Long Point has the two fully equipped kitchens, 2 living areas, 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bath. The south side has central air-conditioning. Additionally, there is a gas fireplace in the south living room, Each room has individually controlled heat with its own thermostat.
While on this Great Island oceanfront property with about 700 feet of waterfront right on Casco Bay including three private coves and its own private deep dock floating wharf, you can make friends with the lobster men right from the dock on Casco Bay, swim, paddle, fish, sail, unless you'd rather shop, or just plain relax and let the water soothe your stresses away. +/- 10 acres, wooded oceanfront acres also adjacent to a fresh water pond across the road on the same property.
This unique oceanfront year-round home has FIVE BR. This can be broken out into a 2BR or a 3BR home during NON peak season. Only one party can rent at a time, regardless of configuration.
Long Point boasts of breathtaking views/expansive privacy (+/- 10 acres). While facing Quahog Bay and catching the morning sunrise, the 2 fully equipped separate eat-in kitchens have multiple expansive windows facing the magnificent views of the oceanfront just feet away from the water's edge. Each of the 2 living areas, also with multiple windows, are bright and cheery with their own private decks. One can be on the south deck and be totally separated from anyone on the north deck.
Included: private dock; cable TV; 3 TVs; 3 DVD players; hi-speed cable Internet access; WiFi; outdoor bluetooth speakers; central air on south side; gas FP on south side; EIGHT (8) kayaks; 1canoe; Phantom sailboat; 2000# granite mooring; 3 hammocks; 2 Weber gas grills; 2 outdoor propane burners for all those "lobsters"; 8 foot picnic table; unground fire pit with seating for 12!
The new in-ground fire-pit has everyone talking. Toasting those marshmallows by a wood burning fire overlooking the bay in comfortable ample outdoor seating for 12 has made for lots of memory making!
This approximately 10 acre waterfront property has three private coves, one of which is a 'sandy' cove and swimmers, toddlers and clam diggers can wade into it. The floating dock is typically in the water from mid-May through mid-October depending on the weather. Fishermen/women can try their luck right off of the rocks. Those lucky ones hook striper or bluefish. Available are EIGHT (8) kayaks (LL Bean Manatee recreational variety) and ONE Olde Town canoe (LL Bean) than can be rowed or paddled. Additionally, Phantom described online as "Phantom Hull is wider, lighter, and more freeboard in front part hull. When look closely you can see Phantom hull sides are not that vertical compare to sunfish. The typical one-piece construction deck-cockpit (like Laser) force sailer sit a little farther from the center."
(personal 1 -2 person sailboat) is now part of the Long Point fleet.
Area restaurants include local lobster establishments such as the renowned Cooks and The Gurnet, which cooks your phoned-in lobster order to your specifications and has it ready TO GO for when you show up! Other restaurants are in downtown Brunswick which also accommodate Bowdoin students and parents. Bath, Wiscasset, Freeport and Portland are all in the vicinity. Hiking, x-c skiing are also to be enjoyed locally.

A Dream Come True
Hilda has made this home so welcoming and provides every detail that makes it hard to want to leave. There is a reason she gets so many repeated guests. The view, the location, and the home itself is a package deal that's hard to beat. This is one home I would love to return to one day. Thanks for the memories Hilda.
I am so happy that Long Point not only met but exceeded your expectaions! Thank you for your kind words.
Lovely place with all the traditional New England charm.
This was a special find for us. If you really want to know what Maine looks like, feels like and lives like this is the place. In addition, Hilda has thought of everything to make your stay quite comfortable and charming. It has the traditional charm with all the comforts. It’s lovely and Hilda was wonderful to work with! We will be back!!
Thanks so much for your kind words. It's so rewarding to know that your Long Point stay was everything you hoped it would be!

a great place for family to gather and have fun and relax, wonderful views, great place for the kids to explore the shoreline, saw different sea birds and a sea otter, watched the lobster fisherman; the house has everything you need except the food( although even condiments and many spices available)

Special Place with Countless Great Features
My family and friends rented Long Point over a long weekend in November 2016 and we were very lucky to have beautiful mild Maine weather. We all fell in love with everything about the house, the property and the surrounding area. We were a party of 10 and the home accommodated us very easily. Some of our favorite things were the gas fireplace, wonderful comfortable beds, open living/dining areas where all could spend time together comfortably, the fire pit and the general peace and quiet of the beautiful setting. Oh! And the unbelievable view and sunrises! We also had that full super moon which lit up the water at night and we could see the clouds and islands out in the water. Short trips to Freeport and Brunswick were fun as well as slightly longer trips to Boothbay and Portland.
If you are lucky enough to spend time there, Long Point is a special place with too many wonderful qualities to mention here. Hilda Douglas is an ideal hostess and we all thank her for sharing Long Point with us. It’s an inspirational place.
Thank you, Lynn. I'm thrilled to know that you and your guests had a wonderful time and that Long Point lived up to your expectations!!
Ideal location and house for a friends get-togethe
Over the years, I have rented Hilda's house several times. I keep returning. Why? Beautiful setting. Clean well-kept house. The kayaking possibility. Walks out the door. Easy drive to stores for supplies.
This year, we discovered Libby's Market in Brunswick for the very best Lobster Rolls. Took a day trip to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
Really did not have to go anywhere....cannot beat the views from the front decks. Beautiful. Plan to return next year!
It's always such a pleasure to know you enjoyed your stay at Long Point, yet again!
Lovely home & phenomenal water views
A good friend of ours who lives in Harpswell recommended that we stay in this house when we went to her son's wedding in Portland, because she had stayed here in the past and was very happy with it. Great suggestion! The water views are the first thing noticed when entering the spacious living areas on both sides of the entry hallway. One of my friends took gorgeous photos (from her cell phone!) of the sunrise on Monday, our last day there. We had plenty of room for our group to spread out for quiet and privacy as needed. It was great to have two kitchens, two living areas, and two decks overlooking the water. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats emptying their traps and we saw a few seals. As one of the other reviewers said, Hilda is indeed an excellent owner who is very detail-oriented. She labeled the contents of all of the kitchen drawers (great idea!) and supplied instructions on how to use everything in the house (very nice touch to have a murphy bed in the living area in lieu of a sleeper sofa). Quaint Brunswick is only a 15 minute drive away and we shopped at the Shaw's for one night's dinner (we used the grill on the deck) and breakfasts. My only complaint: we were not there long enough to take advantage of all that the house and the area had to offer. We would definitely stay at Long Point again and I highly recommend it to other future renters.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Long Point. It's very rewarding to read your positive feedback!
Just like the song, the dilemma is 'Should I stay or should I go?' Staying on the property means enjoying a comfortable home with all of its abundant amenities including a floating dock system just a mere few feet away from the house (New construction has to be 75 feet back, however, this home is just a stone's throw from the water). Of course, those that like to get up and go can get to L.L. Bean and the Freeport outlets within approx 25 minutes. Bowdoin College and downtown Brunswick are about 10 minutes away. Cook's Lobster House is just minutes away on the next island. Edgecomb Pottery is always an artful destination. Lots of day trip opportunities to Camden, Rockland, Wiscassett, Damiscotta, Popham Beach and Reid State Park. Music and theatre performances are at Bowdoin. A 10-cinema movie complex right at Cook's Corner about 10 minutes away. Starbucks is 10 minutes for those of you who love your lattes! To get here, drive 2.5 hours from Boston, 40 minutes north of Portland Other Activities: kayaking. canoeing, sailing, fishing right from this property
