About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Relaxing, open floor plan cottage sitting on a small creek. This location is a great place for bikers, runners and hikers as the Moses Cone trails are just down the road. The house has lots of glass and is nestled in some trees. It is passive solar but does have a gas monitor heating system ,an electric fireplace and a woodstove. It is very cool in the summer as it is surrounded by trees. Sun warms this cottage in the winter. Bird and wildlife watching is a great past time here with all the windows. Nice cozy comfortable furnishings and linens provided. The kitchen is fully equipped just bring your groceries. There is a small television with cable and a dvd and vcr for movies. This cottage is not fancy but nice and it has older appliances and a small tv. The cottage also has wifi..

The queen bed and a bathroom are located in the loft that is reached by a custom made wooden spiral staircase. The cottage is close to Trout Lake Bass Lake and Price Lake and wonderful trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is 4 miles from Blowing Rock and 3 miles to Boone. Pets and children are welcome. I offer competitive rates.

About Sara

I am a registered nurse and have a private practice in Healing Touch and Craniosacral Therapy. I was a Rehab Nurse for 10 years in the coal mines in 3 states. My first career was a social case worker. I also own a consignment business. I enjoy sharing this delightful cottage with my guests.

Sara purchased this house in 2007

Why Sara chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Blowing Rock and the High Country region is very beautiful. These are the oldest mountains in the world. There are lots of outdoor activities and friendly people. The cottage is centrally located near Boone and Blowing Rock.

What makes this house unique

It is great to hear the little creek that wraps around the cottage. Children enjoy playing in the creek. I am pet friendly. You can see lots of birds, chipmunk, deer and raccoon from the cottage. It is cozy and relaxing and I try to be flexible with my guests and their needs.

Small but cozy, close to everywhere

  • 5 of 5

Close to all the sights and locations, close enough to town that it's convenient. Very beautiful scenery at the cabin, lots of wildlife, stunning when it snows! Small cabin but very cozy, perfect for a couple's get away. We didn't want for anything, seems everything we could have needed was available in the cabin. Full kitchen, etc. Pet friendly and our pup loved the area. Would definitely recommend and would return

Great location, adorable cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 2 nights recently at this cottage, and it was perfect. We loved watching the birds every morning and evening, and were amazed at how close shops were but how remote the cottage felt. It was perfect, and we'd love to stay here again.

Cozy Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My fiance and I (and three dogs!) really enjoyed this little cabin! It was just what we needed to unwind and relax after Thanksgiving. We went into Boone one day and Blowing Rock another (very close and easy to get to BOTH). One morning we took the dogs to hike Rough Ridge which was AWESOME; easy hike with amazing lookouts! The ONLY thing was my fiance packed up all of his fly fishing gear thinking the cabin was on a creek, but there wasn't one; we found plenty of other things to do though, so it wasn't too big of a deal :) We would definitely come back and stay here! Great place for the price- thanks Sara!

We would stay again!

Owner is very nice to work with. Responds promptly to questions. Property is as described. It would be very nice if you could update the TV to something larger than having the "smallest TV available". They are so affordable a larger TV would be much nicer. Also the toaster only toast one side of bread at a time. They really don't cost much. The birds and chipmunk were absolutely THE BEST!!! Thanks!

Cozy, eclectic cottage just perfect for my personal getaway! Beautiful surroundings, great location!

  • 5 of 5

Sara's cottage is like finding hidden treasure just 3 miles from Boone! What a homey, comfortable place in a lovely, peaceful location. Beautifully landscaped in a wooded setting, the cottage is cozy and was perfect for my personal getaway! I enjoyed feeding the birds and chipmunks with the bird food provided and spent many hours reading out on the deck. The wooden spiral staircase is beautiful and the kitchen with 3 walls of windows almost gave the appearance I was eating outside! Everything was fully stocked (linens, paper goods, full kitchen, coffee maker/filters/coffee, etc.)---I wanted for nothing! The bed was comfortable, I had plenty of space throughout the cottage (I never felt cramped), and I enjoyed being so close to Boone! One of my favorite features were the windows---so much natural beauty to see and experience! it was the perfect size, location, and PRICE for my needs---my home away from home! I'll be back!! Thank you!

Perfect Cottage for Two!

  • 5 of 5

First let me start by staying this is literally in the perfect location!! Just about the same distance from the cottage to either downtown Boone or Blowing Rock. Right around the corner from Price Lake which was a perfect nature walk/hike to take three dogs on or bring out some kayaks. The size of the cottage was just enough, and was so incredibly neat with all the windows. No A/C became a concern when the temps were expected to get up near 90 but with the windows open and a fan at night we were fine! The only issue we had was dogs afraid of the spiral staircase -- so just an FYI for folks with animals :) might need to cater to their needs a bit. But they LOVED sitting at the window and watching the chipmunks and birds!!!
