About the property

2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, outdoor hot/cold shower, sleeps 5 with oean view.

Cute Cape cottage with a sun room and outdoor private patio. House has a huge yard with an ocean view of Town beach. The living room has a fireplace for a chilly evening. Little Compton is very quiet and peaceful. The house is on a dead end, one lane road with light traffic for more quiet. The yard is very private behind the house and has a fenced in outside hot & coldl shower. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a queen size on the bottom and a twin on the top. There are 2 bathrooms one with a tub/shower and the other with a shower. There is a washer/dryer in the basement. Floors are hardwood and have been refinished except the kitchen which has ceramic tile. You can see the town beach from the house and there is also a town 'dog beach' on Sakonnet point which you can use.

Little Compton is a very safe town off the beaten path with excellent restaurants. Some PLACES OF INTEREST are the Commons, The Sakonnet Wine Vineyards (daily tours, and tasting), and Newport. Daytrips to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Block Island are reasonable. Two nearby wineries and a brewery to visit. The town has 2 beaches. One can be seen from the house and the other is a Dog beach at Sakonnet point for the pooches to swim at.

WALKING, BICYCLING, and ROLLER BLADING are a joy on the flat, beautiful roads and paths in Little Compton(bring your own equipment)! There are TENNIS courts in town, near the common which are rarely used and available to summer residents. There is also a playground for children to use in town. GOLF is 15 miles away in Portsmouth. Newport is only about 20 minutes away with it's tours of the local mansions and beautiful ocen walk.

Great house and yard. We really enjoyed the outdoor shower and the patio. Will make it a yearly spot

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay and will be coming back. The area is what the cape used to be like. The area is incredibly quiet with only a one lane road to the house. The yard by the sunroom is very private. The beach is great and a week long parking pass is only $40.00 so why walk?

Terrific getaway!

  • 4 of 5

My family recently completed a one week stay at this great location. While it's not directly on the water, there is a nice water view and the sunrises in the morning were worth getting up early for. The yard is a great size for running around with the kids and stretching your legs. The house isn't fancy but has all the basics you need to enjoy a week at the beach. The short drive (2 minutes) to the beach made things very easy and the reasonable weekly beach pass ($40) made for a perfect combo. The owner has kept the weekly rental price at a reasonable level compared to some of the other houses in Little Compton and this allows you the opportunity to splurge a bit more on other things when you are there. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a low key beach getaway.

great location but could use some updates

  • 3 of 5

The cottage is in a great location --very close to South Shore Beach. We had a great time and everything went well. The cottage could be adorable but needs some sprucing up. The bedrooms and living rooms are cute. The yard is spacious and well maintained. The bathrooms are fine, although one bathroom has carpeting which we found kind of strange and unsanitary. While the outdoor shower was a plus, the drainage was poor which caused the cement tiles to move and flood with water. As mentioned in the other review, some of the pans were basically unusable and should just be thrown away. The sunroom would be a great addition but we did not enjoy it once.--It has a funny smell and the furniture was old and uninviting.

Overall, the cottage was fine but has the potential to be so much better.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful comments. We have put in new pots and pans and kitchen utensils as was suggested and new sunroom furniture has been ordered. The smell you noticed was gone from the sunroom but a dead bird was found outside, near a window so that may have been what caused it for you. The main bathroom is also scheduled to be redone this winter with a new shower and floor. For the outdoor shower we will try a wooden slat floor to see if that improves drainage. Thanks again for your suggestions.

beautiful view of ocean and south shore beach

  • 3 of 5

Overall the week went well. There were some hiccups with the property but we dealt with it and the landlord was quick to fix some items that weren't quite right. Pat had good response time.

The living room was comfortable. Cable was limited but that didn't bother us. Master bedroom was spacious, bed comfortable. The Second bedroom got warm in the late afternoon. Kitchen could of been better equipped especially the silverware and cooking utensils. The outdoor shower was a plus. The only downfall is the next door neighbor just finished a second floor deck that looked down on the shower. We had to time our shower accordingly:) One bathroom is old but it worked fine.

Yard is spacious, patio has a nice afternoon breeze. Overall, the cottage is a bit dated but it worked for us.
