Local gem in small community away from normal tourist hubbub

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week at the Manini Point House with our two children. House is perfectly located to explore both sides of the island. We walked 50feet to the snorkeling area, and couldn't find another location better on the island. This home gives the occupants the feel of a local. Enjoyed a personal tour of the host's coffee and fruit plantation. If you like to feel like a local and want to explore the island, but have a home away from home this is a true gem.

Manini House is the Best

  • 5 of 5

Manini House was perfect. A beautiful home with quick access to the water. I highly recommend this home for anyone who wants to enjoy the peaceful coastline away from the tourist areas. Kailua-Kona is close-by to Manini House but without being in some crowded, cookie-cutter resort. The house is well equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and very special. The constant sound of waves crashing on the shore is very calming. within walking distance you can rent kayaks and we saw both whales and spinner dolphins in the bay. Our stay was absolutely perfect!

Owner's Response: Aloha and Thank you so much for your very positive review of our property here at Kealakekua Bay. It truly is a wonderful community and Manini Beach Park is a brief 2 minute walk away to enter the bay, or to picnic or just relax and enjoy the beautiful view of Kealakekua Bay, the mountain pali, a Hawaiian sunset and Captain Cook monument. Mother nature in the form of this beautiful Hawaii Island and the Pacific Ocean with fish, cora reefs, dolphins and whales in season make it one of the most impressive places in paradise.

Beautiful house with friendly and helpful hosts

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a week, with two couples and a two-year-old. The house was lovely and very comfortable. We spent most of our time on the generous lanai. Elizabeth and Steve were excellent hosts and very responsive.

We had the bad luck to arrive during a period of high surf on the Kona coast and weren't able to enjoy the water as much as we'd hoped to, but we still had a great time.

Tip: the upstairs master bedroom can get pretty warm. We discovered that opening the blinds and the balcony door to let the breeze through worked better than trying to keep the sun out. Likewise, downstairs, we mostly kept the glass doors and all the windows open with just the screen doors to the lanai closed to keep the critters out.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. High surf does sometimes dampen the swimming opportunities. The summer months are often more predictable in terms of weather. Fortunately, there is much to do on Hawaii Island! There are fans in every room, including upstairs, and I'm glad that by opening the upstairs windows and bedroom door onto the balcony, you were able to enjoy the lovely ocean breeze. We hope to see you again at Manini Point House. Steve and Elizabeth

A Real Treat in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We are frequent visitors to the Big Island and we always try to stay at this gorgeous home with 360 degree panoramic views of the mountains and the ocean! We love waking up each morning to the sunrise, the songs of the birds, the tropical breezes, and the sounds of local neighborhood activity. We especially enjoy spending time on the lanai - morning, day or night! - kayaking and paddle boarding out on Kealakekua Bay, and walking down to Manini Beach nearby to swim, snorkel, and/or read in the serene little park. This home is a great place to retreat to get some real R&R.
