My husband and I love the beach. Having visited throughout the coastal areas of Florida we selected Alligator Point as our favorite beach location. Unlike other beach areas, Alligator Point is not loaded down with hotels, motels, and condos. Except for the marina and adjacent 'Tiki,' which is an on-the-bay bar/restaurant, Alligator Point has no commercial development. It is strictly a family beach. You will not be locked down in traffic jams, horns blowing, or bothered by noisy beer joints.
beverly Haughton purchased this house in 1987
First of all, this house is right on the beach - not a mile away or in sight of the beach or close but ON THE BEACH! There are no motels or strip malls cluttering up the area. This property had one of the highest elevations on Alligator Point which affords it increased protection in the event of a hurricane. Very important was the fact that it was one of the choice properties on Alligator Point in that it had the Gulf in the front yard and the bay in the backyard.
One of the biggest thrills is to be away from the awful traffic jams in Atlanta. It's really a joy to go out your front door, walk down the boardwalk to the beach, breathe that fresh salt air, sit in a beach chair and read a book, take a walk on a beautiful sandy beach or simply exude with nature at its best.
Dear Mr and Mrs Haughton,
Just wanted to let know that we had the best vacation I can remember for a long time. The house was perfect for our group and such a nice secluded place away from commercial attraction. We enjoyed what we did see Wakulla Springs, St.George Island and the aquarium in Panecea. Dale and Brad loved the golf course. And we loved the beach and the grandchildren couldn't get enough of the sea shells and swimming. The best time was had by all. It will always be in our hearts.Thank you for providing us with an excelant place to stay, just like being at home.My grandson kept saying (that is our house and we aren't leaving) Hope it was left in perfect condition for the next renters to enjoy.
We arrived to a clean orderly house and spent 7 days 7 nights of absolute perfection. The beach was quite and oh so peaceful. The sunsets and sunrise were breath taking. Enjoyed watching Dolphins, searching for shells, starfish and sand dollars. We couldn't bring ourselves to keep any...felt we should leave nature along for the next people to enjoy seeing. When Saturday came no one wanted to leave. We have found our peace of heaven at the beach...we are already checking calendar and family member's schedules so we can book for next year. Can't wait to visit again and stay in this wonderful home.
This is a great house located on a little piece of heaven. The beach was beautiful and we have fallen in love with Alligator Point and all of its natural glory. We previously stayed in the Destin, Rosemary, Seaside beach areas for many years. We chose this location because of the abundance of natural offerings and activities. We wanted to be away from the crowds and noise and we could not have picked a more perfect place.
The house is very comfortable and accommodating and is in a great spot on the beach. It was never crowded and there is an abundance of shells, crabs, sand dollars, and star fish to be found just outside the door. The screened in porch was by far our favorite place and where we spent most of the time when not on the beach. The kitchen was great and provided views of the gulf and the bay. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the outside shower. We ate at Angelo's, which was pricey but has fresh and excellent food, great service, and an awesome water view so no complaints at all and we will go back. We also ate at Posey's (you must try their hushpuppies) and it was also very good. We visited Wakulla Springs, which was a great trip- ice cream in the lodge and swam in the cold, but oh so clear, springs water. Perhaps my favorite part of the trip was the long walks along the beach. We walked to the right of the house to the rock and tree filled area (passed the shell tree) and it was absolutely beautiful. This is such a unique area and we will most definitely return and would absolutely stay in this house again. The owners were easy to work with and everything was exactly as it was described. We had a perfect family vacation and are so thankful we found this area and this property. Thanks so much
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this home! When I arrived the house was spotless. The layout of the house afforded amazing views of the gulf and the bay. I watched numerous dolphins feeding everyday. The beach was beautiful, great for taking long walks! I could have lived on the back porch. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting an amazingly relaxing vacation! No hotels or condos in site! Many nature parks located nearby. I saw manatee, alligators, ibis, dolphins, horseshoe crabs, jellyfish, just to name a few. I will return for another vacation to this wonderful home!!
This house and the location are even better than the photos! Every night there was a tide pool to explore. My children found too many sea shells and crabs to count. Every thing in the house was super clean. It felt like home. The views are amazing. The porch is perfect! We saw 10 dolphins not far from shore. We didn't want to leave, but will be back!
Our trip to Alligator Point exceeded our expectations! The house we stayed in was PERFECT for our family! The layout of the house was great for a family of five. The kitchen had everything we needed. The best part of the house is the screened in porch! We spent most of our time out there....morning coffee, watching ocean, eating meals, putting together puzzles, reading books, etc. The other best part of the house was the proximity to the beach and the bay! Just a few steps away and we were in the water! We wouldn't have it ANY other way! We ate out just a few times. Angelo's and Posey's were both excellent! We drove to St. George Island area one morning which was nice. Also recommend going to Wakulla Springs for lunch and boat ride over the river. Lots of wild life on the river! We will be returning to Alligator Point and would definitely stay at this house again!
This beach house was by far the BEST we have had in all the years we have come to Alligator Point and Bald Point.
A stones throw to the beach and the bay. The huge screen porch is the greatest! The breeze thru the house was wonderful! To see the sunrise out the front door and the sunset out the back was amazing!Love the huge freezer to store the tons of fish we caught and were able to bring back home with us.
The beach was wonderful! Perfect for shells and all sorts of critters.Excellent surf fishing and fun for the children (of all ages!)
So clean, plenty of room, excellent for children, and so relaxing to all of us! Thank you so much and we look forward to returning for sure next year. Thanks once again. This house is perfect!
