Short drive to town, 1/5th of a mile to Surfside bike path, less than 2 miles from the popular south shore beaches of Surfside and Miacomet. Our house is very close to lots of other beaches and about 1/2 hour from Great Point. Lots to do for both children and parents: a day at the beach to ride the waves, swim, sail, kayak or just play in the sand; biking; golfing on Nantucket's public golf courses; visiting Nantucket's museums, historic houses and many lighthouses; and eating and shopping in historic Nantucket center! The NEW Stop and Shop supermarket makes stocking the house easy. It is less than ten minutes away from the house. We are 1/5th of a mile from the affordable shuttle bus service that conveniently runs throughout Nantucket. Our house is a non-smoking home.
The actual dates of our stay were in aug/2012 and aug/2013 and we are very much looking forward to our return in 2015!
Our family of 5 (3 kids ages 11, 9 and 6) is a perfect here and my children refer to it by name, "Paradise Found".
It has the perfect amount of space for both eating, sleeping and relaxing which translates to very little to attend to on vacation which makes life very easy.
An outside shower is perfect after a long day (even when home late, as there is a light over the top) at the beach and the WiFi allows my husband get work done and still get in some beach time.
The home is comfortable and relaxed and clean and is located very close to the Surfside Path for a run which is essential in our days on Nantucket.
The kitchen is new and contains everything you could need for any meal during the day.
The deck has a grill that is in good shape and the yard is very large for the kids to run around and play.
We spend almost every day we can at the beach but even on rainy days when we need to hang at the house, there is the perfect amount of space for us all to have some quiet time.
There is a small room off of the kitchen with a 2nd TV that allows the kids to watch a movie and still give the adults some quiet time to read or nap.
Everything is up to date and the A/C comes in very handy when the nights don't get as cool as expected!
For us, the location is perfect in between both Cisco and Miacomet beaches, not far from Cisco Brewery or Bartlett's Farm. We can walk to the beach if we want although we mostly drive due to all of the gear we bring.
Overall Paradise Found is a home run and we can't wait for this years return!!
Explore the bike paths that run throughout the island - you can rent bicycles that can be delivered to your door, or walk or rollerblade. Spend the day at Miacomet or Surfside, two of Nantucket's most beloved beaches, which are closest to the house. There are countless other beaches just minutes away from the house. Nantucket boasts the Cisco Brewery, where there are tours and tastings. Just beyond the Brewery is Bartlett's Farm, a large farmer's market with a well-stocked gourmet market that sells fresh produce, delectable prepared foods, breads, cheeses and sandwiches. It's a perfect place to grocery shop or to pick up lunch on the way to any of the nearby beaches, including Cisco and Bartlett's. If it rains, town and all its wonderful shops and restaurants are less than a ten minute drive away. There are 2 public golf courses. The shuttle bus is 1/5th of a mile down the road and runs throughout the island.
Other Activities: visiting the island's museums & lighthouses, boogie-boarding, kayaking
