Converted Stone Barn With Pool

Le Douluch is a converted seventeenth century stone barn with metre thick walls and exposed beams situated in a quiet spot overlooking the village of le Monastere. It is located in the Aveyron, a rural area of the Midi Pyrenees region close to the village of Estaing, one of Frances “beau villages”, in a largely rural area in the south-west of France. The area is not part of the usual tourist trail which is one of its great attractions to the independent traveller and those who want to experience real French life. While it is remote enough for a lazy holiday or for a restful break on a longer trip, it also offers many sights and activities.

Le Douluch sits high on the shoulder of a ridge and enjoys spectacular views into the adjoining valley. On clear days, you can see as far as Rodez, the departmental capital nearly 40 kilometres away. The barn is surrounded by fields and woodlands, and is located on a quiet country lane, making it the perfect tranquil setting for your holiday. The barn is comfortable, fully furnished and equipped with electric convector heaters in every room.

Ground floor

On the ground floor, beneath the original massive oak beams, is a large carpeted living area, with two comfortable sofas, one of which is a sofa bed, an armchair, a television receiving local and English channels, and DVD player. There is a wood fired stove for the colder nights.

Adjacent is a fitted kitchen with fridge, gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave and drip coffee machine, and a range of equipment for you to prepare produce purchased at the local markets. A laundry/utility room with washer and dryer, a bathroom and separate toilet complete this floor.

The dining area contains an extendible table seating max 8 people. There are also double doors opening to a terrace with table and chairs for outdoor dining.

First floor

There are 3 roomy bedrooms on the upper level of Le Douluch. The main bedroom is particularly spacious with a queen size bed, large wardrobe, armchair and desk. Its double windows open onto a spectacular view of the valley.

The other 2 bedrooms both have twin beds, as well as wardrobes and a chest of drawers. Both bedrooms have access to the swimming pool terrace area.

A large shower room with toilet is located off a landing between the upstairs bedrooms.

Outside

Outside the main door is a paved area, with table and chairs - perfect for summer lunches. Beneath the canopy of an ancient oak tree is a stand-alone BBQ.

The swimming pool is located on the upper terrace, accessible from the garden or the twin bedrooms. Several sun loungers are available for lazing by the pool, while taking in the expansive country views.

There is on-site parking for 2 cars.

Bed linen, bath and tea towels are supplied but you need to bring your own swimming towels

The house is equipped with cds, radio, dvds, books and board games, as well as a picnic set, rug and market baskets.

This house is situated in a beautiful, tranquil location away from the bustle of life but near to everyday amenities in Estaing. . The house has everything needed for a relaxing holiday and is extremely well maintained with superb views from the patio areas and pool. This was our 2nd visit and we would definitely like to return

My wife, our two children and I had an enjoyable stay at Le Douluch – a great spot to come back and relax after exploring many of the neighbouring towns, restaurants, abbeys and markets (because of its rural setting, the roads were a little narrow on some turns - caution if you have an 8 seater vehicle!) The house is true to the online photos - very clean and well set up with roomy bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, fireplace (with plenty of wood) and comfortable sitting/dining area with views down the valley. The pool and bbq area are a fabulous bonus. I would definitely recommend Le Douluch to families or groups of friends wanting to enjoy time together in a quiet spot whilst well within driving distance of local attractions. We’ll be back.

Breathtakingly beautiful

Le Douluch sits in a ridge overlooking arguably the most beautiful countryside anywhere in the world. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and found the barn fully equipped to more than satisfy all our requirements. The area has so much to discover we barely scratched the surface but we loved returning home each day to this wonderfully converted barn, with all its charm and character. The barn would easily accommodate 3 couples or a family group, and the pool, barbecue area and surrounding grounds simply add to the truly unique holiday experience. Yes, I would recommend le Douluch in a heartbeat.

Beautiful view

We have spend 14 days in this beautiful place with a stunning view. The house is well equipped and with all modern facilities. The pool was very clean and was big enough for us as a family of 5 persons. The area is calm and with a lot of things to explore. We would certainly recommend this place for families which are seeking a nice place to relax without any noise at all.

Vacances sereines

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour " au douluch", maison parfaitement équipée, propre, spacieuse et confortable.

L'endroit est très calme, la vue est splendide... Pour une semaine de repos.

Piscine extra!!!

Nous étions à quelques kilomètres du magnifique village d'estaing, a 22 kms de Laguiole, l'Aveyron est une région qui regorge de très beaux villages.

Le propriétaire est discret mais attentif au bon déroulement de notre séjour

En bref nous avons adoré notre séjour à la grange.
