Why Ellen and Dan Smith chose Blue Ridge
There is a great sense of peace and relaxation one feels from the moment they drive up until they leave. With a flat lot, right on Fightingtown Creek and an incredible interior design package, it's a place to fall in love with for each and every vacation!
What makes this Cabin unique
A custom renovation by renown designer, Keith Sumner, this cabin is amazing! Custom stone kitchen, master bath and more. Beautiful picture windows allow the inside to feel as if you are outside, yet in a beautiful, cozy setting. Rustic details set the ambiance for this truly special property in the mountains and on the water. The cabin appears to almost be floating in the water it's so close to Fightingtown Creek.

We loved the cabin tucked away in the mountains. The cabin is exactly as described. My family of four (2 teenage boys) enjoyed one week of peace and relaxation. We were able to decompress and spend quality family time. We loved loved the outdoor living room. We had good weather. I thought that being the last week in July it would be hot and humid, but it was surprisingly pleasant (not like our FL weather). The evenings got cooler and we were able to enjoy the outdoor fireplace. The creek is relaxing and crystal clear. We saw deer come by. We had an absolutely amazing getaway. Exactly what we needed!!! The owners were gracious and prompt to respond. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. It is beautifully decorated!!!! We definitely will be coming back.

Relaxing Birthday getaway!
We were very pleased with our stay at this beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable cabin. The outdoor fireplace, and the sound of the creek right outside your door, were definitely favorites of our trip.
Thank you so much for the great review! Have a wonderful rest of your summertime!
DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY!!!
My family rented this overpriced cabin the weekend after July 4th and were extremely disappointed. Before I list the rental problems, let me say the worst part was the Owner! They requested to be contacted with any issues. After checkout, I emailed them stating our complaints (not requesting any credits) and did not receive an answer until a week later. When the answer was received, instead of working on the issues she became combative and retaliatory! Making up reasons to complain about our stay. Even when I did not request a credit for the many issues with our rental, she SHORTED our deposit stating it was due to us leaving the cabin a mess which was totally untrue! She said we left ice cream everywhere, when we did not even have any ice cream and made a point to try and wipe everything down before leaving to help with her HUGE ANT problem. Also fabricating that we took and used the neighbors floats when we brought our own. This type of Owner is not the type you want to rent from!!
A FEW of the issues were as follows: Before arriving we were notified that the hot tub (the only amenity) had "just" quit working, which I questioned due to the color of the water in it and slime on the chlorine float. After arrival we found the inside of the cabin to be overrun by ants and the outside having multiple bee and yellow jacket nests! Several of our party received bites and stings. I personally sat in a chair and received multiple ant bites. The cabin was not clean, all showers had large amounts of hair in the drain and no soap was provided. The driveway was washed out and overgrown with limbs scratching the vehicles. No one dared to slightly cross any property lines even though they were not clearly marked, even in the river without being yelled at from the neighbors. I even suggested to the Owner that they may want to put a fence up to make sure no one accidentally crossed any lines! Bottom line, don't rent this overpriced cabin!
To future guests - We did review and address ALL the items this guest gave us upon check out. We called the exterminator, who came out the same day, but found no evidence of an infestation or even an ant anywhere in the house. While we do treat the property on a regular basis, the exterminator did an additional treatment as a precaution. There was no evidence of bees nests or of fire ants, either. The hot tub did indeed stop working a couple of hours prior to the check-in of this guest. We gave them a credit for the loss of this amenity. The hot tub has been repaired, the bromine floater has been replaced and overall the unit has been fully serviced and works beautifully. Our cleaning crew does a great job - please read our other reviews - and I was on the premises the day this guest checked in, as well as when they checked out due to their comments. Our cleaners work really hard and all of our other guests have been very pleased. The owner of the cleaning company comes by after every clean to spot check everything prior to the next guests check-in. We have two ways to access our cabin - the road and an additional private drive - neither of these access points are overgrown. The gravel may appear to washed out, however, our grader banks areas for water run off. We did not see anything out of the ordinary when we reviewed this point. We do clearly describe where the property lines are of our property and the neighboring properties in our guide book with a map. Our neighbor lives here full time and isn't tolerant of guests trespassing onto their property, but the map clearly describes this. They are really NICE neighbors, but ask that guests respect the boundaries.. Amenities of this cabin include direct access to Fightingtown Creek, an outdoor fireplace pavilion and TV at the water's edge, a gas interior log fireplace, a beautiful veranda wrapping the home, facing the creek, beautifully appointed details in this Keith Sumner designed home, luxury linens and we supply firewood. Guests need to bring their own sundries, food, and other personal items. We are competitively priced within the market for cabins with similar features. We do post house rules - not more than 6 guests - and we expect them to be followed.
Wonderful property - great location.
Beautiful cabin. Had a great stay with our two young kids.
Thanks for the great review! We hope to see you another time!
Used this cabin as our home base during our Blue Ridge Father's Day celebration this year. The house was perfect and as advertised. Very comfortable and well stocked for cooking and living. We had a great time and will return.
Sounds like you had a great Father's Day weekend! Thanks for staying at Creekside Veranda and we hope to see you another time!
