Great House and Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just completed our second (2015 & 2016) 1 month winter stay at Pelican Retreat and cannot be any happier. The house has everything you need regarding cooking, eating, drinking etc. All bed items were great, washer and dryer excellent! All kitchen appliances worked fine as did the supplied gas grill and A/C / heat (when needed). Its nice for parking with a two stall garage with good overhead doors. The location of this house is great for morning sunrise, ease to the beach, you can walk to Publix and the small stores and restaurants in the Vilano Town center. The property offers 3 baths (1 on each floor) hot water is good for all showers with an exceptional master. The bedrooms are good and the master suite is large and has a great closet. When you open the bedroom doors of the master first thing in the morning, the view well you have to experience it! Vilano has much to offer for a relaxing time and this property is right in the middle of it. The surroundings of the house are quiet and safe, neighbors are friendly. You are just a quick jump to downtown St Augustine as well as Anastasia Island. Many recreations areas, things to do and options for golfers. The owner is a top shelf person if you need anything and the manager of this property is great to deal with and very friendly and also considerate of your needs. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for a week or extended stay believe me you will enjoy! We most definitely will go for the third trip in 2017!

Wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

I wholeheartedly recommend Pelican House. We had our extended family stay there and everyone had a comfortable bed and all really liked the house. It has a well stocked kitchen and plentiful towels, sheets, and blankets. The view of the beach is stunning, especially in the evening. It was a worry free week and we would return again.

A wonderful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has a reunion every year at a different beach site, so we have a great deal of experience with beach rentals. This was probably the best beach rental we have ever stayed in. The kitchen had everything you could need at hand. The only complaint we had about the kitchen was that the stove and oven were not the greatest, but it wasn't bad enough that we requested any service. The house was stocked with about a dozen and a half beach towels, about 10 beach chairs, and several blow up mattresses. The beds were comfortable and the layout was great! We had 9 people sleeping in the house and 5 others staying in a nearby hotel who would spend time during the day and for dinner at the house. The house accommodated all of us comfortably. We also took advantage of the Serenata Beach Club offer and found that to be a very nice place to work out and to swim in their pool. There is not a cover on the deck, so it was difficult to spend time out there, so if you have a portable beach tent, I recommend you bring that to use as cover on the deck. We saw neighbors doing that and thought it was a great idea. The beach for the house is a public beach where cars can park. We did not love that part, but if you turn to the right once you get on the beach there is a beautiful area of beach without cars. There is also a lifeguard on duty. We loved our time in this house and would highly recommend it!

Our 2nd time back and Loved it just as much!!

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed with Pelican Retreat in summer of 2012 that we came back! I can't express how nice it is having EVERYTHING you might need for a week at the beach at this rental! Air mattresses, beach toys, high chairs, pack n plays, etc. They provide linens and towels (at no extra charge), there was laundry detergent, dish soap, trash bags, all provided for us. The furnishings are well kept, the unit clean (not new, but much better than you'd expect from a waterfront beach rental), the location perfect! The view from inside the main living area of the house with the three sliding glass doors is amazing. Sitting on the porch for morning coffee and cocktails is just divine. Plenty of porch seating for everyone. So, so nice to have lifeguard station on the beach in front of the rental. No worries about someone getting swept out to sea! Short walk over the dunes from the oceanfront porch to the beach. Love this area too...no big commercial hotels, just private homes and rental properties. Grocery shopping and restaurants close by. Downtown St Augustine and all it has to offer a short 10 minute drive. Owner Ahmed and property manager Wanda respond quickly to emails and concerns and made our stay a delight! Thank you for another great week!!!

Exceptionally stocked! Baby ready!

  • 5 of 5

I organized a week's vacation for my entire extended family - including two kids under 8 and my 1 year old nephew. Everyone was incredibly impressed with how well stocked the house was! We had everything we could possibly want. I was especially impressed with how well stocked it was for kids. There were THREE pack n plays and FOUR baby gates to ensure safety. There were many beach chairs and beach toys in the garage for the older kids to choose from. The location is wonderful for easily being able to go to the beach. Downtown St. A's was a 10 minute drive away. We enjoyed coffee on the patio overlooking the beach and sunrise each morning - and the sounds of the waves and stars on the patio in the evening. It was enchanting.

Best Equipped Rental Ever

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Pelican Retreat. It was large enough that we didn't get in each other's way, beach front and very comfortable. I loved that there were safety gates, pack 'n plays, high chairs for our youngest granddaughter; beach toys, surf boards for our older two. Thanks for providing those things. We loved having enough towels and linens, but really appreciated the extras -- so many beach towels, paper products and spices in the cabinets. I just wish we had known that they were provided for our use -- so we wouldn't have packed and carried them from home.

As several other people reviewed, the couches were difficult to get out of. Our only other complaint was the cars on the beach. We were not aware that there was driving on this part of the beach and it really kept us on guard watching out for our young grandchildren.

My only suggestion would be to put mirrors in the bedrooms on the main level of the home. We had to share bathrooms and could have done "hair and make-up" in our rooms if we could have seen ourselves.

Would we stay there again? In a heart-beat. Thanks for a great vacation.

Notes:
The home has 3 floors. The ground floor has a bath, an attached oversized two car garage, one bedroom with a king bed, and another with two twin beds. The second floor as the great room with cathedral ceilings and three sliding glass doors opening to large wrap-around porch facing the ocean., The grill is located on that porch and it has plenty of chairs. The view from this porch of the ocean and the Inlet is amazing. There is an exterior staircase from the porch to the backyard. There is a walkway from the backyard to the beach. The back of this floor has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. Between the bedrooms and the great room is the kitchen, which is open to the great room, and a full bath. The top floor has a loft which has the queen sleeper sofa. It has an unobstructed view of the ocean through 3 large window panes. Behind the loft is the master bedroom with a king bed. It has a full bath, a walk-in closet, and a porch that is only accessible from that bedroom.
