Overview

About the property

A 3 bedroom, 2 bath nestled home convenient to the best Asheville has to offer.

This artistic Hudson Valley style farmhouse nestled on Beaucatcher Mountain is the perfect home base for your perfect Asheville experience. Secluded, spacious, and mere moments from whatever you seek, from fine dining and antique shops to a plethora of breweries and the great outdoors. This home can accommodate up to 7 guests. Learn more and see more pics at www.AshevilleTurnHouse.com and www.facebook.com/AshevilleTurnHouse.

This 1910 farmhouse has been mindfully restored and updated to blend warm historic details with cool, clean lines. At 1,800 square feet, this two story home is light, bright, peaceful, and private. Less than 1.5 miles from downtown Asheville, with easy access to the River Arts District and the Shoppes at Biltmore. Other interesting places to visit like West Asheville, Grove Park Inn, and the Biltmore House are only a short drive or Uber ride away.

We have three bedrooms located on the second floor, accessible by a central staircase. We have a king bedroom, a queen bedroom, and a full bedroom. The king bedroom boasts an antique sleigh bed and 1800s princess dresser. This grand room gives visitors a chance to unwind and soak in the quiet of the mountainside. The original hardwood floors add character and remind us of simpler times.

The newly remodeled queen bedroom is adjoined to an antechamber complete with an antique desk, with details that feature some of the original architecture in this 100+ year old home. The headboard is a relic of the Grove Park Inn and we choose it because of the way it grants natural light into the space. To complete your rustic chic experience, a large barn door adorns the closet.

For extra space, the two couches in the living room make for additional sleeping areas. We suggest removing the back cushions for extra room while you sleep.

We have two full bathrooms, one on each floor. Each bathroom has a walk-in style shower (no tub). Both bathrooms have been remodeled with updated fixtures throughout. The upstairs bathroom was completely redone with sophisticated features, and thoughtful design in mind. There is nothing "rustic" about this bathroom, as you will find when you slide the 6-foot glass shower doors behind you. The downstairs bathroom is fully functional and provides a second location for freshening up after a long day of hikes, biking, or exploring the breweries or antique outlets of Asheville.

The main level of our home is a welcoming space. We have a large living room, complete with multiple sitting areas, a large plasma screen TV, a Roku for streaming shows of your choice, and plentiful windows for soaking up the peace of your surroundings. In the heart of the home we offer a sitting room, styled to embrace the character, architecture, and ambiance of a 100+ year old home. This space offers you the opportunity to sit, and slow down, catch up with your friends, catch up on your reading, enjoy a local brew, catch your breath. Take several moments to remember all the work you do to support your life and see that work in metaphorical parallel as you gaze at the exposed beams and bricks, laid oh-so many years ago. We all work so hard. We deserve a time to relax.

Our kitchen is a space designed for hosting and socializing. The peninsula invites you to partake with your cook and enjoy the sights, smells, and laughter. Our dining area entreats you to take a seat, tune in, and connect with your loved ones. Take your time and look at the features of this space, from exposed bricks and beams a novel set of barn doors that take the place of traditional cabinet doors.

Finally, we want to share one of our favorite aspects of our home - getting there. There is more than one way to approach our home, but nothing sets your mood better than winding over Beaucatcher Mountain from downtown. Keep an eye out for wild turkeys and black bears. Enjoy those curvy roads as you see fit, but we suggest going slow, rolling down your windows and letting the soft, fragrant air wrap around you and transport you to a magical place. A place where you find solace. A place where you find comfort. A place where you find your self. Welcome to Wayside, your home away from home.

Excellent home in Asheville!

  • 5 of 5

Loved this restored farmhouse! The perfect place to come back to after a day of shopping or massage or sight seeing - or an evening of fantastic food, wine and music!

The house was very clean and well appointed. There was a linen closet with extra towels or sheets if we needed them. The kitchen was clean and tidy with a coffee maker and some condiments. We did not cook but just had snacks after being out on the town all day.

We drove back and forth during the day but then took Uber or Lift at night. Both options are super easy, fast and inexpensive. I can't remember how far the house is from the center but it wasn't more than 5-7 minutes (I think).

Emerson was very helpful and communicative. He promptly answered my questions and sent me a list of restaurant recommendations. He was also available by text during our stay.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - in fact, I plan to book it this summer!

Loved it!

We had a wonderful time! The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We were right in town and used Lyft which was almost as cheap as paying for parking. I cant wait to come back for another visit!

Fantastic Birthday weekend

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house for my wife’s 30th birthday and we had a blast. There were 3 couples that all were very comfortable. The owners did an amazing job of ensuring that we had all that we needed, they even left beer in the frig and wine in the cabinet. My wife will remember this birthday for many years to come!!

Cute house and a great location.

  • 5 of 5

My family met in Asheville for a destination holiday. The house worked wonderfully. It had plenty of space and a great location to get into town. But it is located on a hillside so when you are at the house it is very peaceful.

We loved the house—it was perfect for our family of 5. The house is well located a few minutes to restaurants and the Biltmore. Emerson was a wonderful host, extraordinarily thoughtful and very easy to communicate with. We would stay here again!

Peace and quiet in beautiful Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this house and enjoyed a week of peace and quiet. The house is spacious and is in a great location. The neighborhood is tranquil and the house is located fairly close to the main streets and highways that you need to take to get to the Biltmore, Grove Arcade, etc. The bathrooms are modern and very nice. The beds are comfortable and the AC / heat are super. We would go back again.

About The Owner

We work in both Maryland and North Carolina, where most of our family resides, so we bought our Asheville home and love this place! We travel back and forth many times in the year. We have a daughter named Scarlett, born in 2013, and a cat named Eli! We love to hike, drink beer, and explore the ever-growing food scene in Asheville. It is an amazing, historic city full of character and unique people. It is a wonderful place to be!
