Overview

About the property

Period apartment close to Baker Street and Marylebone stations, Sleeps four

Just a short stroll from Baker Street Station you will find this bijou Georgian apartment. A perfect place from which to explore London and visit the well known sights and attractions.

This quiet street has no through traffic so you won't be disturbed at night, yet you have London on your doorstep. Madame Tussaud's and the Sherlock Holmes museum are just around the corner. Marble Arch and the famous shops on Oxford Street are just a 15 minute walk through the streets of the West End. Hop on a bus or tube from Baker Street Station and before you know it you will be admiring Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Take a stroll along the South Bank and visit the London Eye. The British Museum, the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square and Tate Modern are all within half an hour’s travel.

This is authentic London so try traditional Fish and Chips at the Seashell or enjoy Sunday lunch at The Chapel, my favourite local pub with a fine selection of beers and a gourmet menu. All of these are just a few minutes away. A little further along explore the intriguing metropolis London has become. Edgware Road, with it's delicious Middle Eastern restaurants. Crawford Street has splendid Thai and Indian curry houses. Baker Street has many restaurants, from Pizza and Pasta to Mexican and Japanese.

Rustle up a quick breakfast or dinner in the kitchen, fully equipped with gas hob, microwave combination oven and a fridge freezer. Both Tesco and Marks Spencer are less than 5 minutes away and they are open late, so grocery shopping is quick and easy. Eating in can be fun too and helps balance the budget! Don't want to cook? Just order a takeaway for delivery within the hour.

There is an iMac for you to use or you can connect your own devices to the WiFi. Check the latest bargains or current exhibitions London has to offer or connect with the folks back home. Once you have ‘done’ the major sights, take time to explore the area and find your own London. Stroll down Marylebone High Street with its eclectic shops or visit the fascinating Wallace Collection on Manchester Square.

Check out some television on the 32' flat screen TV or watch a movie on the Blu-Ray player, which also has Netflix, YouTube and the BBC iPlayer. Or relax with one of the books I have provided.

If you have an iPhone or iPad I recommend the City Mapper app for getting around London and the Table Pouncer app for finding a table at a restaurant with a huge discount!

Constant hot running water is available for a long bath to relax or a refreshing shower: the choice is yours. Fluffy towels give you that luxurious feel. If you are staying a bit longer, feel free to use the efficient Hotpoint washer dryer. The 30 degree time saving wash gets things done in just over an hour. Clothes airer, Ironing board and Iron are provided as well as a hair-dryer.

This is an entire home that is fully serviced. If you would like additional cleans or changes of towelling and bed linen then these can be booked upon request. A welcome pack is provided with tea, coffee, chocolate, fresh milk, toiletries as well as dishwasher & washing machine tablets.

Free high speed wifi included.

I think it's got all you need for a comfortable stay in London. Try it for yourself and let me know if you think the same!

About Neil Roberts

This was my first flat when I was working as an editor in the West End, I bought it because I didn't like the idea of commuting in every day and I'm so glad I did.

The area is lovely with easy access to the West End but with the tranquillity of Regents Park and so many great shops and restaurants.

Why Neil Roberts chose Westminster & West End

The apartment is close to the bustling heart of London but in a quiet street with no traffic. Ideally located for travelling by underground from Baker Street, train from Marylebone and even by air from Heathrow which is only half an hour away on the Heathrow Express from Paddington.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, Location, Location! This flat is so centrally located but in a quiet street within easy walking distance of Regents Park, Baker Street, St Johns Wood and Edgware Road. Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus and London's Theatreland are just a few minutes away by bus or tube as are all of the tourist attractions like Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and the London a Eye on the South Bank.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Neil's place was a wonderful hideaway for a couple with a few days in London. It is comfortable and well-appointed, and lots of snacks and amenities made us feel very welcome. It is very very close to Marylebone station and easy access to underground and train. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, but shopping and restaurants are very close. We would definitely stay here again. (Also major Sherlock Holmes decor, if the proximity to Baker Street is what draws you to this listing.)

