About Franck Germain
We are a French - Canadian couple who met and fell in love in Burgundy. I am from Victoria, BC, Canada and came to Beaune on a Rotary exchange when I was 18. During that year I met and fell madly in love with Franck, a native Burgundian from a winemaking village just outside of Beaune. That was 18 years ago and now we have three lovely Franco-Canadian daughters, four vacation rentals in and around Beaune, and a very trans-atlantic lifestyle! Our rentals and free activity-planning service allow you to live in Burgundy like a local. We love helping our guests discover authentic France.

Why Franck Germain chose Beaune City Centre
I was attending a lycee in Beaune when I met and fell in love with my husband (who also went to school there). When we lived in Burgundy between 2004-2009 my eldest daughters went to school in Beaune and our youngest daughter Clementine, was born in the Beaune hospital in one of their beautiful new O.R.s with a bay window looking out on to the sun coming up over the Burgundian vineyards. Not too shabby a way to enter ther world! Not only do we feel that Beaune is the perfect French town for our guests to enjoy and explore, but it is a place that holds a very special place in our hearts.
What makes this Apartment unique
Walking across the street for some of the town's best baguettes, taking your market bags and filling them up at Beaune's extraordinary market, shopping in Beaune's unique and beautiful boutiques, enjoying a stroll around the medieval walls of the town as the sun sets or rises, reveling in a scrumptuous meal in one of Beaune's countless restaurants then strolling back home to fall into a deliciously comfortable bed, sitting on a bench in the picturesque Place Carnot watching the children ride on the ancient merry-go-round, having a winetasting in a 13th century stone cellar, going to the local cafe often enough that the waiters and the 'locals' recognize you and remember your favorite table...

Immaculate French getaway- we fell in love with it!!
This apt is everything it advertises and more! It is truly a perfect French get-away in the middle of a gorgeous small town. This apartment is immaculate, spacious, has everything you need to be comfortable, beautiful bedrooms, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen and it is the perfect distance to walk to everything in Beaune! We were worried because it was very warm out (in the high 80s) that we would be hot without air-conditioning but because of the stone walls, the apartment maintains a perfect temperature despite the weather outside if you keep the shutters closed during the day. There is a wonderful pastry/bakery shop right by the apt with the most amazing croissants and bread. And the restaurants in town have terrific food, the books in the apt that they provide have excellent suggestions on restaurants ... one we loved was Brasserie Carnot. I was really pleased their suggestion to visit the Patriarche winery which is a very close walk to the apartment… You spend about an hour and a half underground in their wine caves on a self guided tour and taste 10 wines. It was an amazing experience and so close to the apartment. In addition my husband went on a biking tour one afternoon throughout the countryside and he absolutely loved that as well! There is truly something for everyone and the apartment as well as the town of Beaune are immaculate and we felt extremely safe the entire time we were staying there. We absolutely fell in love with this apartment and with this town and we had the honor of getting to meet the wonderful Franck as well when we arrived and got to see his wine cellar. We hope that we are able to come back in the future because this apartment and this town was everything we could've ever dreamed it to be and we highly recommend it to others ...especially people with a family because it just gives you so much more room. This is so much better than staying in a hotel!! We cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was ... we were so sad to leave! Merci Franck and Laura!!
A magical Christmas stay
We arrived 2 days before Christmas and soaked up the festive atmosphere. Loved being able to walk to shops, restaurants and vineyard. Was lovely not having to drive everywhere. The apartment is elegant and tastefully decorated, with everything you could possibly need and so comfortable. We loved walking the ramparts, visiting the Hospice and taking in the Christmas lights. Being the usual designated driver it was a refreshing change to be able to walk to a huge selection of restaurants and being able to share in the delicious wines available.
Would love to spend Christmas there again.
My husband and I enjoyed our week at Le Relais du Vieux Beaune recently. The apartment has 2 nice large bedrooms, a comfortable lounge, a fully functional eat-in kitchen, bathroom and separate toilet. It is located up a flight of stairs in an historic building. Large lovely windows with shutters face a narrow cobbled street that is mostly quiet (a car passing by can be clearly heard) and a kitchen window facing an inner courtyard. We loved that the apartment is easy walking distance to the train station and even closer to the town center. We would be pleased to stay at Le Relais du Vieux in future.
Delightful apartment near the center of Beaune!
Arriving at Le Relais Du Vieux Beaune felt like coming home! Franck's instructions were impeccable. We opened the door to a welcoming bottle of Burgundian wine and two large wine glasses. Much needed after a stressful drive from Paris! The apartment was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is completely updated. Every necessity considered. Two very comfortable bedrooms with a cozy living room between. Personal touches everywhere. And multiple binders covering everything from local restaurants to appliance operation. We felt like guests in a good friend's home.
The apartment is one flight up (no lift) which one would expect in the old section of Beaune. The WC is quite separate from the shower/bath. Takes a minor adjustment. Some traffic noise: even the rare small car rumbling over cobblestones on a very narrow street can sound like a truck. All part of the charm!
A wonderful patisserie/boulangerie is literally a 30 second walk away. Everything in central Beaune is within walking distance. With a car, the whole of Burgundy is easily accessible. Read Laura Bradbury's books before you go. It will make your stay even more charming. Love Le Relais Du Vieux Beaune and hope to return!
Perfect in every way, just wish it was ours!
If we were to ever buy a home in Burgundy, we would want one just like Le Relais du Vieux Beaune! It’s ideally located, within walking distance to the best restaurants, patisseries and markets, lovingly restored with modern conveniences, and situated on a relatively quiet residential street. There are two spacious bedrooms with quality bedding, a fully-equipped kitchen, a split bathroom with a WC off the hallway and a tub, sink, washer and dryer in the other part. We enjoyed having a lovely living room with comfortable furniture, books, DVDs and a large, flat screen TV. There were only two of us, but their home is large enough for a family of four.
The owners, Laura and Franck, were wonderful to work with and welcomed us with a nice bottle of burgundy and recommendations for everything from markets to bicycle rentals. There are color-coded booklets with instructions for working the appliances and where the best restaurants and museums are. They have thought of everything a guest could possibly want! Franck’s father even drove us to the train station the morning we left.
We’ve been to Beaune before, but truly loved the experience of staying in a beautiful home versus a hotel. We felt like locals trotting off to the pastisserie for our morning baguette and to the market for everyday essentials.
We had a spectacular week touring wineries, attending The Cook’s Atelier French Cooking School, and cycling through the vineyards to Savigny-les-Beaune. There is simply no better location for exploring Burgundy and no better home than Le Relais. It is truly a gem — don’t hesitate to book this one!
Winetastings galore, gastronomic restaurants, chateaux visits, vineyard tours, and basically the French lifestyle "par excellence."
