For an unforgettable Alaskan experience, we invite you to stay in our beautifully hand crafted log cabin. Built on the banks of the scenic Chena River, Riverbend Log Cabins offers a peaceful and secluded 3 ½ acre setting that is centrally located between historical Fairbanks and North Pole Alaska. The rustic elegance of the Chinook Cabin is enhanced by the beautiful river view and surrounding boreal forest. Trees have been cleared in front of the cabin to provide an unobstructed view of Northern Lights. Abundant wildlife – moose, eagles, beaver, waterfowl are often seen from the cabin. Moose frequently visit the property – both during the summer and winter months.
The Chinook Cabin features lovely, comfortable furnishings and beautiful artwork. An outdoor log steam sauna provides a perfect way to relax after a long day. For enjoying the outdoors the Chinook cabin features a cobblestone patio with a gas propane grill, a log picnic table, a small lower deck with a handcrafted log bench, and a larger second story balcony with table and chairs.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a stove and oven, microwave, dishes, cutlery, toaster and coffee maker, refrigerator and everything needed for meal preparation. The cabin is stocked with complementary Alaska blend gourmet coffee and condiments.
The Chinook Cabin has two upstairs bedrooms each with a queen sized bed. Both beds have new mattresses that are fitted with 100% high thread count cotton sheets, soft blankets and comforters. The bedrooms have one adjoining wall that can be closed with a wood folding door. Each bedroom has a separate entrance. The larger bedroom has French doors that lead to an upstairs balcony with beautiful river and northern lights views.
There is a downstairs bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and shower and a half bath upstairs.
In addition to our Chinook cabin, Riverbend offers the Sourdough cabin. The Sourdough features an upstairs bedroom, a downstairs full bath with shower and a fully equipped kitchen. The cabin comfortably sleeps 1 - 2 guests. For more information on the Sourdough cabin, please see VRBO listing #465596.

Debi Hanson purchased this cabin in 2002
We both had a lifelong dream of building a log home. When we found this property, we 'just knew' it was the perfect land to start the process of fulfilling our dream. The combination of the serene riverfront location, the surrounding boreal forest, wildlife, wild berries and flowers gives the feeling of being in a sacred, special place. We made the decision in 2006 to build additional cabins so that we could share our dream with others. We thoroughly enjoy the wide variety of guests that stay in the cabins. We love sharing information and stories about our Alaskan lifestyle and hearing about the lives and travels of our guests.
Quiet, peaceful riverfront setting, centrally located between Fairbanks and North Pole, Alaska. The rustic elegance of the cabin, comfortable furnishings and beautiful artwork is enhanced by the gorgeous river view and surrounding boreal forest, creating a perfect place to rest and relax on your holiday or vacation. Riverbend's Sourdough cabin provides an excellent location to view and photograph the Northern Lights. (Note: Our property with the Northern Lights in the background is featured on the front page of the 2012 Fairbanks Vistior's Guide). Opportunities to view and photograph a variety of wildlife (moose, waterfoul, beaver & eagles). Fishing in front of the cabins, nearby hiking trails and centrally located to Interior Alaska's activities and attractions.
My Alaskan winter has been complete with my stay in this little "Oasis" the Chinook Cabin at Riverbend. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe how wonderful this place really is. The cabin is very well appointed, decorated perfectly, cozy and just plain adorable. It is situated on the river in a peaceful and tranquil se...tting which was very relaxing and quite enjoyable but there were many exciting things happening as well. There were fireworks over the river on New Years Eve, dogsled teams running over the frozen river, Aurora viewing from the balcony, Momma moose and her young in the yard, plus Santa and Mrs Claus paying me a special visit during the holidays! Wow, what more could you ask for? The attention to detail and the genuine kindenss from the owners, the Hanson's, have made me feel extremely comfortable. My stay was everything I hoped for and MORE! I cannot wait until I can visit again, Thank you Debi and Bruce!
Our goal was to experience the Northern Lights along with winter in Alaska. The unusually snowy weather added to the winter theme, and the location had us close to snow machine opportunities, dog sled rides, ice fishing, and Chena Hot Springs to name a few.
