About Al and Pat

Two families that enjoy the outdoors and, still after 10 years of co-ownership, each other. The house is a great base for all our outdoor activities. Hiking, kayaking, cycling, skiing (dh & xc) snowshoeing, climbing (out of bed), fishing, shopping, golf (sort of).... all nearby. Collectively, we've traveled the US and abroad. But we do the 6+ hour drive to the Adirondacks routinely and have been doing so for over 30 years. For us, there's no other place like it.

Al and Pat purchased this house in 2006

Why Al and Pat chose Adirondacks

Initially, it was location, location, location, price and potential for a great place to bring family, friends and guests. Today, it's still about location but it's potential has been realized. Our ratings, all 31 of them as of this writing, speak for themselves.

What makes this house unique

It's not just convenient to town, it's in town. Lake Placid Village center is a 5 minute walk. It's comfortable; roomy without being cavernous and an amazing deal for multiple families and competitively priced for parties of 2. Like to cook, you'll love our kitchen. You can park your car; your sisters, brothers and mothers cars (4) and forget about it; walk around town. Did I mention bowling (never been).....right around the corner. Foodie restaurant and great drinks in rolling distance.....literally (been too often). And then there's something else seldom mentioned by other owners: we have the very best property manager in Lake Placid; seldom seen but there if you ever need him.

What an amazing house! We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children, ages 2 to 6, in Lake Placid for a family reunion/trip to Santa's Workshop and this house was absolutely perfect. It is spacious, extremely clean and well kept and has a wonderful deck with grill. We couldn't have asked for more and the location is ideal. The owners, Al and Pat, were always quick to respond to emails and were a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend this house to anyone.

Well stocked with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned from a family reunion in Lake Placid. We stayed in this house with our family of 8 while our relatives stayed at Art Devlin's. We hosted breakfast for 20 and a couple of happy hours on the deck. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, serve and entertain! We had 2 young children, 4 adult children and the 2 of us- Plenty of room for all! It was much nicer than renting 4 hotel rooms and we all got be together and save money by eating at home during the day. We were still able to walk back and fourth to the hotel to be with the other 25 family members and our family got to relax and enjoy time to ourselves! We only needed the car for grocery shopping and visiting some sites. Thank you for letting us stay in your home.

Wonderful vacation home! Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

This house was great! It fit 8 adults, 2 kids (sisters) and a baby very comfortably. The house was clean, updated, and close to "downtown" (within walking distance)! The huge deck was also a great ammentity! I have no complaints and would definitely recommend to a close friend. We will probably stay at this house again in the future!

I’ve rented this place with a large group of friends every year for the past 6 years around Christmas. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this property or it’s owners. The house is always clean, organized, and very inviting, I love the Adirondack feel of the place. The price for the quality and its’ convenient location simply cannot be beat in Lake Placid, and to top it off, the owners are extremely accommodating and responsive. It is roomy and comfortable inside and only about a 10-minute walk to the Lake Placid Brewery and a bunch of other great spots in town. If you are looking for a great place, in a great location with 0 hassle, that is what you’ll get here. Like I said, I’ve stayed here on vacation 6 times in the past, and plan to continue doing so every year.

Awesome stay, awesome owners, awesome property

Just PERFECT! House and property as described. Owner very responsive and helpful. We were 3 hockey families staying in town for games at the Olympic Ice arena. Two of the families have lived in lake placid in the past, so we knew this was a well priced, perfect location house for our needs.Walk to rink and hockey box on the oval! Four bedrooms, 2 baths upstairs, 1 bdrm and bath downstairs. Kitchen is well stocked, living room is perfect to hang out in the evening. Great deck gets afternoon sun for apre-ski or a team of girls having grilled hot dogs between games. Loved our weekend and our hosts. Definitely will return if the occasion arises and would highly recommend.
