Wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time I have spent a long October weekend at La Casita & hope to go back again next year! It's a lovely property in a really peaceful location, but only about five minutes drive from Canillas de Aceituno if you want to eat out. The views over the mountains are fantastic. I'd recommend the location for anyone interested in mountain walking, but if you want to just chill out by the pool and look at the view (like we did!), then this is the place for you.

Relaxing, beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we walked through to the pool and the view and Casa simply took our breath away. It was perfect. The views were amazing and we had beautiful sunsets and even an incredible sunset. The Casa was well equipped and spacious with every need catered for. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Tore del Mar was 20 minutes away with every need catered for. You definitely need a good car for the mountain roads. They took a few trips to get used to! The local village is pretty and quaint and has all the basics. I cannot praise the Casa more highly. It was truly a home from home and was a perfect holiday! Thank you!

Wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

I went for a long weekend in October and it was really relaxing & peaceful. The accommodation is beautiful & well kept, with great facilities, but the location is really what makes it. The views over the mountains are fantastic & keep changing as the light changes. The sunsets made me want to take up painting!! It was magical watching the sun set over the mountains while listening to the bells from a herd of goats in the field nearby. Canillas de Aceituno is a lovely Moorish village about 5 minutes away by car and there are restaurants and bars there. The coast is only about 40 minutes drive away. Loved the Sunday market in Nerja! I really hope to go back and explore the area some more. Or maybe just relax by the pool...

Another wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

This was my second visit and I had yet another wonderful stay. The views and sunsets were amazing. The surrounding area provided many excellent places to visit including beaches and mountain villages. The local village had good bars and restaurants, in particular La Maroma. The casita is so quiet and peaceful, but Heather was always on hand when needed with advice. The description was accurate, the property clean and well maintained. Excellent customer service and would definitely recommend to others. Beryl D

A mountain idyll

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely relaxing weekend; I have never seen more stunning views place and the casa is very spacious and comfortable and the nearby village has lots of good eating places. The sunsets are unbelievable from the terrace and Heather in the adjoining property is very helpful - nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful mountain retreat.

Canillas De Aceituno is located in the Nature Reserve of 'Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama'.

It sits high on the slopes of La Maroma, the highest of the mountain range and hence offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

It offers countless possibilities for activities such as trekking hiking, canoeing, speleology etc.

As usual in Andalusia, the village has many fiestas(holidays) as well as a Carnival, which is held in February,Canillas de Aceituno has its unique fiestas.

One such is held on the last Sunday in April to honour the patron saint ' La Virgen de la Cabeza'. This day is also known as, Dia de La Morcilla, when free beer wine and morcilla(black pudding) is served.

In August there is the main 4 days fiesta. Finally around the 7th or 8th September we have 'Candelaria' (Bonfire night).

The Moorish white washed village is a maze of cobbled lanes lined with orange trees and dotted with bars, restaurants and local stores offering fine local produce. There is a bank with ATM,a pharmacy and municipal pool with bar/restaurant at the end of the village.

The village is over 1000 years old and evidence of its ancient past can be seen at the House of the Moorish Queen in the square by the Town Hall and also the Arab well located in a building just outside the village passed The Bodega restaurant.
