I am a mother to a spunky 10 yr old, a Brooklyn based chef with a catering business and an yoga instructor. Have owned this home since 2002 and have rented it successfully for the last 11 yrs. This home was a diamond in the rough when I found it and for 3 years since been a labor of love to convert it into this beautiful home that I am able to share with travelers from around the world. I feel blessed to own this treasure and provide memorable experiences for our guests and on occasion be able to escape the city with my daughter and enjoy the home for ourselves and our family.
Anna Roy purchased this villa in 2002
The house is less than 2 hrs from NY, easy access by Shortline bus from Port Authority to Monticello, great for groups of 8 or less. This house is on 10 acres of private hillside property, overlooking the magnificent Catskills mountains. Close to neat little towns like Jeffersonville, Calicoon, Harrisburg and Livingston Manor. Winter fun with skiing, sledding, snowboarding. It feels like you've traveled a 1000 miles away and have retreated into a tranquil place with nothing but magnificent nature all around. Bird watch, and gaze at the lovely shimmering Swan Lake, sit on the deck , wrap yourself in the big open skies and enjoy the silence. Private heated pool in the summer, great hiking trails, water recreation activities near by, working farms, farmers markets, antiquing, and Nature, nature, nature.
This property is unique in its construction, style and ideally located within 2 hrs of the city. There is plenty of acreage for children and pets to run and play freely, and away from streets making it safe. The modern construction, and up to date amenities& decorations set in a rural area makes it that much more unique. The house has been decorated by great designers, and art work by owner and artist community local and from Brooklyn
Private fenced in full size in ground pool with over the top views.
Stocked kitchen with spices and utensils and pots/pans. Serving ware and place settings for 8-10. OUtdoor bbq grill. Patio seating for 8-10.
The vacation and your house have been a dream.
Not only is the house even better than the pictures online, but the aesthetic and the art around the house make the exprience exceptional. I truly can't wait to come back....if you'll have me of course.
We will be leaving around one, and will be sure to bring the heat down and turn the water off.
I hope you enjoyed Tulum.
we were graciously invited by our friends to come spend a weekend with them at this house they had rented last August.. we had a conflict with another rental we had in fire island, and for a variety of different reasons we ended up here. Was a truly delightful getaway. We have just now completed a reservation for a week this summer and so excited. The experience cannot be really captured with the photos, but the home has a gentle soothing comfort to it and the views are indescribable. The nearby towns have a real country vibe, unlike perhaps some of the more developed towns like Woodstock... small and charming without feeling overrun by tourists. Our saturday night dinner at the 1906 restaurant in Calicoon exceeded all our expectations... we really enjoyed the town in general.
A snowy wintry day here in NYC today, no school, and i had to write about this because i cant wait to see our daughter splashing around for endless hours in the gorgeous pool. The owner/landlord has been really easy to work with. I recommend this wholeheartedly
A chalet style house, this is a truly unique property that was comfortable and very clean. We rented in late November so could not take advantage of the pool but were treated to incredible views through the wall of windows. With the leaves down you could just see the lake below. The owner very accessible and pleasant to work with.
The Swan Lake getaway is secluded and serene with an incredible view. We very much enjoyed a relaxing weekend with friends. It is a distance to restaurants so the ideal plan is to cook a nice meal in the well stocked kitchen and eat in. Linens, extra blankets and all kitchen basics were well supplied. The house is clean and bright with natural light.
What a home! Completely blown away by the beauty. Art on the walls, big open kitchen to cook in, clean and simple decorations, comfortable beds and enough for our big group. Kitchen is superbly stocked, had a lot of unusual spices as well as cooking oils and an electric crock pot that is perfect for winter stews.
The dogs loved the outdoors, the kids loved the firepit, adults loved the wine infused evenings. Such a perfect getaway from Brooklyn.
Anna is very easy to reach. we arrived later than we had hoped but she was avail and walked us through some basics about the house.
You have our 100% recommendation.
We had booked this home in hopes to get our boys out on some slopes and get them skiiing and celebrate the holidays with our visiting family. White Christmas is was far from a white snowy one we had imagined, we had a very blissful time at this beautiful home. '
We loved the lay out of the home, enough privacy for the 3 families and lots of common areas to enjoy our family gatherings near a cool futuristic looking woodstove. The skies were special every night, and cooking our family xmas eve dinner in the fantastic kitchen was a joyful experience
Due to lack of snow and rain, was hard to find activities to keep our kids engaged. We did find a bowling spot and an ice skating rink in Monticello
Couple of things we mentioned to owner
- Towels needed to be replaced. She sent the house cleaner with a few replacements to help during stay and assured us that all towels would be upgraded in the New Year
- Condiments in kitchen needed to be refilled. Low on cooking oil and some other supplies.
Other than that we found the house to be just a wonderful getaway, not fussy, but tasteful and had a feel of country house and a restful place to reconnect with nature.
Owner was responsive and checked in with us on arrival
We would love to check it out in the summer for the pool.
This home is beautifully appointed, very light, stunning views and plenty of outdoor space. We had a very easy drive up, house was easy to find . Very clean, uncluttered, well maintained, quiet and we felt very comfortable during our stay. We had a clean supply of extra towels and linens which we needed with the kids. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen and plenty of extra seating for our friends who visited for a couple of nights.
The manager showed us around the property, instructed us on use of pool and the mowing service came through once. Was very peaceful and secluded the rest of the stay. We were very fortunate with the weather and were able to use the pool everyday till sunset.
We found some great thrift and vintage shopping in the Calicoon area, as well as a great weekend farmer's market. We shopped almost daily at the Catskills Harvest market ( best bacon and beer sausages).
Arnolds & Benji and Jake were are favorite kid friendly places to eat out at.
Owner is very responsive and stays on top of any communication
We full heartedly recommend this lovely home
