About Elizabeth Kilpatrick

Steve and Elizabeth built Manini Point House in 2005 because "We love the Big Island and wanted to build a home where couples and families can relax and enjoy precious moments together and know that they are in paradise. Our extended family often visits us in Hawaii and they look forward to their stay at Manini Point House. We live on Konacopia Farm about 10 minutes away, and are happy to take our Manini Point House guests on a tour of this special Organic Farm.

Elizabeth Kilpatrick purchased this house in 2005

Why Elizabeth Kilpatrick chose Kona Coast

Manini Point House is just 200' from lovely Manini Beach at Kealakekua Bay. K Bay and the surrounding area is a Hawaiian treasure. Manini Point House is located in a little village community and the neighborhood gives you an opportunity to visit with friendly local people as well as folks visiting from around the world. Learn about the Hawaiian culture while visiting historical sites including Puuhonua O Honaunau, Hawaii's national park, just 4 miles away. If you are looking for an alternative to a generic resort for your holiday, Manini Point House offers the opportunity for an authentic Hawaiian experience in a beautiful part of the Big Island. In K Bay, you will be snorkeling and swimming with reef fish, dolphins, and seasonal whales. Take a kayak tour across K Bay to Captain Cook monument to swim with dolphins. Manini Beach is a relaxing, very special place to spend quality time alone, or with family and friends. Manini Point House at K Bay is a place you will enjoy and remember, and know that you made the right choice.

What makes this house unique

The outside and inside join together. Enjoy the Bali Hut for a few contemplative moments and the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. Care for a game of pingpong?

we'll be back.

we had a heavenly stay. minutes away from Rufus and the kayak crew in the little bay to the south, a couple more minutes away to snorkeling at Manini Beach (truly a beautiful, serene spot), fresh mangos falling on our side of the fence from the tree next door, resident (outdoor) cutest green and aqua geckos, and perhaps best of all, being in the midst of spinner dolphins --- that one is just beyond words.

the house was beautiful and comfortable, exactly as described --- clean and spacious, perfectly situated. the upstairs great room master suite was terrific --- lit and ventilated by windows on all sides, a deck for sunset watching. once I knew what to look for, I could see dolphins from our bedroom. the lanai with the huge open sliding doors brought the outside in.

the kitchen is very well equipped --- more pots that I have at home! hard to think of anything wanting....

Wonderful home has everything required and lots more

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented the Manini Point House for a ten day vacation. It was perfect in many ways. It's spacious and beautifully constructed, with a big lanai that opens to the shared living room and kitchen area. The view from the top floor is spectacular and you can hear the waves from nearby Kealakekua Bay constantly. It's a quick walk to snorkel and kayak spots and a lovely waterside park, especially good for small children. The owners are very accessible and helpful. Everything you might need for cooking (or making tropical cocktails!) is available, even a waffle iron. The garden area is lovely. Nearby neighbors are friendly and quiet at night. It's a bit of a windy drive, 20 mins., to the main road for shopping or restaurants but the house is so lovely and comfortable inside and out that we didn't really like to leave as long as we had what we needed. The owners supplied a wonderful fruit basket upon arrival. Highly recommended.

BEAUTIFUL HOME!

  • 5 of 5

This house is truly as pictured. The hosts have thought of everything, there are even hampers in the closets for your dirty laundry. If there is a kitchen gadget missing in this kitchen, you don't need it. Gorgeous woodwork throughout the house, lots of Balinese furniture. Beds are comfortable. Very helpful binder full of info about local activities/tours. restaurants, recycling, etc.

Easy (even for this beginner) snorkeling access right at Manini Beach. There isn't a lot of sand as one might expect at a beach, but a large grassy area. Kayak (available for rental right next door) over to Captain Cook Monument for some of the best snorkeling on the island.

We went to Volcanoes National Park and Two Step Beach (more easy access snorkeling) from Manini House. It was our second house on our Big Island vacation, so we'd hit some other spots earlier. It's such a beautiful setting, it was easy to just hang out right there.

I would strongly recommend a car. This lovely home is off the beaten path. The roads to get there are narrow and curvy in some spots.

All communications with Elizabeth were prompt and clear.

Lovely house with beautiful spaces and a huge kitchen, and comfortable lanai.

  • 5 of 5

Very close to the beaches, enclosed by the dense tropical foliage of Hawaii, and peaceful. The house is comfortable and beautiful, clean and well stocked with everything one needs for one's stay.

Close by neighbors' noise is sometimes distracting, but this is both a neighborhood of visitors and locals, and part of the character of the area. Loved walking around and seeing all the different people who are part of the community.

Kayaking, snorkeling, swimming and beach relaxing are all with in walking from the house. Prepare to be charmed!

Note that the area is some distance (20+ minutes of hilly, windy driving) away from all services, so plan to bring in what you need to save yourself time and a lot of driving back out for food or supplies.

Would like to have had recycling set up for guests: with all the vacation style living going on, there is a lot that just doesn't belong in a land fill, and if there is a good system set up, it takes no time at all to sort things out.

Owner's Response: Aloha and thank you for the lovely review! It is every vacation home owner's dream to hear such appreciative words--it certainly is ours! We are taking your suggestion for better recycling to heart and providing another container as well as labels on the containers. The local disposal site provides for glass, mixed recyclables, green waste and trash but it does not take Hi 5's. However, the local canoe club makes the money from Hi 5's for the kids' program, and we support that effort. Thanks again for your kind words and good suggestion.

Welcoming, beautiful, so glad we had found it!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place for a reunion of four dear friends, 2 from Oregon and two from Nelson, New Zealand. The beautiful house with such careful attention to detail, and 2 minute walks to ocean and the great care from Elizabeth made this an enchanting 3 days to begin our exploration of The Big Island.

Wonderful!
