Manini Point House--a lovely vacation home. Listen to the surf and feel the gentle ocean breeze. You will be glad you did.
Steve and Elizabeth built Manini Point House in 2005 because "We love the Big Island and wanted to build a home where couples and families can relax and enjoy precious moments together and know that they are in paradise. Our extended family often visits us in Hawaii and they look forward to their stay at Manini Point House. We live on Konacopia Farm about 10 minutes away, and are happy to take our Manini Point House guests on a tour of this special Organic Farm.
Elizabeth Kilpatrick purchased this house in 2005

At Kealakekua Bay, you will be snorkeling and swimming with reef fish, dolphins, and seasonal whales. Take a kayak tour across K Bay to Captain Cook monument. Manini Beach is a relaxing, very special place to spend quality time alone, or with family and friends. Manini Point House at Kealakekua Bay is a place to relax, enjoy and remember, and know that you made the right choice.
This open, beautiful home has a large gourmet kitchen and lanai so families can cook together. Everyone will want to sit down to a meal on the lanai. The outside and inside join together. Enjoy the Bali Hut for a few contemplative moments and the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. Care for a game of pingpong?
We are frequent visitors to the Big Island and we always try to stay at this gorgeous home with 360 degree panoramic views of the mountains and the ocean! We love waking up each morning to the sunrise, the songs of the birds, the tropical breezes, and the sounds of local neighborhood activity. We especially enjoy spending time on the lanai - morning, day or night! - kayaking and paddle boarding out on Kealakekua Bay, and walking down to Manini Beach nearby to swim, snorkel, and/or read in the serene little park. This home is a great place to retreat to get some real R&R.
The worst part of this beautiful vacation home was having to leave. The location is perfect for a beachy get away, the home itself is beautiful and comfortable (Thank God the beach was so gorgeous and close by otherwise I'm not sure we would have left the big beautiful front porch). The hosts were so thoughtful and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. I can't wait to get back here and highly recommend this home.
House was built as a rental property and has 4 showers 3 bed and bathrooms a nice large kitchen and hardwood floors other than that please see below
Property photos are deceiving and we're taken from neighbors property when landscaping was manicured low. The postage stamp size property photos were taken from vantage points to create the illusion of privacy. Please know privacy is not possible at this property.
NO AC in this house which leads to limited air flow so it is very uncomfortable at times between 10am and 10pm
Neighbors are friendly if engaged correctly but openly dislike the owners and are initially very leary of their guests they are also very concerned about trespassing due to previous bad experiences with guests.
Neighbors are 3rd generation locals and the vista from the house to the neighbors property is EXTREMELY unsightly with several tarp coverings used for outdoor living space also lots of dogs and cats with regular outdoor living, music and family activity starting at 9am until 10pm daily.
If the property was as it seems in the pictures it would be very nice with AC and or significant fans being installed and water views but as it is this is not a property I would stay at again.
We loved staying at the Manini Point house! The Kealakekua Bay is one of the nicest places on the island to kayak, stand-up paddle, and snorkle. Just walk a couple of very short blocks to the Manini Beach Park and wade in to find some of the best snorkeling anywhere on the Island. You can rent the kayaks and paddle across the bay to Captain Cook monument to snorkel with all the tour groups, but why bother - it's better right off the beach. Kayak in the early morning and swim with the spinner dolphins before they bed down for the day (we were there in October, and they were too).
The house itself is top notch. Beautifully appointed. Everything you could want in the kitchen. Gas grill on the Lanai. A lovely gift basket awaited us when we arrived with beautiful tree-ripened local fruit and a full pound of 100% kona coffee - what a treat! There were 5 of us in the 3 bedrooms and we had plenty of room and privacy. I don't think you could do better than this house and this location on the Kona side of the Big Island.
This is a truly beautiful house in a great location. Very near a small beach area with decent snorkeling, it's only a 4 mile drive to Two-Step, at the Place of Refuge, which is a truly astounding place to snorkel. It also is very conveniently located by a kayak rental place with which one can kayak to the Captain Cook Monument, another excellent place to snorkel. The house has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a large lanai, and beautiful wood floors. The kitchen is very well equipped and the lanai is a very relaxing place. Having a barbecue is another nice touch.
Our family enjoyed this ideally located house for a week. We enjoyed watching the geckos and relaxing on the lanai listening to the rain. We swam, snorkeled, and kayaked in Kealakekua Bay, visited other nearby beaches, and were invited for a wonderful tour of Elizabeth's and Steve's Konacopia Farm. Our generous hosts were the greatest guides and shared many of their favorite place to visit. We can't wait to return!
There is plenty to do on the Big Island! You will love learning about Hawaiian culture by visiting Puuhonua O Honaunau, one of the many historical sites with hiking trails and a gorgeous picnic area, or hiking to Captain Cook monument. What can be more enjoyable than swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving, or horseback riding in Waimea or golfing in Kailua Kona, charter fishing, shopping for local organic produce at Farmers' Markets? Visit Volcano National Park, see the waterfalls on the windward side, hike on green and black sands beaches at South Point. Visit Mauna Kea observatory. Zipline in Hawi or Hilo! Take a walk on the wild side with a helicopter view of the Volcano flows, waterfalls, snow on Mauna Kea, undeveloped landscape--the Big Island's gorgeous scenery! Or relax at Manini Point House, sip a cup of organic Kona coffee and walk to the bay for a swim with the dolphins! You will know that you are in Paradise!
