Visit to Dundonald
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Dundonald. Our cottage, The Old Orchard was perfectly located in lovely countryside and excellent for sightseeing in Belfast and surrounding coastline. Ideal for families and pets (plenty of enjoyable walks). Accommodation was first class, all bedrooms with en-suites ideal and kitchen was very well equipped. Overwhelming hospitality from our Host. Will certainly return some day and recommend to our friends.
QUAINT & PERFECT
Such a beautiful hidden secret - don’t tell everyone or you will never get the opportunity to stay there. Peaceful, relaxing and Penny was ever so accommodating. So wish we had more time - was such a wonderful place to return to everyday after or day/night time adventures
Oh Tina you are most kind! Thank you for your very kind review. So so glad The Old Orchard lived up to expectations and that you enjoyed your stay in our little gem in the country.
An escape to the country that’s not to far...
Amazing, clean, warm, comfortable and a fantastic country setting that was still so close to shops and city life. Our host was so thoughtful and accommodating. She made our family of two adults and two children at home and was so welcoming. Our little try of jams, coffee, tea and bread was such a thoughtful touch and greatly appreciated. Our two children especially enjoyed the toys and running around outside with the trees. The location was fabulous in the country however it was still so close to shops and city life that it made our stay so memorable .
Thank you so much for such a positive review. I am delighted you found The Old Orchard suitable for your needs. It was a delight to have you all to stay and I hope to welcome you back here again in the future.
Excellent holiday accommodation
Really enjoyed our holiday in this property. There was every thing in it we needed. Owners are extremely nice and very helpful.
Many thanks for your very kind comments. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and found everything to your liking at the cottage.
Perfect for us and our dog
The location suited us perfectly and have place to walk the dog right next to the property was a bonus. Really comfortable stay in the property. Penny was an excellent host. Would I stay again? Of course :-)
Thank you Clive. Delighted you found the property suited your needs. We really are so lucky to have so many walks and fields so close to the property - lovely to have owners and dogs to stay. Looking forward to welcoming you all back again. Penny
Warm and friendly welcome awaits.
Only 8 miles from Belfast city centre this is an ideal base for town and country. Located on the Ards peninsula there were lots of lovely locations to visit. One reason we picked this cottage, one of the bedrooms with en suite was located on the ground floor. No stairs to climb! Penny the owner was very welcoming and approachable. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. Accomodation warm and homely.
Carolyn, thank you for your lovely review. I am delighted You found The Old Orchard warm and homely. We do try to give a ‘home from home’ experience. Do hope we get to see you again. Thank you.
The Old Orchard nestles in the heart of the countryside yet only 7 miles from Belfast city centre.
The Old Orchard is ideally situated for City Breaks in Belfast. It provides the visitor with excellent shopping and eating opportunities as well as places to visit and things to do. (Queen's University Belfast, The City Hall, the Waterfront Hall and the newly restored Albert Clock to name just a few)...
Dundonald & Comber have easy access to both Asda & Tesco supermarket chains. Open 7 days a week. Both villages have good post offices open 6 days a week.
From Belfast take the A20 towards Newtownards. At the Elk Inn / Russells Wine Shop take the A22 towards Comber. After 1 mile you will pass through a staggered junction, continue up a slight hill and enter the country. After two bad bends you will see Peartree Hill on the right hand side. Pass through the stone pillars, the entrance to The Old Orchard is through black gates and white pillars on the right hand side 300m up this lane.
From Dublin take the M1 Saintfield exit and follow signs for Carryduff/Saintfield. At Carryduff follow all signs for Comber. Just before entering Comber, take A22 to Belfast (turning on left). Follow all signs towards Belfast. After the Billy Neill School of Excellence (football pitches on right) take the turning on the left marked Peartree Hill. Follow as above.
