About Karen Coan
I have enjoyed the beach house my entire life. My uncle built the house in 1928 and it has remained in our family since then. My family lived here year-round until 1950, and then we enjoyed summers at the beach, working, playing, and maintaining the house. It remains a getaway year round -- walks on the beach any time of year are a treat.
Karen Coan purchased this Cottage in 1983
Why Karen Coan chose Old Lyme
It's been part of my life as well as my two daughters our entire lives. Its peace and tranquility offer a place to retreat when any of us need to distance ourselves from the fast pace of everyday life. The beach house has many special memories from cowboys and Indians to weddings, cookouts and fun gatherings with friends and family. Most who know us and return year after your know of our special place in the sand. Some even refer to it as "their cottage."
What makes this Cottage unique
We enjoy a larger beachfront area than our neighbors affording us lots of space to lounge, play games, have cookouts, etc. Parking is in close proximity across the road.

Great beach vacation.
This was a perfect place for a beach vacation. Very cute cottage, nice private beach in a great area. I will definitely be renting this cottage again.
Always 5 stars!
My family has been vacationing here for 13 years. Always a great stay! Great family vacation spot.
Always so happy to have families return that love our special place. Thanks for the accolades.
This location is ideal for walks along both the beach and the street. Very private, friendly atmosphere. Home is convenient to golf courses, jet skiing, restaurants, antiquing, entertainment and shopping depending on your interests.
See nesting osprey to the north, and the lights of Orient Point lighthouse and Plum Island to the south, the Old Saybrook lighthouse to the west and New London lighthouse to the east.
Beach association offers children's activities (movie nights, painting, scavenger hunts, July 4th parade, etc.) and beach general store (close walking distance) is a fun place for both kids and kids-at-heart, as well as a source for the daily paper and the basics.
Tennis courts are open for use at the end of the street and bike riding is a popular pastime. Famous Sound View donuts can be purchased at your doorstep from baskets brought around by local children.
