|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Unit 4 is perched amongst a canopy of oak and birch trees - you can stand on the balcony, reach out, and touch leaves and branches over 2-stories from the ground! Unit 4 is one of eight condominiums in a building nestled amongst a mature birch/oak forest with views over the Lake Wisconsin valley. Casual, whimsical, bright furnishing. Italian ceramic floor in bath and kitchen. New step-in rainfall shower. Woodburning stove insert in the original, beautiful, stone fireplace. Small firepit outside for quiet summer/fall eves; or hearty-folks roasting s'mores in winter.
Lovely, oiled-teakwood laminate floors LR and Hall - carpeted bedrooms. You may find yourself resting on a pillowcase embroidered by my Cornish grandmother; or snuggled under a quilt made of squares of men's suit material; or find pencil drawings sent to Cornwall from the trenches of WWI...poke about...little surprises all over.
AND...and whole bass fiddle case of books!
Lots of wildlife - deer, turkey, raccoon, owl, and birds of all sorts fly over or walk through these remarkable surrounds. Marvelous earthrise and earthsets. I think the trees up here talk.
Parfrey's Glen official entrance is a 20-minute walk away. Devil's Lake is a 10-minute ride. Devil's Head Ski/Golf Resort is 200 yards down Bluff Road. Quaint Merrimac FREE ferry (seasonal). Cascade Mountain Ski/Snowboarding or Wollersheim Winery/Sauk City - 20-minute ride. Attraction notebook available in unit.
Plenty of QUIET. Noise restriction after 11p. You could write your book here! Remarkable views. Friendly condo neighbors.
Keywords: Condominium - Rocky Glen is about 200 yards up Bluff Road and on the opposite side of the entrance to Devil's Head Ski and Golf Resort
Comfy in the living room - fireplace blazing nearby and watching something wonderful on PBS...probably the Dicken's series...what teriffic tear-jerkers!
Lesleigh purchased this condo in 1999
How could I NOT have fallen in love with this place!? (I didn't mean to...it was a first project for me/my chef brother.) Although not a skiier or golfer, I AM a walker and I just step out the door and I'm nearly in the woods...AND stepping out on the balcony puts you eye--level with tree tops. Only squirrels, cranes, turkey vultures, and lovely little birds get a better view.
Peace - to watch the trees 'converse' with each other - the neverending changes framed by each window to the forest - the very occasional concert (Los Lobos a several several years ago) or fireworks from Devil's Head Resort on New Year's Eve - sitting around the firepit on a summer or fall evening - the water from a quartzite well in the basement (it bypasses the water softening system otherwise required for the building) - staying up the nights male owls joust in the air above our parking lot (I always think of the Quiddich field from Harry Potter.)
This amazing building is 3 stories high in total, but only 2 stories high in any one place. There are 4 bays consisting of two condos, one atop another. Each bay juts out and/or into the bluff and forest. Wonderful design!...and it is a wonderful healing place. We hope you enjoy sharing the magic up here.
My husband and I needed sometime away from the craziness of work. We rented the Rocky Glen Condo for a long weekend. It was so peaceful - it was perfect. It's nestled in the woods and surrounded by trees! Lesleigh is an amazing host and couldn't be more accommodating. The kitchen is furnished with everything you could possibly need and the bathroom has a beautiful new walk-in shower. My favorite place to relax during the evening when we got back from the winery, the Dells, the ride around Devil's Lake state park is the awesome lounger in the living room! Wish I could have taken that home with me! We'll be back!
We booked a stay at Lesleigh's condo because our toddler loves Devil's Lake and we planned spending a few days on the beaches there. Unfortunately, we discovered just before our departure that there was an issue with Swimmer's Itch in Devil's Lake. We found other things to do, but we ultimately decided to cut our trip short. That certainly had nothing to do with the condo. It's a very charming space. The living room has large windows and is surrounded by trees. Interesting objects and books can be found in every room. Lesleigh couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We felt right at home. When I told her we were leaving early she even offered a refund, which she certainly did not have to do. When we discovered that we left something behind she mailed it to us right away. I'm sure we'll be back.....perhaps later in the summer.
My daughter and I stayed here for a little get away. The minute we stepped through the door we felt at home! This is such a warm, charming place. You feel a part of nature with the surrounding woods right off the deck and lots of windows! This is a very quiet property and very close to the park. Lesleigh has thought of everything and made our stay an amazing one. I will be back again!
My husband and I stayed at Lesleigh's property for our two year anniversary. I was absolutely enchanted. The view from the porch at night was like looking through the forest at Rivendell. We've never stayed anywhere more relaxing: there was a feeling of peace throughout the whole home. The rental was perfect in terms of cleanliness and amenities, and was above and beyond what we expected in terms of charming. The pictures don't do it justice!
The property is conveniently located close to the beautiful Devil's Lake State Park. The condo was the perfect place to relax after long days of hiking - clean, comfy, and equipped with everything we needed. Lesleigh was a generous and welcoming host.
Lesleigh & her property were amazing. Lesleigh went above & beyond to welcome us and make our stay a pleasurable one. We would use her property again when we come again to unwind and do some hiking and exploration the area is great for both. Lesleigh will be there to assist with Amy questions and was very back on orating to our small group of 4. Glad she allowed us a 2 night stay some places don't so we got to know the area and see if we liked it for future trips. In my opinion 2-3 nights is plenty anyway for a mini get away. Thank you very much for welcoming us !
