We spent 3 days at Christa's beachouse with our 2.5 year old girl. It is a lovely little house, modestly decorated. Superb to relax and enjoy a quaint fishing village. We really could’ve just spent 100% of our time at the house and beach and been fully satisfied. The house was super comfortable and included every amenity we would need. It was spotless and floors very clean...which dirty floors is my pet-peeve. I expected some sand but it was super clean and smooth. Beds very comfy. We slept soundly each night. No noise and woke to gorgeous sunsets seen whilst lying in bed. The local Omanis were very friendly and it felt great to see how everyone enjoys fishing village life. Late afternoon, the adults sit around in circle on beach having daily gathering watching, and kids swim in the sea until sunset. We met Beatriz, the housekeeper, but did not take advantage of her cooking or cleaning. Christa lives across the street and we did not meet until the day prior to last day. We did not have a phone and kept missing her when she returned home from her job because we were always out. She was still able to offer good advice for our last full day, which we took. Really really lovely. Can’t wait to come back.
We had such a lovely relaxing holiday here. The location was perfect, you can't get closer to the sea. Our two young children loved being on the beach and we loved going to sleep/ waking up to the sound of the sea. I was sad to leave but we really hope to come back. We met the owner at the start of the holiday and she was very helpful and said if we needed anything she was only up the road. The house keeper on the roof terrace was very discrete and helpful too. She did some light cleaning for us during our stay which was very great. The locals are lovely and a boat ride is a must and very cheap. The only downside (nothing to do with the house) was how busy the beach got on Friday and Saturday. A couple of times people walked into the house maybe thinking it was a cafe?! Plus many tourists gathered underneath the house and used the front entrance steps to bang the sand off their shoes! Parking also became bad and we found we couldn't move our car between certain hours for fear of not being able to park again. Most annoying and spoiled our peace and quiet a bit over the weekend. Could have been the time of year (Xmas period) but it was much quieter Mon-Thurs. But this should not put you off! Eating breakfast on the roof terrace to the sun coming up more than made up for this.
We really enjoyed the cozy house "Maison Plage". The view is fantastic and we have every day enjoyed swimming in the sea. The people of the village are very friendly and like it when you make a little chat.
We slept with the sound of the sea. The house was a good base to explore the area. We're very excited about our stay.
This was our first time to Oman and what a fantastic place to explore it from. Our only disappointment was that we weren't staying longer. The owner was so kind and helpful, the housekeeper was so sweet. It was very hard to leave. The beds are comfortable, the house was very clean. And the area is very quiet, so we slept extremely well. The Mutrah souq is only 15 minutes away by car, and 10 minutes away was a large grocery store. It was 5 minutes away from the marina where we were able to take a water taxi down the coast. I would highly recommend this house.
A perfect place to watch the world go by. Qantab is a great place to base yourself to explore the Muscat area, shopping is just 10 minutes away and there is ready access to plenty of places to explore. A car is really a must but it is a very easy drive all the way to the centre of Muscat and beyond.
The villa was great, we particularly enjoyed sitting on the roof watching the boats dart about. No wifi but easy and cheap to get a prepaid sim from Omantel.
Christa and Cyril are fantastic hosts, just 200m away if need and extremely friendly and helpful.
If you want a real world experience, stay here.
The house is great for relaxing with the wonderful view over the sea and the sounds of the waves right in font of the house. Qantab is a small village and since we stayed for ten days we soon got to know some of the local fishermen, who would sail us on to the other beautiful beaches in the area for a reasonable price. If you offer an occasional coffee (with lots of milk and sugar) and a cookie to the men sitting in front of the house, you will certainly have good friends for the duration of your stay!
Qantab is also a great spot to explore other parts of Oman from. It is neccesary however, to rent a car for the duration of the stay, and if you want to go far in to the mountains or deserts better get a four-weeler!
The owners of the house live nearby. They are very kind people and more than friendly providing information about Oman.
The Beach House 'Maison Plage' is located in a small fisher village next to Muscat. The village is still in its origin and you will spend your holiday in between the local fisher men. The house is directly at the beach and your stay will be indulged by wave sounds and quietness. The view is fantastic and the access to the beach is directly in-front of the house. Swimming, snorkelling, kayaking all this can be done a foot step away.
The touristic Mutrah with his Corniche and Souk can be reached in 15-20 min by car. From there all kind of tourist facilities and activities are available, like the traditional souk, the fish market etc. or just a fresh juice in one of the small coffee shops along the corniche.
From Mutrah the newly installed City Bus 'All over Muscat' is starting every 30 min. and it stops every where where something is to see, Down town Muscat, Qurum Beach, Opera House etc.
Old Muscat and Muthra has several Museums like Bait Muzna Gallery, Al Zubair Museum, Ghalya Modern Art Museum etc.
A day trip could be done:
To the Grand Mosque which can be visited from 8 am to 11 am.
To Jebel Sifah resort which can be reached by watertaxi from the Marina Bandar Rowdah in a one hour boat trip a long the coast or by a 30 min senic car drive through the mountain.
To the interior Nizwa, Nizwa Friday Market and Nizwa Fort or Jebel Akhdar which can be only reached by 4wheel car.
To the desert with its desert camps which offers overnight stays in Beduin tents with typical Oman food.
Or down the cost towards Tiwi, Fins Beach and the Wadi Tiwi as well as Wadi Shab with its water ponds.
Muscat and Oman is a treasure of Nature and definitely a place to be.
