'Wine Country Lodge's history in Sonoma County started with its founder, Lisa Neisingh. Lisa was raised in Sonoma County, where she enjoyed vacations with her family at their riverfront cabin on Healdsburg’s Fitch Mountain and where she learned to swim with her cousins in the Russian River. Wanting to share those sorts of memorable experiences with her family and others, she bought Riverwood, her second riverfront home in Healdsburg, in 2005. Riverwood Lodge was a vacation home previously owned by Ollie Spencer, (a former Super Bowl winning coach of the San Francisco 49ers) and enjoys an exceptional river location and grand accommodations. The Spencer's architect added impressive additions to the original 1930's home, and Lisa continued the improvements, making additions and adding upscale rustic furnishings and decor. Since opening its doors in 2005, we have been inviting guests to enjoy this lovely home and beautiful riverfront setting. Wine Country Lodges continues in the tradition of welcoming guests and is now owned and managed by Lisa’s children Jared B Pickrell and Jill Jensen. Our family enjoys filling these wonderful riverfront homes with comfortable furnishings, relaxing amenities, and providing an array of adventurous and leisurely activities for our guests to enjoy.

Despite the rain and hail we had a great time with family, Did four jig saw puzzles and played many games of Uno, Aggravation and ping pong.
The home is absolutely lovely - spacious, up to date, clean. It made for a perfect weekend for our group of 4 couples. Highly recommend this home for your group's stay - the location on the river is lovely and serene, and the proximity to Healdsburg (~5 min) and countless vineyards is amazing.
My family rented the Riverwood Lodge over the New Year's Eve period. Although we greatly enjoyed our stay, the vacation was marred by following interactions with the management company. I'll begin with a review of the house:
Pros: very spacious, plenty of room for our party of 8 adults and three children, equipped with all basic necessities (including a crib and high chair for the kids),
very close to Healdsburg center
beautiful riverfront setting
beautiful living room/front porch area with views of the River (profile photos don't do it justice)
Cons: kitchen sub-par for the price- lacking basic essentials like a potato peeler. Don't expect to cook any show stopping meals here.
Located on a narrow, winding road that locals fly down. If you are uncomfortable driving (particularly at night) you might want to reconsider your plans to stay here
Area is a bit down market- this is definitely the nicest house of the block
No cell service (though you can connect your phone via the internet)
Now the part that ruined the experience. The Management Company, Wine Country Lodges was very responsive and helpful prior to our trip. However, upon our return I noticed a $200 charge on my credit card without any explanation. Thinking it was a mistake, I contacted the company via phone and email immediately. I did receive an email from their reservations manager the same day letting me know that he would check with accounting and get back to me. Two days later, no response, so I sent another email asking about the charge. When I had not heard back from the company 24 hours later I sent a note letting them know that I would be contesting the charges and writing a negative review. It is now over a week since the incident and STILL no response. A Yelp review of this company indicates some other customer service incidents with other guests so if you book this lodge, please be vigilant of and look at your statements!
Well located for a wine country stay. Home has lots of space, more than adequate for our eight adults. Fairly picturesque setting with the Russian River in the backyard. Not the greatest of finishes or decor, but everything functional and clean.
My family - 8 adults, 2 toddlers - have stayed here twice - and both times we have had a great time. The house is large enough for all of us to gather around the dining room table and each couple has their own room. The house is well equipped, close to Healdsburg, and right on the river (this year there is water). The only drawbacks are that the downstairs rooms have a low ceiling (my husband is 6'2" and has to duck in some areas) and that it is a bit difficult to find the house the first time. A great place to stay!
We had a wonderful experience with this rental! The house was beautiful and spacious, the location was great, and communication with the property manager was excellent. Highly recommended!
There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activity and adventure, with swimming, boating, rafting and float trips.
Also, fishing poles are provided (licenses required for adults), and prospecting equipment with gold mining pans for even more riverfront passtimes. Complimentary winery tour maps, and bicycle route maps. Restaurant guides with sample menus are provided for most area restaurants, day passes to Parkpoint Health Club available for $10, a variety of inflatables are provided for swimmers in the summer months. There is a log lawn swing for leisurly afternoons, a charming handmade checkers table, and a library of books on the subjects of natural history, travel, wildlife, and local area history. A short trip into town to the plaza in Healdsburg will ensure guests' enjoyment of the very best that northern California's Wine Country has to offer: wonderful dining experiences, wine tasting, food and wine pairings, boutique shopping, live theatre performances at the Raven
