.........what we require of our guests. You absolutely MUST serve Charleston Tea (we furnish it) to your spouse in bed at sunrise. It gets 'worse'. Did you notice the bar stools and table in the first picture? That is from our upstairs balcony. You are also required to drink wine from our local vineyard (we furnish it) at sunset. This is all included in the contract that we will both sign. Intrigued? Please continue reading… I have been in the enviable position of owning two other properties at Wild Dunes - Seascape and Ocean Club. The Seascape property was valued at $700,000 and the Ocean Club property was worth $1,200,000. That was certainly ‘tall cotton’ by anyone’s standards. Alas - herein lies the rub - I was not happy. My greatest desire was to awaken in the morning, propped up on my pillow with a steaming cup of tea or coffee in my hand, look out a massive window directly onto a scene of waves crashing on the beach. Visualizing myself opening the sliding glass doors, I would hear the hypnotic crescendo of the rise and fall of the waves and feel the mist as it seeped gently into the room. The crowning touch was to watch the sun’s golden orb edge upward over the water as I sipped my morning beverage and basked in the glow. However, at both of the other properties, if I propped up on my pillow and looked straight ahead, I had a glorious view of the.....TV. I could have done this back home.
As you can surmise, I am a dreamer. My web site does not have a lot of meat and potatoes. VRBO when I last looked had 7 Port O’Call listings (#661, #41704, #20357, #7381, #9703, #52420 and #46431.) I would suggest that you check these out and compare. All of the owners have a common goal - we want to meet your needs and insure that you have a wonderful vacation experience. What makes us unique vs other Port O' Call villas is we are DIRECTLY on the ocean and have a third floor unit (no over head noise and better angle) allowing us a second story 'widow's walk' that leads to a deck above our screened-in porch overlooking the beach and ocean for miles beyond. The screened in porch below the deck provides a distinct advantage for the top floor units. (Elevator provided at no additional cost!) We can truthfully brag that we have the best view of the beach from both our deck and porch, without exception!
Our villa has been completely redecorated and updated from top to bottom when we purchased it in 2004 - we cordially invite you to enjoy our new furniture, ultra modern appliances, freshly painted and newly carpeted vacation haven. A large portion of the wall displays an original painting of a beach sunrise, while other signed and numbered prints create interior beauty that is only rivaled by the real and actual breathtaking oceanfront view. If you are reading about us on VRBO, take note of the first picture. At the top of it click on the video icon. That will help pull together all of our still pictures. If you are reading about us on HomeAway, I will send you a link to the video when you send in an inquiry.
We are proud to boast that we have the finest housekeeper in Wild Dunes. If you are so inclined, you may picnic off our floor without the benefit of a blanket. If you are one who loves a deal, let me assure you that if you can quote me a better price from someone else, I will happily beat it. ---Apples to apples---
We provide needs of those wishing WiFi that wish to use our wireless, high speed Internet connection to stay in touch with their offices. In one of the pictures you will note a desk that you can work from. We have installed a special screen for the window, that filters out the sun but not the vision of the waves lapping at the shoreline. Sorry, but you cannot stay beyond your week even if your boss calls me and says it is the most productive week of work you have ever had.
No one that knows me well ever accused me of embellishment! But since you and I are total strangers, and my writing may have an embellishing tone you are urged to click on 'comments' further down on the web page. None of them stand to gain financially from you renting our place. Their words come from the heart.
Location, location, location ! If your desire is to be at the beach, if you want to know it will be there right in front of you, all around you, 24/7, then this is the location for you. You can eat out at some of the finest restaurants in the South, play golf, tour Fort Fisher, or ride the bikes that we have provided for you. But what it all boils down to is the setting of our condo is all about the beach and one’s love for the ocean and certainly mine. Imagine our sadness for the past two years of watching the ocean slowly laying claim to our beach. But in the end it took us nine million dollars, two months, working 7/24 to claim it back.
The South has two major cities that reek of culture, the arts & history: Savannah and Charleston. It never ceases to amaze me I can have the beach and Charleston at the same time...two very different worlds, 25 minutes apart. They say Heaven is going to be a pretty nice place. In my opinion, it has some competition!
My first priority is to make sure we meet your needs. Much as we would like to have you rent from us, it is meeting your needs that is more important. To that end I have additional information to email you. Just fill out the form adjacent to this text. Ask any particular questions you might have. Hopefully I can answer them. Along with the answers will come the additional information. We only rent by the week all year round, Saturday to Saturday. There is one exception: you can rent January/February as an eight week block.

