About the property

This unique country cottage is situated on a spring-fed fresh water lake one block from Kenney's Beach - a sandy Long Island Sound beach staffed by Southold Town lifeguards. Designed to maximize the beauty of its pristine surroundings, the entire back of the house has French doors opening onto a deck that runs the full length of the house and picture windows offering commanding views of the lake.

In the backyard there is a hammock, outdoor shower and barbeque. The lake is perfect for kayaking and fishing.

If nature gets too loud, go on inside; you have Wi-Fi, cable, VCR / DVD player and HD TV.

There are 2 bedrooms: one with a queen bed, the other with trundle twins. Each room has a dresser and large closet. The floors are wood. The master bedroom has screened French Doors that open onto the deck so you can be lulled to sleep by the great outdoors.

The open plan living room has tile floors and an oriental carpet.

Quaint Cottage: The cottage is an open plan design with tiled floors in kitchen, dining and living rooms and picture windows and french doors to enhance the feeling of light and airiness. There is a brick fireplace with insert and comfortable seating for 6. The dining room also seats 6 comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless appliances, microwave, gas range.

The bathroom is a European style tiled room adorned with Turkish mosaics. The shower is free standing and unenclosed with a center drain in the floor.

The cottage sits on the edge of a fresh water pond which you can enjoy from the large back deck with table, chairs and chaises. From the backyard you can access the pond, and there are kayaks to use. Hammocks complete an oasis perfect for relaxation.

This home is an ideal family get-away, a place to share with friends, or perfect for romance.

North Fork Adventure: Local vineyards abound. Become an expert and impress your friends! You had better hit Tanger Mall first though, or you WILL over-buy!

In Mattituck there is a multi-plex with first run movies.

Riverhead has an aquarium, Walmart, Target, BJ's.

There are fitness centers with pilates, yoga, and state of the arts equipment located in Southold as well as several massage therapists and private spas.

Discover the secrets of the North Fork: there are farm stands everywhere. Taste Briermere's pies, frighteningly sweet corn from Harbes, fresh clams and mussels from Brauns, the best home made goat cheese at Catapanos, awesome organic veggies and salads from Sang Lee, homemade potato chips at North Fork Chips.

A little piece (peace) of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Our (Joans) little salmon colored oasis in the sun is just a relaxing piece of paradise ! You get a fresh water pond in your backyard and the sound just a 2 block "puppies" walk away, what more could a human being ask for? Well since you are asking ,vineyards a stones throw away and the amazing town of Greenport with a carousel to take your honey or your kids on ! Thanks again Joan for all of our wonderful trips to your great home and looking forward to being back again soon! Sincerely Paul and Traci K and the "Puppies"!

Wonderful cottage - perfect location!

My husband and I enjoyed our week long stay at the cottage. Comfortable and cozy with easy access to wineries, restaurants and the beach! Added bonus of the hot tub and lake make it a perfect get away.

Peaceful oasis

  • 5 of 5

Joan's cottage was a perfect way to kick off the summer. On arrival I immediately felt at home. The place is cozy and perfectly located. It is great for just kicking back and reading in the hammock or walking a block to the beach. Greenport is a short drive and has many great restaurants and shops.

Joan was very accommodating and we hope to return next summer. I highly recommend this summer retreat!

North Fork Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Joan's cottage after the holidays for a quick getaway. The cottage was cozy, clean, and comfortable. We had everything we needed for a peaceful weekend away and we look forward to renting the cottage again. Thank you for the much needed escape from reality!

Wonderful long weekend stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend (Fri-Mon) and it was perfect. Our hardest decision for the weekend was if we should enjoy the lake in the backyard or the beach just over a block away.

The cottage was perfect for the two of us. The kitchen picture might make it look small but we never got in one others way in there while making meals. The open shower in the bathroom was a unique experience! It was so windy out that we were only able to enjoy the hot tub for one evening but it was wonderful. The couch and new chairs in the living room are so comfortable - I think my husband would have been happy just reaxing in the chair and ottoman all weekend if I'd have let him.

There were ducks and swans that came to visit each morning and it was so nice enjoying a cup of coffee and seeing them just on the other side of the reeds. Very relaxing. At night, walk down to the beach and watch the beautiful sunset.

We wish we had one more night here (or more).

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for relaxation. Has a charm you'd hope for in such an idyllic setting. My wife and I spent a week at the cottage and the stresses of our busy lives melted away the minute we walked in the front door. Every need was attended to by the owner, including fresh flowers upon our arrival. Convenient to all local wineries and a selection of restaurants that rivals Napa. Need some time out from the real world? You just found your place!

Situated in the heart of North Fork Vineyards, there is plenty to keep you busy - rain or shine.

It's 12 minutes to Greenport, a quaint harbor front with hot new restaurants, antique shops, and a lively scene with dancing under the stars at the end of the town pier. From Greenport, take the ferry to quaint, historic Shelter Island where you can explore by bike and kayak or continue on to the South Fork and Hamptons.

4 public golf courses can be reached within 15 minutes. Splish Splash with water slides and wave pools is a favorite with kids, especially on a hot afternoon. And there are bike paths running along the bay or Sound.

Rain in the forecast? Wine tasting at the vineyards or shopping at Tanger Mall!.
