Why Carol Hester chose Milam
Crappie House offers a unique opportunity to stay in a mid-century modern cabin and to live the good life as you lounge on the balcony or dine over the water in the screened dock house. And of course, there is the world-class fishing, not to mention the large outdoor area, perfect for creating memories with your family or friends.
What makes this Cabin unique
Few properties offer the acreage, accessibility to the lake, and the amenities that Crappie House has to offer, including a private boat launch, large fire pit and screened dock house with sitting and dining areas. Located just north of the Pendleton Bridge, Crappie House is situated at nearly the midpoint of the lake, allowing access to both the north and south ends.

Very Nice!! Beautiful views!
Everything was so nice and relaxing would definitely go back again. The catfish were biting came home with plenty.. Time for a fish fry!! The Hester's have a nice place makes you feel right at home.
Thank you, Debbie, for such a nice review -- our first! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay, and we hope to see you back in the future!
Exactly as portrayed in the listing!!!
Except!!! We didn't catch a fish off the pier....we caught a turtle! Still had a great time. What a beautiful place! The boat ramp is right by the house and docking your boat in the lake for the weekend makes it so convenient. The fishing pier is so nice. Screened in area allows you sit and enjoy the breeze off the lake without the bugs. Saving the best for last - the cabin. Exactly as the pictures show. A beautiful view of the lake from the cabin. So cozy. Seemed like everything you could need except food was provided. Comfortable seating. Comfortable beds. Couldn't have asked for a nicer place. We will definitely return to this gem on our next trip to Toledo Bend.
Pretty but unfortunate
Wonderful cabin and great vibe/decor.
My only regret is a constant sound from the septic tank that kept us up all night and ruined a peaceful night/morning/day. We left early because of this. . I’m sure this will be fixed in the future but money was lost. I mentioned the fact that we left early because of the sound and there has been no mention of even a partial refund.
Because of VRBO rules, the guest is unable to edit her review although she is willing to do so. Due to a miscommunication, the guest was unaware at the time of her writing that we fully intended to – and did – refund the two missed nights of her stay. Our policy is to refund the guest or offer future return credit if they are unable to remain due to an incident regarding the property. In this case lightning had struck the septic system causing an alarm to go off. The alarm does not normally sound, and the septic system was checked the next week and had continued to function properly despite the hit. Guests are provided our phone number to call in the event of emergency, and they may rest assured that we will act immediately to the best of our ability.
Perfect for fishermen and families!
We stayed at the crappie house for 2 days and really enjoyed the peace, beauty and seclusion. We are a family of 6, 3 teenage boys and an insect loving girl, we had plenty of room and the beds were amazingly comfortable! The house has plenty of board games, books and some DVDs. The kitchen has everything you need from toaster oven, to 2 coffee pots(Keurig, drip) microwave, a table for 6 and plenty of silverware and cooking utensils(pizza cutter, grater, tongs etc). The living room has very comfy recliners to nap in after fishing for 12 hours! With DirecTV and a flat screen there was no complaining once we came inside! A very important factor to me is the AC, when I rent a property, I want to be comfortable and it's not very comfortable when the AC is locked on 78 or 80! Not at this cabin, we had complete control of the AC and it definitely works! Although the cabin is comfy, cold and well stocked, nothing compares to having your very own private dock, tree swing, fire pit, beautiful pine trees and a huge yard for horseshoes or tossing a football! We didnt use the boat ramp this time around but it's in great shape, wide and on the same property as the house! My family absolutely loved staying here in total we caught ten fish in 2 days. The dock is awesome plenty of chairs, table and a fan inside the screened in area. A couple of things I really loved about the dock, was the railing was sturdy and high and it was pleasantly clean! Spiders and webs were very minimal! Inside the home as well, I didnt come across 1 spider or critter of any kind, THANK GOD! We are absolutely in love with this property and will definitely be back!
Very nice place we loved it

The house was perfect!
The view from the patio was amazing over looking the lake. The sunrise and sunsets were breath taking! Great location for when we went fishing. Everything you needed was supplied for us. Thank you for sharing your home