The cabin itself was great-terrific views from the balcony, toasty warm, two bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Its proximity to the river gave us fairly easy access even with the heavy snowfall. One night a moose bedded down against the cabin, and except for the tracks, we were clueless. It was well stocked and offered videos and TV for the times travels was iffy.
Debi and Bruce were wonderful hosts. Their offers to provide a needed item or to pick it up when in town was greatly appreciated. Assistance with Northern Light viewing was helpful, and the warming fire was a huge help. We left feeling we'd made two new friends.
I have no qualms in recommending this cabin to others.
Better than the pictures. Gorgeous landscaping and flowers everywhere.
Quiet. Actually a pretty good location (use the Fairbanks map they provide and it will be easy to navigate Fairbanks).Everything you need to cook whatever you want. It was a little buggy but you are probably gonna get that near any river in the area. And you are a minute walk from the river. The upstairs is cool and it is nice to have 1.5 bathrooms.
There are hundreds of little things that make it very very homey and relaxing. A great place to rent if you are actually going to hang out there (versus just sleep)..
We love this place so much that we decided to add our 1st review on TA.
Everything was perfect. Beautiful, warm and cozy private cottage in the woods. We booked 6 nights stay in Chinook Cabin initially but we loved this place so much that we ended up extending another 2 nights here.
A well maintained & nicely decorated cabin with a nice view of the frozen Chena River. Comfortable bed, fluffy pillows, cozy couch, endless tv channels, books, travel brochures and a fully equipped kitchen with drinking water, fresh coffee beans, teas and all kinds of sauces and spices you can think of. Heated floor kept us warm n toasty in the cabin at -30. Power and cables are also provided for winterized car right outside the cabin. There was even an outdoor sauna right beside our cabin.
Steps away from the frozen Chena river, 10 minutes drive to North Pole, Santa Claus House, and 20 minutes drive to Fairbanks downtown, this place is best for Aurora viewing. Dark enough during the night, away from the city lights, yet not too far away. Be sure to pop your head out the balcony religiously to spot the Aurora even if you have the Aurora Apps on your Hp. You never know when it's gonna come out and surprise you! When the chance come, just grab your coat and boots and head out to the frozen river for the beautiful view.
We felt so welcomed despite delaying our check in time twice and checked in really late at almost 9pm. A box of Christmas goodies, with tangerines, handwarmers, chocolates, hot coco mix and freshly baked blueberries walnut bread (it's out of this world!!!), together with a Christmas card, was already awaiting for our arrival when we checked in.
Debi and Bruce are both so friendly and nice. Molly too, their son's dog who pop by once to greet us! Debi came by and checked on us to ensure our comfort throughout our stay and even brought cheesecake she made on Christmas eve. Bruce helped and gave us advices when we planned to set fireworks at the frozen Chena River on our last day in Fairbanks.
We ended our stay with a blast at Chinook. Thank you Debi & Bruce for your great hospitality during our stay in Chinook! We hope to come back here again soon!
Pardon our lengthy review! We just love this place so much!
Awesome!!! Very informative and helpful :-)
Will definitely be back--Still need to see northern lights :(
4 adults stayed here came in extremely late, was welcomed with homemade banana blueberry bread and garden fresh tomatoes--yum yum and fresh flowers through out the cabin, wonderful touch made us all feel very welcome
There were five adults who spent three nights at the Riverbend Cabins and we LOVED it. We were warmly welcomed by the owners who greeted us with homemade fresh cookies and fresh tomatoes from their garden. The cabin was cute as a button, decorated with such detail and thoughtfulness, fully equipped with everything we needed. The owners loaned us their fishing poles and we spent hours at the river which was steps away from the cabin. The property was bursting with flowers, hanging baskets, green grass, a lovely picnic table, barbecue, chairs, a beautiful deck with more chairs and an umbrella and a gazebo across the yard for another picnic area. It was such a lovely, serene few days. My only regret was that I didn't book this for another day or two! Book now. You will be so happy you did!
We had a wonderful time at Riverbend Cabins. We stayed in the Chinook cabin. Perfect for our family of 5. We really enjoyed the outside area. Ms. Debi brought over a badmitten net for the kids to play. The homemade cookies she left us were AMAZING!!!! Very comfortable. We loved having the full kitchen to make meals and used the grill outside. Beautiful area on the Chena river. Would definently stay again.