Nice flat near local attractions and 2 tube stations

  • 4 of 5

Small flat that is easy to get to and near plenty of attractions. Walk to the zoo and Regents Park, Sherlock Holmes, Madame Tussauds, Baker and Marlebone Tube Stations. It has a washer/dryer combo and small fridge/microwave/over combo as well.

The pull out couch is very uncomfortable. I was on it for a week and my back was aching. It would have been fine for a kid. The bed in the bedroom is very comfortable. We spend 10 days here. The handle of the bathroom was broken when we arrived, they sent someone out to fix it who didn't do a very good job and had to call again. The space is a little awkward with the way the door opens into the living room.

The tub was nice to soak in. Grocery stores nearby and a cute pub up the street with decent food/beer.

I would stay again here for the location. Would have been better for just 2 people. Building was quite and big windows throughout.

great location, clean apartment

  • 4 of 5

I would of given it a 5, but hallway leafing up to apartment smelled of cigarettes, and carpet was dirty there. Though inside was great. Would recommend, and stay again.

Fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my partner and my two children stayed at this lovely little Victorian flat for a weeks holiday in London. The flat is stylish with wonderful little decorative pieces, and all the modcons you could need! Wifi, TV and the computer helped to keep the kids occupied, whilst we planned our next outing and the coffee machine refuelled us for it!

Although only one bedroom it fitted me and my family very comfortably. The flat is right around the corner from Marylebone station and just a short walk away from shops such as m&s and tescos which made life much easier for us.

There was a heatwave in London while we stayed with temperatures reaching 31 degrees! But by opening the windows and keeping shut the Victorian shutters we had a lovely cool

breeze throughout the flat! That mixed with a couple of cold beers after a long day of sightseeing was absolute heaven!

Neil was lovely and very accommodating, it was so refreshing to have things like fresh bread and English jams at the flat. Very thoughtful!

We loved our holiday, and a big part of that was having this great flat to come home to each evening and relax in. Lovely and peaceful in the evening. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Thanks Neil, Tabitha and Andrew

Great location, could use a bit of tweaking

  • 4 of 5

Overall, the flat is so cute! Really enjoyed the Sherlock/Cool Britannia decor and the location is superlative: about three minutes from the Marylebone station and ten from Regent's Park. It was small and my 6'4" had to sleep on the sofa by himself because the bed was so small but he is an outlier and the three of us dealt with the flat size just fine.

There were a few issues that I raised privately, so hopefully they will be managed: when London heats up, the flat is a sauna - we had difficulty sleeping every night. A couple of good Vornado/Dyson oscillating fans would go a long way and I almost bought one for our three day visit. The kitchen sink faucet was broken into two pieces and had been scotch taped together so it sprayed water all over the kitchen. We had to fix it ourselves with thicker tape and a rubber band to be able to use it. Guests spending good money on a flat should have working appliances but we needed the sink so decided to McGuyver it ourselves. Also, the freezer was thick with frost and had a terrible, rancid smell so it was unusable and nasty. The flat could use a nice, fresh paint job, too. I told the manager and he was responsive so I believe things will improve. It's a cute place and it is obvious that care has gone into it. We enjoyed the decor, books and DVDs and the location. Just needs some TLC to justify the rental rate. Oh, and Diana was a sweetheart! Met us at the flat with keys and chocolates. We left her some Peonies and hope she enjoys them! Thank you!

Authentic English apartment

  • 5 of 5

Authentic English apartment located in a very quiet street but very close to 2 major tube stations. The apartment was fitted out with everything - including detailed instructions on ""how to use"". We were greeted by a lovely man who showed us around the apartment which was very helpful. A small Tesco is located very close for you to buy some essentials for the apartment. On the negative, a bit small but very typical English. On the second floor so be prepared to stairs. Overall a fantastic apartment in a wonderful area.
