Large and open house with big private yard.
This is our third time staying at this house and it was perfect. It’s a large open living space with plenty of room for a lot of people. For what you get the price is great. 10-15 min gets you to a gas station and not much further to get to a grocery store. I read other reviews and I thought the House was clean, not the best beds but nobody complained about them. Couple of things seem worn but nothing major and again no complaints, chalked it up to being a rental house and people being rough on things. The owner was extremely responsive, within 5-10 min and very friendly and accommodating. Hopefully will be back next year.
Disappointed on cleanliness, safety issues, rodent (rat) feces & sign. Nice location, lots of room.
Safety issues included non-working fire detectors, stability of dock, rotting foundation at one of main entrances. I found rodent feces between the sheets of one of the beds that were made. Needless to say none of us chose to sleep under the covers at that point. The feces and other sign led us to believe it was a larger rodent(s) (rat vs. mouse). There were many areas and surfaces in the house that hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. There were linens, blankets and some personal items found balled up in piles in at least 3 of the closets. Many of the windows did not have locks and/or working levers. I first found this out as we were given the wrong code for the lockbox and my son had to crawl through an unlocked window to gain access. The owner was very responsive getting us the correct code (within an hour). There were animal stains on all of the living room furniture, carpets and on some of the bedding covers. I left one full day early because we were so uncomfortable (inability to secure windows and lack of a fire alarm) and disgusted (rodent signs, etc). I respectfully made a request to the owner that he refund me one day and the "cleaning" fee and he has not yet responded. It is an awful shame-it is a very nice location with a lot of space and potential.
The size, layout and location are good and we have stayed here 2 times over the past 2 years. Here comes the "but". We were told the beds were updated from the first visit and they were not. Everyone had backaches from bad beds. I did bring some cots and portable recliner to compensate but it is a shame that we need to bring our own beds. The smoke detectors did not have any batteries in them. The deck had new boards, but the screws were out of them so we had to cover them with coolers so no-one would hurt their feet. The screen door was broken. The outside doors were warped so we had a difficult time opening and closing. I was assured the dock was installed better from first time (it swayed at the end) and it was not better. I never was able to get out on the dock. The couches were filthy. When you lifted the cushions, there were beer caps, crayons and trash. You wonder if any cleaning was done from previous guests. Some upgrades would be nice and this would be a better place to stay. I think because it is up for sale, there won't be any improvements. It is a shame because this has a lot of things that could make it attractive and inviting.
We have rented this house before. Although we enjoyed our stay, it is in need of maintenance.
We were surprised to find the house in need of some basic care , especially since it is on the market for sale. A gray water well had collapsed on the north side of the house and created a hazard. The dishwasher is in need of an update ... it is very dirty and the water deposits on the inside leave dishes grimy. The silverware container in the dishwasher is not usable. The two screen doors were broken. It took an hour to clean out the coffee maker with vinegar to make a pot of coffee . There were ants in the upstairs closet and in the dining area. Many of the light bulbs were blown out. The grill was out of gas when we arrived. There is a board missing on the dock which could be a risk management nightmare. In general, this beautiful property is in need of some tender loving care.
Spacious and right on the water!
Many great features: lots of beds/rooms; adequate bathrooms; wonderful patio for evening group dining; generous kitchen supplies and equipment. We enjoyed the ping pong table, propane grill, jigsaw puzzle table and puzzles, and inner tubes. For the price we paid (well above the posted "average"), maintenance and cleanliness were an issue: the wash machine, which needed to be used to fulfill departure requirements, was barely functioning. The vacuum cleaners had not been maintained and so the person hired to clean each weekend was getting marginal results. Coffeepot needed a vinegar treatment. Lighting was minimal mainly because we could not find a light bulb supply and kept moving them around from fixture to fixture! We did clean the refrigerator and the vacuums, and so hope that helped.
Excellent group vacation house
This house is incredibly spacious. Easily fit 17 adults to sleep comfortably. Welcomes dogs. Our group enjoyed fishing in the lake and playing yard games. Parking for plenty of vehicles in driveway and lot. Close to wineries and boating.
In the summer, enjoy boating, world-class fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, near great jogging trails. Don't forget to check out The Finger lake regions wineries have tours nearly every day!
