Set on the river Cam in Cambridge, the Boathouse is conveniently located for easy access to Cambridge city centre, which is just a short 15-20 minute stroll along the river. There is good accessibility to the Science Park, business parks, A14 and M11. London is within easy reach, with frequent direct trains to London King's Cross station as well as Liverpool Street.
The property has available, three double bedrooms, two bathrooms with spa baths, cloakroom, open plan lounge, kitchen and dining room. Please note that the main bedroom and main bathroom may be unavailable (locked) at certain times during the year. Please let us know if you would like us to make the above available to you during your stay before booking.
The private garden backs directly onto the river Cam, and has a four person hot tub, traditional Finnish sauna, both with views of the river, and plunge pool. Guests also have the option of making use of three bicycles to explore the area, as well as the four-person dinghy to explore the river.
Cambridge is filled with events and wondrous sights throughout the year. Winter is especially atmospheric with cheerful festivities, food markets and cosy pubs inviting you with roaring fires and good food. Spring provides abundant cherry blossoms, which are particularly beautiful against the backdrop of Cambridge's architecture, and parks (Midsummer Common, Parkers Pieces, Christ's Pieces and Jesus Green) are painted with colour and filled with birdsong. Summer brings the major Summer in the City festival, as well as the Folk Festival and the Strawberry Fair and the river becomes a carnival of experienced and novice punters entertaining the several groups of people having picnics or listening to live music next to the river. Autumn brings the Food Garden and Produce Festival, as well as the Cambridge Open Day, where Cambridge University opens its doors to the public, offering a range of talks, walks, exhibitions and visits to libraries and rare books. Autumn is the season of the light, when Cambridge's majestic trees steal the show.
On Guy Fawkes night (bonfire night), you can watch the fireworks from the top floor and, should you want to join the festivities and get a closer look of the bonfire, Midsummer Common is just a 5 minute walk away.
Cambridge hardly has a quiet season, although it is easy to find solitude in the ample quiet chapels, gardens and parks. People of all ages are walking and cycling, at all hours of the day or night, to and from theatres, restaurants and events. It is a town where one can get lost in culture and beauty.

Dry docs was developed by two doctors who travel to refuel. They have chosen their favourite areas and designed spaces that they themselves use as a base for adventure, exploring, enjoying the simple things in life and resting. They have a particular interest in all matters relating to culture, water and boats, which will be evident when you enter through each door.
We invite you to our docks, whether you want to dry off and take time out of stormy waters or whether you want a base from which to catch the high winds and launch a great trip.
But do heed John Steinbeck's advice, we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.
Walking distance to town, along the river and University boathouses. On the river; sit next to the river watching the birds, ducks and swans whilst having breakfast, lunch or supper. Well equipped kitchen. Sauna, spa bath and plunge pool. South facing garden, so sunshine (when available).
Garden with direct access to river (great for bird, swan and duck watching). Use of Dinghy boat and three bicycles included. Walking distance to town (charming walk next to river).
We have been here for 100 glorious days. Having access to grocery stores, restaurants and local quality entertainment - all on foot made for a perfect Summer. Thank you for entrusting us with your lovely home.
The property is beautifully presented and full of great features and nice touches - a real home-from-home. The garden with sauna, hot tub, plunge pool, BBQ and lovely seating area right down by the river is a highlight, but the whole property worked really well for our weekend stay in Cambridge - a big thank you to our hosts!
We stayed in Cambridge for my daughter's Easter Holiday. It took 15-20 minutes walking from the coach station (Park side) to the house along an easily recognized road. Calling a cab is another choice which only takes a few minutes. We enjoyed walking to the town center when the weather was fine.
The house is well equipped and tastefully decorated for living comfortably. There's plenty space for my daughter to prepare her school work. She enjoyed cooking there.
The owner was very supportive and solved emergency event quickly.
