining options just 4 miles away.

Other Activities: Boogie boarding, riding bikes on the boardwalk (bike rental one block away)

Golf: Courses located just off the island, include Avalon CC, Stone Harbor CC, Sand Barrens, Cape May National, Shoregate, and Wildwood CC. 9 hole family course at Clementon. Driving range at Sand Barrens is open to the public.
