About Hardie Dawn
Hardie and I first discovered Big Canoe in the summer of 2017 and were amazed with the natural beauty and amenities offered in this luxurious mountain community. We began searching for our perfect mountain retreat and decided the treetopper section of Big Canoe would fit our desires nicely. Fortunately, we found one of the few treetoppers overlooking Lake Petit. It needed work, but we simply couldn't pass up the view. Hardie completely remodeled the cabin himself and bought our vision to life. We have named our cabin "The Nest" which means a comfortable or cozy residence or situation; a retreat, or place of habitual resort. We would love to share our little piece of Big Canoe with you and hope you enjoy this magical place as much as we do.

Lovely Peaceful Get-Away
Our 3 night stay at The Nest was wonderful! So easy to have our questions quickly answered, booking was effortless, the pictures and many 5-star reviews were accurate. The hosts have made this mountainside "Nest," very attractive and extremely comfortable with new efficient kitchenette, stocked with everything needed, great bathroom, wonderful king bed, nice linens, towels, etc., etc. The WiFi and large TV worked great! (We watched our Netflix on a rainy day). Our favorite thing was being up in the trees with a few of the lake below. Lots of huge windows and a wonderful 2-level deck with rockers, pub table & chairs, cushioned loungers for relaxing. A big hot tub with lights to enjoy under the stars or early in the morning. It, just like every inch in the cabin, was immaculately clean, which we're pretty picky about! The hosts provide a big notebook filled with valuable information about the cabin, the Big Canoe area, maps of trails, places to eat or shop. We especially enjoyed "Monday Night Supper" at 61 Main in Jasper, my husband's birthday dinner at "Home" outside the North Gate, our Anniversary Dinner at the Golf Club House. We never had to contact our hosts about problems (because they anticipate everything and give great instructions!), but even a quick comment was responded to immediately! We felt very welcome during our stay. There are neighbors close by, but the Nest felt very private with the trees and deck planters. All the windows have blinds. It's very quiet there also. We would love to return during Autumn!
We stayed here for our wedding weekend. The place is gorgeous inside and out. It’s also very clean. We will be back there for anniversaries for sure.
Fantastic Quiet Getaway Location
We loved The Nest! Great little place for a quiet rest for my wife and me. The place itself is beautiful. Nicely decorated and appointed. Had all we needed. And the view was wonderful. And of course the hot tub was especially nice while looking at that view. Tracey and Hardie were great renters too. VERY attentive. We will DEFINITELY be back!
We came to the Nest to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Everything was beautiful!
Loved our stay. Couldn't have been any better! The place was well thought out and decorated very tastefully!
Cozy and stunning
We'd never been to Big Canoe before, and staying at the Nest was absolutely perfect for the two of us. The bed is comfortable, the hot tub is clean, and the lake view is stunning. The provided coffee was the icing on the cake! We took advantage of the tennis courts (pristine), ate at Black Bear Tavern (delicious), and made the trek to a local winery. We look forward to our next visit.
