This beautiful 'Old Tahoe style' luxury cabin on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe is special. The private cabin sleeps 1-3. The home is located very near to Lake Tahoe and is only a short stroll to the lake-front homeowners beach, Firesign Café, West Shore Market & Deli, Sunnyside Resort and bike and water-sport rentals. Three miles to Homewood ski resort and an easy drive to Squaw Valley, Alpine and other popular North Shore downhill ski resorts and nordic center.
Amenities include dishwasher, microwave, cable flat screen TV, VCR, DVD, high speed Internet and off street parking. This beautiful West Shore property is near to bike path and is located an easy 2 mile ride from Tahoe City.
We moved to Tahoe full time in June of 2013. The West Shore location is ideal! This North Tahoe community is comprised of warm friendly people who enjoy and value an active and healthy life style.

Lake Tahoe is a spectacular destination for any time of the year. We are conveniently located near many restaurants, shops, ski resorts and more.
This rental is near Homewood Resort, Alpine and world class Squaw Valley ski resort. This location also includes access to the outstanding beach-front homeowners park. The private Lake Tahoe Park Homeowner Association includes over 800 feet of beach area on the beautiful west shore of Lake Tahoe. Two deep water piers offer a convenient loading area for boaters and a relaxing locale for sun bathers. More than three acres of land are beautifully landscaped and meticulously maintained throughout the Summer. Relax in the shade on the expansive lawn area. The kids will love the volleyball court, horseshoe pits, basketball hoop and play area complete with swing sets. Set amongst the grounds are numerous lake front picnic tables and barbecues offering unparalleled views of the lake.
We spent the most relaxing 4 nights at the Buckhorn cabin! The location is awesome! Walking distance to the lake, Sunnyside and a phenomenal deli! Near great hiking trails and ski resorts. I love to cook, so was happy to have a well-stocked kitchen. The owners are extremely nice and helpful! We will definitely return, once the snow season kicks in!
Lovely cabin, very clean. Kitchen very well stocked. Has nice sized refrigerator, but bearings seemed to be going out. Every 15 minutes or so, heard loud klunk. Very nice sized bathroom. Has tub to step in for shower- seems a bit high. May not work for elderly folks. Also has stairway up to cabin which is over garage, so may not work for those who can't climb stairs. Short walk (some hills) to HOA park. HOA park is lovely. Carolyn reserved a table/BBQ at lakeside level for us on Saturday- it was fabulous!
Only issue (other than refrigerator and tub/shower) was the lack of airflow through cabin. We were there when temp was in 90's. Tried fan that was on thermostat, but was ineffective. Opened all windows and front door during day, but couldn't do that on all windows at night due to bears. This cabin would benefit with 2 ceiling fans to help circulate air better.
My wife and I just returned from a long late-June weekend in Lake Tahoe spent at the Buckhorn Cabin, where we stayed for 3 nights.
We were visiting Lake Tahoe for the first time for a "mini-moon" (following our own wedding just a couple weeks prior) but also for the destination wedding of a friend. Our time spent there did not disappoint.
The cabin itself is cozy, clean and even nicer than we had anticipated, decorated in a mountain-lodge style that seemed very appropriate for the surroundings. As there were just two of us, we wanted something in a convenient location that would be large enough to accommodate a couple without sacrificing quality for space (many Tahoe-area house rentals at a similar price point offer several or many bedrooms but appear to have seen better days). The house is conveniently situated within walking distance of the lake itself, several local but tasty restaurants and an excellent gourmet market to boot.
Carolyn (the owner) lives with her family just next door and was very personable and full of suggestions and recommendations based on our interests and tastes. We enjoyed several conversations with her during our stay which made the experience feel more personal but which also helped to orient us to the area. Carolyn was also accommodating of our late arrival and departure times, which we appreciated very much. While we didn't have any of our pets with us, we fell in love with her dog Bentley on first sight!
We would highly recommend the Buckhorn cabin, in particular to any couple planning to visit the Lake Tahoe region.
We stayed at the Buckhorn Cabin for 3 nights with our 10-year-old son. The cabin was lovely and very comfortable. We cooked most of our meals and found the kitchen to be well-stocked and easy to work in. The decor was upscale rustic feeling with charming little details like a bear toilet paper holder, model boats, and a vintage stove. One of the owners was there, and he was very pleasant and accommodating. The cabin is also very well located - close to Squaw and Alpine Meadows ski resorts, restaurants, the lake, and a great health food store down the road. We would definitely come back.
My husband and I stayed at Buckhorn over Easter weekend with our 9-year-old yellow lab, Calvin. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and loved the charm and cleanliness of this quiet, beautifully-appointed cabin. We have been vacationing in Tahoe all our lives and this is truly one of the best places we've stayed. I am particularly fussy (my husband would say, "neurotic") about cleanliness, especially since we've been traveling with our dog. We love to bring him when we can but have found that "pet friendly" frequently means that we are in less than ideal accommodations. We try to avoid pet-friendly places with wall-to-wall carpeting, if possible, but they're hard to find. Buckhorn is one of the rare places that has hardwood floors (with area rugs) and tile throughout! It's always hard to know whether an accommodation will actually look like the website pictures but Buckhorn did not disappoint. We loved the high ceilings, knotty pine, open floor plan, and rustic charm of the décor. The bed was very comfortable with its memory foam topper and although we did not cook, there seemed to be everything you would need if you wanted to eat-in. My husband had concerns about being over someone's garage but the layout of this detached unit was very private with its own entrance and so quiet. I don't think anyone even opened the garage doors. We walked into Tahoe City (about 2 miles) along the bike path and enjoyed wandering through the neighborhood streets along the lake. The cabin is also within short walking distance to Fire Sign (amazing breakfasts) and only 20 minutes from Alpine and Squaw. All-in-all, we would highly recommend Buckhorn and will definitely be back! Thank you, Carolyn!
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy and posh little retreat of a cabin. It was perfect for our family of 3, with a little roll away cot for our 7 year old, and our Lab. The cabin is well appointed and nicely decorated, with pine walls, comfy furniture and plenty of linens. Because it is above the garage, it is very private and quiet, but the owners are accessible to help with any issues since they are onsite. Note that the walls partition the space of the A-frame but do not go all the way up to the ceiling. More airy and also a little less private when in the bath areas. We found the cabin to be so restful, that we made our dinners in, and read and played board games. It was just too cozy to leave! We also enjoyed walking the friendly neighborhood with our dog, and our son used one of the sleds provided by the owners.