About MCCOLEGILL, LLC c/o Peter Cole, Manager
My name is Peter Cole. I am one of the owners. I went to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Presently live in Belmont, just outside of Charlotte, NC. I wear many hats: an oceanfront, resort, rental condo owner; property manager; rental agent; dog tender (That is Mazie in the picture. Spends most of her day on the rug by me at my desk.) and my favorite; loving husband to the beautiful woman in the picture with me. As a Medicare card carrying senior, I look back over a full life. My chosen life ‘occupation’ (my Mother could never bring herself to call it a job) was to take teens on a cross country camping trip; 3000 teens in all, spanning 33 years. My nephew, Doug Gill, slipped into my shoes as I stepped into my retirement. Now he has passed it on to Sassy Smyth. Curious? Do a google search, 'tctw'. My friends and relatives worried about my having too much time on my hands in retirement so they gave me their resort properties to manage. My reputation as a good manager/agent grew. Now 12 properties fill my stable. It was 1967 when I took ownership of my first rental property. In the years since, I have bought and sold 11. I come to you with a lot of experience. I do not take lightly the importance of your vacation. I want to match your needs with the properties I represent. There are 24 pictures, a video and lots of verbiage. I am here to answer all your questions.

Worst month ever!!! We arrived to find the apartment just as nicely appointed as the pictures had shown and looked forward to a month of enjoying the ocean and getting out of the cold. We opened a window to hear the surf and heard a faint beeping. Unbeknownst to us, or the property owner, a 20 million dollar beach restoration project was under way. Within a few days the site office, port-a-potties, tractors (with very loud beepers) and stadium lighting stationed 24/7 directly in front of the unit. Sleep was impossible and forget enjoying a peaceful oceanfront experience. We rented another unit closer to the hotel for one week and then spent some nights in a friend's guest room; but remained terribly disappointed. After some back and forth with Peter, we decided to leave early and he and his partners decided to refund all of our money. Overall, the month was a bummer but for the people coming in after us, I'm sure the newly restored beach (I think the beach is wider by at least a football field) will be lovely to enjoy. The unit itself was clean and well maintained. The area around Wild Dunes has many nice restaurants (we enjoyed Morgan Creek, Charleston Harbor Fish House at Patriots Point, and the Brown Dog Deli in Charleston). In short, we will probably return, but will definitely be sure to ask about any potential projects when we rent. FYI - as we looked for another unit to rent it was obvious that March tends to be the time construction is done in Wild Dunes (for ex. Shipwatch pool was under construction and similar projects were being done around the area)..... make sure to ask about construction projects when renting. In the end, although our experience was less-than-stellar, Peter and his partners did the right thing and handled our situation fairly. This is a rental worth considering. Had it not been for the restoration it could have been the Best month ever!
We pride ourselves on going the extra mile for our tenants. We want them to feel like they are our good friends and have come here to be our guests. Most people are attracted to us because we are directly on the ocean, but what is being offered is more than that. As I mention some things compare us with some of your other past rentals. Wake up in the morning to the sound of waves, go to the front door to get your Charleston newspaper and have a cup of tea (the tea we provide you comes from the last tea plantation in America). Go on a bike ride (we have provided them for you changing them out each April). Grab a magazine from the coffee table. It's current. Hit the beach. We have beach chairs for you, two different styles, replaced each year. End of the day enjoy a glass of wine that we have provided. Wine comes from our local vineyard. Best place to enjoy it will be the upper deck as the waves come in and the sun sets. Sounds perfect doesn't it? And for the vast amount of our guest it is. Take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm a promoter, not a renter. READ THE REVIEWS. These are the people that have already walked in your shoes. They see the place as it was, and they are the ones to tell you what to expect. Now let's go to the Review of March 2018. Walk in her shoes but save room for our feet because we need to walk in them as well. We want you to know that we will always do the right thing. Her particular review is more important than all the others. She speaks to the core of our being. To the best of our ability we will not let you down. We are constantly aware of our responsibility. Your week at the beach has to rank up there as one of the most important events of your year. 'Show and tell' is over. Come see for yourself.
You have thought of everything to make your renters feel welcome. We enjoyed the bottle of wine, the Charleston tea, and we brought home the pen and pad you provided. The condo is beautifully decorated and furnished, very clean, and stocked with an entertainment center, movies, books, and two very nice televisions. We enjoyed our relaxing stay immensely.
The reviews didn't lie. It's perfect.
We stayed at Port of Call F-302 in late October, 2017. I have nothing but rave reviews of our experience, from the initial inquiry to the post stay follow up. We arrived exhausted from our trip to very easy access to the condo as well as a delicious bottle of wine greeting us in the entry hallway. The condo was immaculate and just as described in Mr. Cole's well thought out and amusing description. He had me hooked from that alone.
