This property in immaculous, everything is included. just bring your food and enjoy one of the best relax week you will remember for long time. At the cottage there is no neighbour to the right of the cottage where you will spend most of your time, there is one neighbour to the left but they are 300 feet away and you don't see them too often and they are an old couple so very quiet. The cottage at 15 feet from the water and on a 300 feet open front water land.
There are 2 Kayak, one Paddle board and a 16 feet canoe. there is also a fire pit with supplied fire wood, you will spend most of yoru time on the spacious patio listening the nature or spa music. Don't be suprise to see eagle, Loon, deer, moose and many more spicies.
PS. we do not take credit card as VRBO would add a rental fee to the rent and a tax at the top of it. We have been trusting people for over 15 years of rental and never lost money so in order to keep you cost down, we accept the checks.
What a peaceful, nurturing week this has been. We enjoyed the paddle boat, but especially kayaking. Ten mooses, three deers, four ruffed grouse, four loons(heard others) and five eagles,as well as four merganser ducks! The sunrise almost daily, the big bright stars at night plethora of lupines filled our senses.Maybe bestof all, were the two rainbows seen from route 15 and at Moose River.Even the trains going almost daily were fun to see and hear. We went to Big Squaw Montain ski area, climbed Owl's head at Atean Overlook in Jackman to the first lookout, went to The Falls on rounte 201/6 north in Dennistown Plantation, climded the lumber road at Plum Creek Marshall Yard complex, drove Adam Dam Road past M13,took walks, and went to Moxie Falls at the Forks, Maine's tallest waterfall. Pier and Esther, thank you for the restful eight nights at Long Pond. the bed weas firm, making for restful sleep. Thanks again. Darleen and Ron
This cabin was great for our family of 4 to stay in. The lake is very quiet and a lot of time was spent kayaking around looking for wildlife. we loved sitting in the living room and open kitchen area relaxing. The fire pit was used almost nightly. We highly recommend this property for any renter that wants to get away from it all and relax. The weather in August was cool (70's) so not much swimming went on since it was too cool. This didn't bother us but maybe something to consider on what time of year to go.
We stayed at the cottage with our 2 teenage sons. The cottage was well stocked with all needs for a lakefront vacation. We enjoyed the paddle board, my 14yr old, paddle clear across the lake. Kayaking at sunset was a big hit for my husband and myself. Evenings at the lake were superb, amazing view of the milky way and we made S'mores by the cozy fire-pit. Jackman is a small town, and our boys hoped there would be more action, but a week discovering nature was just want our family needed. We whitewater rafted, explored Moosehead lake by sea-plane, and (with our own Kayak's -we brought) explored beautiful Attean lake. Brought bicycles, but never found suitable bike trails, other than 'logging routes', which are not suitable to family bike rides. Overall, it was a great week away, making memories and relaxing.
Thanks for Sharing 'Owl Cottage' with our family.
The cabin appears to have been completely recently refurbished, and is furnished to the max. The living areas are open and comfortable. The bedrooms are a little cramped, but adequate; five adults is about the max. The kitchen is COMPLETELY outfitted, with an assortment of cookware, utensils, silverware and dishes. But the best part is the outside. A deck faces Long Lake and wraps around one side of the house. The lake is only a few steps away, and there are kayaks and a canoe ready to go. The floating pier gives you a great place to sit and read, relax or check out the lake. The town of Jackman is about 10 miles away, where you can get the basic necessities and good pizza at Bishop's. Moosehead Lake and the town of Greenville are about 45 minutes in the other direction, with lots of outdoor stuff to do. But the best thing to do is stay put and enjoy the Owl Camp cottage.
We selected Owls Cottage for the amenities, features and lake front location. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. The cottage had every indoor feature and outdoor feature one could want.
The lake is wonderful for swimming, kayaking or just relaxing.
The owners had just completed a number of renovations that enhanced our stay. Any issues we encountered were quickly addressed.
Jackman and the Moose Head Lake area have a number of activities, restaurants, etc. For active outdoor types the cottage is a wonderful location for enjoying all the areas has to offer.
I would recommend the property to those seeking to unplug and enjoy the outdoors.
Had we seen a moose or owl the stay would have been perfect. Thanks for a great time.
Thank you Pier!! We came to the camp with friends from Missouri and we wanted the real Maine Winter experience! We got it! Even with the cold temps it was beautiful!! The camp was amazing and it far exceeded our expectations. There was a beautiful view, smelled amazing, and everything was so organized! We plan to be back!
The Owls cottage is absolutely beautful. The 180 degree view from the windows is great. You can see amazing sunsets. The location is great and private. You can listen to the loons on the lake,go out kayaking right from ths shore or sit out on the wrap around deck. There are many places to hike oryou can drive to greenville or hop over the border. We saw many moose, fox, dear, rabbits, eagle and a bear.It is always a great place to relax and unwind and have a time of refreshing.Thank you Pier and family for sharing such a wonderful place with us.
Maine's interstate snowmobile trail system is directly lakefront of the property and reaches Jackman and Rockwood. Big Squaw Mt. Ski area is 30 minutes away for those who pursue downhill skiing. Activities in the area include canoeing, boating, white water rafting, moose watching, hiking, fishing and hunting.
