About the property

Surrounded on all sides by trees, nature and breathtaking views of Lk Superior.

This lovingly maintained private home in an ideal location features a wall of windows, exposed beams and an expansive deck that overlooks Lake Superior, Madeline and Long Islands. A large public sand beach, golf course, ski resort, mountain biking and hiking trails, art gallery and Pike's Bay Marina are all within two miles of the home.

The charming town of Bayfield is four miles north, featuring shops, restaurants, and a 20 minute ferry ride to Madeline Island, which can be seen from the home. The town of Washburn is six miles to the south with more restaurants, shopping, an art gallery and a playhouse.

The main level boasts breathtaking views of Lake Superior from the screened in porch, kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. The well appointed A-frame home welcomes visitors with a large great room, vaulted ceiling and large beams provides expansive views of the lake, woods, and Apostle Islands in the distance.

The kitchen is fully equipped including a dedicated ice maker and island with seating in addition to the large dining room table. The main level also features a large screened in porch with comfortable seating plus additional seating for meals overlooking the lake. The main level is completed with a field stone wood burning fireplace, and a laundry room in addition to the three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The second level loft with its A frame ceiling is a perfect place for kids to play, adults to check in with the office (desk and printer are available), or to sip a cup of coffee and enjoy the sunrise.

In addition to a front porch with rocking chairs, the deck facing the lake extends the full length of the home, providing multiple places to take in the view, watch sailboats glide by, or enjoy a beverage while listening to the wind in the trees. Gas and charcoal grills are available, in addition to four sets of golf clubs (two for youth, two for adults.)

There are three bedrooms on the main level sleeping a total of 6 (king, full, and two twin beds) and two full bathrooms. On the lower level there are two bunk room style bedrooms, each sleeping six, a full bathroom, pool table, darts, bar, and a walkout to the fire pit and back yard.

The home is close to town but feels like civilization is far away. It is on a private road with two other homes, and is completely secluded - nothing but trees, water, and islands on all sides.

This is the perfect home for those who want to sit by the fire and read or savor the view from the deck with a glass of wine, and also a great fit for those who love to hike, bike, kayak, golf, ski, shop, or beach comb.

The town of Bayfield has a wonderful "Cape Cod" feel and the nearby cities of Washburn and Ashland offer additional options for shopping, dining and recreation. Other activities include apple and berry picking in the summer and fall, boat rentals at one of the many marinas, art galleries, and a casino 20 minutes from the home.

We hope you will consider staying at our "Superior Escape!" We believe that once you walk through the door and see the view, you will love it as much as we have.

About Kris Miner

Our family has been sailing in the Bayfield area for the last 12 years, and we fall in love with it more with each passing year. Although Bayfield is a small community, each year we find new restaurants, trails, shops and activities to enjoy. After over a decade of enjoying the area in the warmer months, we look forward to exploring the winter activities (and relaxing ing in front of the fire!) from our newly acquired lake home.

Kris Miner purchased this house in 2017

Why Kris Miner chose Bayfield

We stumbled upon the home by accident at a time we had no intention of buying a home. We took a look "just for fun" telling the agent there was no chance we'd ever think of buying.

Five minutes after we walked through the door, my husband was sitting on the couch, soaking up the view saying "this is perfect" and the rest is history. Where there is a will, there is a way. ;) (For us, that "way" is listing the home on VRBO.)

We are excited to share the home with others. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have, and will feel the same pull we do to return to it time and time again.

We are new to owning a 2nd home, and new to being VRBO owners. PLEASE do not be shy about telling us what we can do to improve the home, listing, or our response. Our goal is for those who visit to feel completely at home, and completely relaxed. If there is anything we can do to improve in any way, we would love the opportunity to do so.

What makes this house unique

The location provides quick and easy access to both Bayfield and Washburn, is close to golf, sailing, mountain biking, hiking and skiing, in addition to the amenities offered in Madeline Island (a short 20 minute ferry ride away) and the towns of Bayfield, Washburn and Ashland.

