My family and I have been renting this house, with the exception of one year, since 2001. The owner is gracious and accommodating, several times mailing items back home to us that we inadvertently left behind. The house is close to downtown and all of its amenities, yet private enough that you don't feel crowded by the other rentals. The owner has made many upgrades over the years (new appliances, beds, etc) and is very receptive to feedback. The proximity to the beach is perfect (40 second walk) and the outdoor living area (huge deck, private backyard with beautiful perennials & blueberry bushes) is a rarity in the surrounding neighborhood. We immensely enjoy our stay every year.
This 4 bedroom comfortable beds very welcoming century older home with many bathrooms walking distance to short sands beach, the quaint town with various eatery and shops and walking distance to Animal Kingdom. Every convenience the owner thought of and workable for small, medium or large families. The back deck has 2 tables with umbrellas for shade and seating for 12. BBQ grill with filled tank, delightful daily breezes being so close to the beach, owner made it very inviting and I enjoyed my vacation tremendously, it was wonderful to have 4 dedicated parking spaces at the house. I would highly recommend this vacation property.
Best location in the beach ! If being close to the sand is what you desire, then this is the place. 200' to the edge of the sand, loved the ease of going home for lunch or a quick nap and being right back on the beach to enjoy the sunset.
Large back deck for my family to gather on for meals and plenty of seating.
Interior is complete with fully equipped kitchen and plenty of space to lounge around. Ample parking for extended family and close to all the downtown activities and shopping. We had a blast out of this home and look forward to doing it again next summer!
The location of this house really is great. You walk down the drive and you can see the arcade and short sands beach. So that is a huge plus. We had a large group renting the house and there was a lot of clutter and furniture in the space. It could have been a better experience with less "stuff". No one had room to unpack their bags because there was no place to put their clothes. The house had an odd smell like maybe a pet had been there and had some accidents. The carpet was stained and dirty and overall the house just didn't seem clean. The deck was large and we spent a lot of time outside. The backyard was a good size for the kids to play in - but is not fenced in and opens to a major road. We found we purposely found ways NOT to be in the house since it didn't seem clean and was so cluttered it was hard to move around.
Free nightly concerts at Short Sands gazebo or pavilion. Arcade, bowling and miniature golf around the corner. Animal Kingdom Amusement Park 1/4 mile away. Walk to diining out at The Goldenrod, Inn on the Blues, Guac 'n Roll Mexican Restaurant, Union Bluff Pub and Restaurant, Rossi's Italian Bakery, and Gi Gi's Italian Restaurant at the Atlantic House with live bands, York Beach Fish Market, Woody's Pizza and innumerable other choices including various ice cream and gift shops as well as a convenience/grocery/wine and beer store all within 1/8 of a mile.
For the absolute best Burgers and Sandwiches in the Maine seacoast region, you will only be minutes away from the Fat Tomato Grill located right here in York Village, Maine. Although they have yet to receive any "Michelin Stars" for their great culinary efforts, they do buy Michelin Tires when they are on sale.
