I am a registered nurse and have a private practice in Healing Touch and Craniosacral Therapy. I was a Rehab Nurse for 10 years in the coal mines in 3 states. My first career was a social case worker. I also own a consignment business. I enjoy sharing this delightful cottage with my guests.
Sara purchased this house in 2007
Blowing Rock and the High Country region is very beautiful. These are the oldest mountains in the world. There are lots of outdoor activities and friendly people. The cottage is centrally located near Boone and Blowing Rock.
It is great to hear the little creek that wraps around the cottage. Children enjoy playing in the creek. I am pet friendly. You can see lots of birds, chipmunk, deer and raccoon from the cottage. It is cozy and relaxing and I try to be flexible with my guests and their needs.
First let me start by staying this is literally in the perfect location!! Just about the same distance from the cottage to either downtown Boone or Blowing Rock. Right around the corner from Price Lake which was a perfect nature walk/hike to take three dogs on or bring out some kayaks. The size of the cottage was just enough, and was so incredibly neat with all the windows. No A/C became a concern when the temps were expected to get up near 90 but with the windows open and a fan at night we were fine! The only issue we had was dogs afraid of the spiral staircase -- so just an FYI for folks with animals :) might need to cater to their needs a bit. But they LOVED sitting at the window and watching the chipmunks and birds!!!
This cottage was perfect for our little family. Conveniently located close to Blowing Rock, Boone, and Tweetsie. I like the option of cleaning up after ourselves in lieu of paying a cleaning fee. We will definitely stay here again.
My husband and I and our 2 Rat Terriers stayed at Sara's cottage over Memorial Day weekend. We stabled our 2 horses at Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve and rode the beautiful Moses Cone Park trails. We had a great time, the weather was perfect.
The cottage is cute and worked just fine for us. The price and location definitely makes this cottage one we would go back to again. I think that with attention to a few details this cottage could command a higher rental rate. The pictures are absolutely correct. Sara mentions the small TV and older appliances, so she is totally honest there. My husband would have liked a few more channels beyond just the free local channels provided. A bit more comfortable chair than the whicker one would be nice for relaxing and reading after a long ride. The exterior, as is mentioned by previous reviewers, does need a little TLC. But, we did just fine here and again we would go back.
We stayed at Sara's cabin - 4 people + dog - and had a great time! It has a very homey feel to the place and was perfect for our family. We enjoyed walking in the woods around the cabin and loved having the creek just outside the place. We definitely recommend this place and hope to come back this summer/fall.
We stayed at Sara's cottage for a relaxing weekend in February with our 2 dogs. It had just snowed a few days before and again while we were there which made for pretty scenery. We enjoyed cuddling up in the cottage and watching the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder. We also took our dogs for a nice walk and took the short drive into Boone to a little bakery for some desserts! Would love to come back in the summer, too! Sara was easy to communicate with and the cottage was perfect for our little family!
We rented the cabin from Sara and simply loved it. Our 2-4 legged children loved watching the abundance of wildlife nearby. We chose to spend our Thanksgiving weekend there and it was great. Snow was still on the ground from a couple of days before. The cabin is centrally located between Boone and Blowing Rock, it took about the same amount of time to get to either. Sara is simply a great person and enjoyed talking to her on the phone. The cabin is quite comfortable and relaxing in its natural setting. Would definitely be going back there soon, we love this area and its beauty.