The feeling of being in the treetops with the view of the Apostle Islands in the distance is hard to do justice to in a few words.

It's easy to spend many peaceful hours watching the lake and wind slowly change, looking for eagles while listening to the shimmering leaves in the trees, the calls of the birds, and the waves lapping against the shore. When there is a full moon, the reflection on the lake is nothing short of magical.

We hope you enjoy the home as much as we have, and look forward to booking your visit SOON!

Amazing Home - Wonderful Hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely gorgeous home! Situated perfectly just south of Bayfield and north of Washburn. Easy access to skiing, golf, hiking, orchards, local restaurants, sailing and one of the best beaches in the world just minutes south.

Million dollar view of the Apostle Islands from nearly every room. We were lucky to have great weather and spent most of our time on the huge deck, screened-in porch and AWESOME hot tub (fully screened!). The privacy was wonderful and the stars were astounding every night!

The house has tons of great space and is very family friendly (We shared our time with another couple and 4 small children). We felt like everyone had plenty of room and the kids loved exploring (they spent hours one morning trying to see how many moose they could find!). There was enough space that even with a few early risers the rest of the house was able to sleep-in in peace and quiet.

The cooking setup could not be better - everything you need for dishes, pots and pans with new appliances and a great grill.

The owners were wonderful hosts - very accommodating to a last minute change and great guides for the best of the area (I've been going to Bayfield for 20+ years yet they recommended a perfect hike I had never been on!). They were very easy to communicate with and responsive to any questions or concerns.

I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a wonderful "up north" experience!

We will definitely be back - we didn't even make it all the way home and the kids were already asking about next year!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to host this group. They had a last minute change to the reservation that we were able to accommodate and they were extremely appreciative of our flexibility. It was great to hear that the kids were asking when they could come back before were home from their trip! We feel the home is particularly well suited for groups with adults and kids, with a more upscale upper two floors, in addition to the recreation/kid friendly lower level with the pool table, additional television, and bunk rooms that sleep six people per room. We have been sailing and staying in Bayfield for over 10 years and are more than happy to suggest activities, restaurants, art galleries, etc. The Bayfield area and surrounding communities have an abundance of things to keep people with a wide variety of interests happy - from skiing to sailing, browsing art galleries and bookstores to museums and beaches, there is literally something for everyone, regardless of the season. We look forward to hosting Dan and his group again - they left the home in immaculate condition. Guests like them are a true gift and we look forward to them returning next year.

Spacious, well kept cabin stay with beautiful views, convenient location and attentive owners!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful overall experience! The owners were responsive, pleasant and full of suggestions. From the first email that I sent inquiring about the property to the check-out instructions every interaction was professional and helpful. This log home has everything you would ever want: fully stocked, clean, beautifully decorated, easy access, lake front view, several different living spaces for hanging out and many different options for sleeping.

We would book again in a second!

Perfect weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful and was perfect for a long weekend with our friends! The views of the lake from inside/outside the lake home were amazing. The location was great, easy to find, with plenty of parking for our vehicles. The lake home was fully stocked with everything we needed. The rec room downstairs with the pool table, dart boards was a great addition. The owner Kris was so helpful answering many questions prior to the trip and during. She gave us great recommendations for things to do in the area too. We hiked to Lost Creek Falls (near Cornucopia) and stopped at the South Shore Brewery Tap House in Bayfield - definitely worth the visit!

Our favorite part of the house was the wood burning fireplace. It was just what we needed - a relaxing weekend sitting in front of the fire, watching the lake, and catching up with long time friends. This house definitely made the weekend perfect. Thank you Kris!

Owner's Response: Kali was a great guest who had requested the option of extending her stay, We blocked out the days after her anticipated check out, and were happy to be to grant her the extra time at the home when she chose to stay an extra night. We know plans can change and we are committed to being attentive to the needs of our guests.