The condo was spacious and well laid out. The bedroom was glorious. The mattress and bedding were comfortable and exceeded our expectations for an excellent night's sleep. The screened in porch provided many hours of restorative relaxation for our weary souls. I loved that we could access the porch from both the living room and bedroom. This provided a nice breeze throughout the condo. We spent several afternoons up on the widow's walk since it was the next best thing to actually being right on the sand. And yes, it is beach front. Your toe is practically in the water from the condo. My goodness, what a fabulous location! Can I just say....perfection?! I loved having a straight shot to the condo from the parking lot as well as having the elevator right there in the middle of the building where the condo is located. Even better, we did not hear anyone using the elevator so it was in a great location without the noise usually associated with elevator access. There was a closet for trash right by the elevator which was emptied daily and allowed us to dispose of our trash with ease.
We like to cook. The kitchen was stocked with needed supplies although we brought some of our own with us. There are several fine restaurants nearby for when you do not wish to be in front of the stove. We drank all of the tea. You definitely can taste the difference between this tea and the bagged teas I usually purchase from the grocery store. We didn't know until this trip that the US had a tea plantation.
A vast selection of current magazines were arranged on the living room table. I rarely get a chance to simply chill and read but I think I managed to look at most of them during our stay.
Wild Dunes Resort as a whole is just beautiful but the attention to detail by Mr. Cole to ensure his guests have nothing but the best experience made all of the difference in the world. We will definitely be returning for future vacations. This property has our highest recommendations.
Well appointed, pet-friendly, thoughtful owner
Here's what is DIFFERENT and BETTER about this condo than other oceanfront choices in the beaches of Charleston SC.
1. The owner (Peter Cole) is extremely thorough in communications and has thought through every aspect of your stay and been proactive to provide you everything or every answer you may need. A keyless lock entry so you don't have to keep track of keys, bike pump for the provided bikes, a binder of instructions that answers most any question you have, bread knife, hair dryer, terrific full size washer and dryer, beach chairs and toys, umbrellas, etc. I got a bug bite and I found lidocaine spray in the beach supplies closet, they are that thorough and thoughtful. It's the kind of place where you think to yourself, "I wonder if they have a (insert item here)...?" and then you go look for where you'd keep it in your house, and there it is! They even put "high top" table and tall chairs on the widow's walk so you can see easily over the railing. Attention to detail!
2. Pet friendly WITHOUT compromising. If you have dogs you know it is VERY difficult to find a NICE, oceanfront condo that allows you to bring them on vacation with you. The few pet-friendly beach rentals that do exist typically insist your dog (you can usually have only one) weigh less than a sack of sugar and that you pay $100s in pet fees (even if your dog is housebroken and doesn't get on the furniture, etc.). I understand why they do this, a lot of pet owners are irresponsible. But for those of us who DO have well behaved pets who create no impact on accommodations it's quite frustrating to find a nice place. Here at F302 Port O' Call there was no limit on the number of dogs or the size of the dogs and there was no pet fee. This was AMAZING. Now, for you non-pet people who are thinking - "Man this place must be like staying a kennel! Ew!" I can tell you it was immaculately clean. My two dogs LOVED being on vacation with us, snoozing on the oceanfront screen porch and being included in evenings celebrating birthdays, watching TV, and playing chess (they supervised that last one).
3. Well-appointed. The owners of F 302 Port O' Call did not scrimp on anything. They furniture is upscale, the decor is very tasteful, the washer/dryer, and the dishwasher are high tech. It's above par for sure.
4. Easy access. Moving in and out is so EASY with the elevator and valet carts you can easily roll down to the circle in front of the condo. Beach is RIGHT there!
A very charming vacation spot!
First, I want to say that the moment we stepped off the top floor elevator and entered the condo, we knew we had made the right decision for our 7 day get away from the hurry scurry life of Atlanta. The condo was sparkling clean and offered us everything we would need for our stay. Only feet away from the rolling tide of the Atlantic, a sense of calm and total exhilaration came over us. My wife and totally enjoyed our stay at F-302, Port O' Call at Wild Dunes, Isle of Palms SC. We intend to revisit next year. I would highly recommend this spot for anyone who desires a tranquil get away with a fantastic ocean view. Thanks, Mr. Peter Cole, a friendly and caring Landlord!
Port O' Call F-302 Oct 2017
My husband and I stayed at Port of Call F-302 from October 21-28, 2017. I have nothing but rave reviews of our complete experience from the initial inquiry through to the post stay follow up. We arrived exhausted from our trip to a very easy access to the condo as well as a welcomed welcome from a delicious bottle of wine greeting us in the entry hallway. The condo was immaculate and just as described in Mr. Cole's well thought out and amusing description. He had me hooked from that alone, ha.

Tea. Drink the tea. We drank all of the tea. I would say that you definitely can taste the difference between this tea and the bagged teas I usually purchase from the grocery store shelving. Who knew we had a tea plantation in the United States? I didn't until this trip.
