About the property

Spacious Quiet East End Beach House, 2 bedroom, 2 full baths, 1,000sf. sleep 4-6

Our 4 Atkins Lane vacation cottage has many of it's original features from the 18th century and has been updated for comfortable 21st century Provincetown living. This is Old Provincetown. The cottage is located on a small private lane only steps to the bay beach. It is situated next to The Fine Art's Work Center's Gerrit Hondius Art Studio which has been associated with artists such as Motherwell, Sterne, Marantz and Bowen. It is quite an inspirational location. This beautiful bayside cottage features an open floor plan with huge eat-in kitchen, new appliances, a comfortable living room, bedroom and a full bath on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor is a Master Bedroom suite with queen bed, skylight, fridge, sitting area, full bath and a private deck. This is an ideal set up for 2 couples as each of the bedrooms are on separate floors and they have their own private baths and private entrances.

There are 2 patios and an outdoor hot and cold shower.

There is parking for one car right alongside the house.

Private beach access is perfect for kayaking, swimming, crabbing, tidal flats walking, beach volleyball or quiet relaxing times.

The charming east end is home to St. Mary on the Harbor, East End Market and Provincetown theater. Fanizzis and the Mews restaurants are right around the corner.

There is a lot to love about this house. My (very picky) husband liked that it was neat & clean & that the "updates perfectly balance" the antiquity of the house. Truly, it has very comfortable, lovely furnishings. The outdoor shower is clean, spacious, and private (I saw some in town that were not). The upstairs bedroom (attic), however, would be less than enjoyable for someone who dislikes musty or with allergies as the air conditioner and the carpet need either deep cleaning or replacing. The key to the upstairs was missing and, while we didn't ask, I'd hoped we'd be brought a new key as the inside stairs are not easy to use on a regular basis while the outside stairs are delightfully useful. The sandy floor problem from the earlier guest was resolved, so I'm sure these problems will be as well. Kathy was always responsive to my questions. Parking and the little unpaved alley (it does not have a street sign, beware) is tight, but our 2016 RAV4 managed it and the driveway. The neighbors are kind and we walked into town regularly bc it was so close and is such an enjoyable stroll. We even walked our guest to the ferry. We'd consider staying here again.

Best house for beach goers

  • 3 of 5

My group was 5 people all shorter than 5'10" so while the house was big enough for us, it might not be for taller/larger people.

-Very close to the beach. Probably less than 5 minutes.

-Clean outdoor shower.

-Nice grill big enough for my group.

-Well stocked kitchen with plates, pans, cups, etc.

-Owner was responsive

-Downstairs bathroom shower was dim and hard to maneuver in.

-Not as close to town as we thought. Car is needed or the walk is 15-20 mins.

-Road the house is on is very narrow so small cars are best.

-Sand everywhere in the house.

Owner's Response: Our cottage is in an antique home on a small, quaint, quiet lane with direct access to the bay beach. It is 1,000 sf with 2 full baths and an outdoor shower. The bathroom that was mentioned is fitted with an antique claw foot tub with a curtained shower. Our home is in the quiet east end historic and art district and is a 15 min stroll through the gallery district to the town center. We appreciate the feedback and had not had a report of sand in the house prior to this and will work with our housekeeper to address this immediately.

2 couples stayed 3 days in June. The house was exactly as pictured. It was on a very narrow street. getting in and out of the parking space was slightly difficult .

We only took the car out once. The beach was a short block away. This property is on the EAST END and most of the shops are in the WEST END. It was a good walk to most restaurants etc. The house was very clean. The decor cheerful and comfortable. Kitchen modern and well equipped . The bathroom was large and had bathtub with shower. There are two patio areas that are very quiet and comfortable. The upstairs is self contained. The inside stairs are fairly steep and with low roof ( taller people had to duck their heads). The stairs start from an area that is either in the bedroom or bathroom downstairs.

I would stay at this property again and would recommend it to friends.

Awesome home, would come back again!

  • 5 of 5

This property was great, we had five people and it was certainly enough room for all of us. Nice living space and kitchen area, we were only there for four days so we didn't cook but the kitchen is well stocked with anything that you would need to prepare meals. Having two full baths was Convenient with that many people. The patio area was a lovely place to hang out during the day and chat. The short walk to the beach was awesome and the walk into the center of town was a little long but totally doable. We got there and only moved the car once. In four days.

The 'far end 'market is right around the corner in you need anything

I would recommend this property and this owner, the experience was very enjoyable :)

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week in this this perfectly located property. Easy walk to the beach and to town. Great restaurants and stores close by. Perfect for our teenagers when they wanted to walk into town and we wanted to sit on the beach. Everyone could be happy. Upstairs was like its own little hideaway.

It was a bit hard to find the sun on the two adorable patios outside but they were relaxing anyway. We would definitely return.

Akron, Ohio

Pleasantly surprised.

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to know that the top floor was almost a suite on its own with a mini fridge, a separate bathroom and a deck with a separate entrance. It also had a nook with chairs. And the beach was just down the lane! We got to watch the seals migrating at race point which was amazing! The only minus was the Internet service was spotty and we had young children who didn't like the walk to the town center. It was close enough for us adults though. And the restaurants and shops were well worth the walk.
