Welcome to the new Waipouli Beach Resort.You probably have decided this is where you want to stay and now want to know which one of the 200 privately owned condominiums to chose. Most of them have the same floor plan with two master suites and a third bath. We are one of the few who can sleep 6 people without using a sofa bed. The master suite has a king size bed and the other bedroom has two double size beds. Our PRIVATE PENTHOUSE has no neighbors on any side or above. The elevator will whisk you right up to our door. We have a mountain view of Sleeping Giant and overlook acres of swaying palm trees. We can also see a bit of the ocean and are protected from the wind so the lanai is more usable. Our designer furnishings are tasteful, comfortable and top quality. A special feature is our 55" Smart TV with expanded channel and DVR.
Kauai is pleasant year round, so we offer the same low price through out the year. OUR RATE IS ONE OF THE LOWEST OFFERED IN THE RESORT. Rates are subject to an 14.42% Hawaii tax, a $180 cleaning charge and a $25 per day Resort Fee. We know that you have the choice of many units at a variety of prices, but E-401 will give you the most enjoyment for the least money.

About Richard Madden
Richard is from Texas and Donna is from Minnesota. We met in Germany and got married in 1965. Our two married children live in Europe; a long way to go to visit the grandchildren! We spend most winters in Kauai, to get away from the California cold. (That is a joke for you people from Minnesota and Canada.)

Why Richard Madden chose Kapaa
Our first trip to Kauai was in 1980. Donna worked for United Airlines and got a 'freebie' at the resort just south of Waipouli. We came back to Kauai several times and then bought a one bedroom unit at the Pono Kai Resort, just north of Waipouli. A year later we bought a 2 bedrom. Our family and friends enjoyed many years there. When the new complex was built right down the road, we sold both units and bought our penthouse in the elegant new Waipouli Beach Resort.
What makes this Condo unique
We love the location of the complex. It is just a short drive to the north to Hanalei or to the south to Poipou. On the days the golfers take the car, the rest of the family can walk nearly everywhere they want to go. We also love our location within the complex. Our lanai is protected from the ocean wind so we can enjoy dinner and cards there in the evening.

Best Location in the Resort If You Like Quiet
We booked this unit because it advertised it was very quiet and ideal for two couples vacationing together. It definitely delivered on both of these promises. This top floor unit does not share any walls with another unit. We heard almost no noise during our entire week long stay.
The layout is ideal for 2 couples. The bedroom with the king bed has a completely private bathroom and direct access to the largest of 3 balconies. The bedroom with 2 double beds has a private bathroom that is also connected to the 3rd bathroom which has access from the entryway of the condo. This bedroom has a private smaller balcony as well. Both bathrooms have a soaker tub, separate shower and double sinks. All of us slept well during our stay as the beds and bedding are very comfortable.
The kitchen and living area are spacious and very comfortable. Being a top floor unit, the living area has a vaulted ceiling, making it feel even larger and more open. There are ceiling fans and flat screen TVs in all rooms, a DVD in the living room and a land line phone for local calls.
The only problem we had was with the A/C and we did not report it since we resolved it on our own. On one of our seven days, we spent more time in the condo and had the A/C running constantly for most of the day. That night, it seemed to freeze up and the compressor stopped running, blowing only warm air. After shutting it off for a few hours, it began working properly again. We shut off the A/C more frequently after that and did not have another problem.
We very much enjoyed the facilities at the resort. The grounds and pool are maintained impeccably. We enjoyed breakfast and happy hour at the resort's restaurant which had an unbeatable view right on the water. We also booked a tour from the activities desk. The women who worked there were incredibly helpful with general questions about the island too.
The owner of this condo prefers receiving payment by check opposed to credit card so I wasn't able to get my credit card rewards on this trip. It wasn't a deal breaker for me. If you feel the same, you will not be disappointed staying in E401!
Great rental unit and resort
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this unit and resort. It was clean, well-appointed, and Richard was very responsive from the time we booked til the time we departed and worked with us for late check out due to our flight - greatly appreciated. The resort amenities and grounds are unique and beautiful from the koi ponds and pool/spas (which we enjoyed almost daily), to the restaurant, beach, and walking paths; we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Location was superb. It was accessible to everything, and, because it was so centrally located, we had easy access to each side of the island each day for sight seeing. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Fabulous stay in Kauai
We have used VRBO for several vacations over the years. The owner of this condo was so easy to work with and the resort and condo were amazing. It had everything you would need and more. It was very comfortable and had a lot of room for our family. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a resort feel at a price comparable to a stand alone condo without a pool.
I knew the resort pool area was popular but didn't expect it to be such a hit with my 10 year old daughter. She could have spent the entire trip in that pool. It was our first trip to the island and it was a busy week with spring break and Easter. I was so thankful to have the location on the island that we did. It is central to everything and had a Safeway nearby to stock our kitchen. I know some people like the Princeville area but there are so many things to see on the north and south shore. We felt lucky to be right in the middle so we could enjoy both shores.
We also felt very safe and comfortable in this unit as it was located in the central part of the property. It was also close to the elevator so we didn't have to travel far to drop bags and groceries.
We would recommend this to anyone visiting Kauai!!!!
Perfect Location and Great Private Unit
Stayed in October 2015 for 8 nights, owner is very friendly, unit was ready up on our arrival. If we go again we will be staying in the same unit, it is very private, good views, mountain and coconut plantation along with part ocean and road views. Owner also accommodate our late checkout request which was a plus.
Walk, run or ride a bike on the new paved trail that runs along the beach for 6 miles. Great exercise and beautiful ocean views.

When Booking Online you will see a cleaning fee of $180 and a refundable deposit of $300 added to your daily rate. The Resort Fee of $25/day will not be shown, but will be added once you confirm your booking. The resort fee is for Parking, WIFI, Fitness Center, fresh pool towel daily for each registered guest.
