Colorful and cozy, we had a great time!
Everyone was so nice and welcoming! The place was very cute and colorful and we had a wonderful time. Ronaldo came and helped us alight a fire because the place gets very cold at night (although they have plenty of blankets on hand). The banana bread was a nice touch when we arrived! We liked falling asleep to the wind at night.
A great retreat for the whole family
We travelled with small children so it was important for us to have a home base to come back to. Casa Ira Rosa was just that! Off the beaten path but on the property with the owner, you have both privacy and seclusion but also get an experience a bit of living in Monteverde. Karen the housekeeper was super helpful in helping us book activities (at any hour when I lost track of the day) and left us a nice treat of banana bread that the kids devoured. Her suggestions for activities with our small children were dead on. Monteverde is a bit of a hard destination to get to but so worth the trip. Highly recommend the butterfly garden! Make sure you pack some warmer clothes for the evenings though! It’s easy to forget about the altitude and humidity when you’re coming from winter in North America.
Great little cabin, super close to the cloud forest reserve
We only had the opportunity to stay one night at this cabin, but it was great. It’s very close to the reserve but only about 10 minutes away from the hustle & bustle of town. It was a quiet and relaxing environment. The caretaker and really nice and met us with coffee and delicious homemade banana bread. I thought that was a nice touch. The house was super clean and had everything we needed for our short stay.
Great little spot nice home for a short stay in the area
We really enjoyed the hospitality - Especially the killer banana bread!
Great location, helpful caretaker, beautiful Monteverde!
The cabin is basic, and it was very damp - of course, in the cloud forest - and cool. Firewood (first box) was not provided as stated in the book, so the dehumidifier is essential to use. That said, the furniture is updated and the wood floors are beautiful. The kitchen utensils are well worn and could use some upgrading, eg. clean sponge, sharper knife, potholders, paper towels maybe? A sink stopper in the bathroom would be nice for contact lens wearers, also some face clothes. The safe was not functional. However, the price is definitely excellent and the caretaker and her daughter (who translated) were very kind. The welcoming gift of fresh banana bread and coffee was a nice treat. We loved Monteverde and the friendly folks we met there.
Perfect little cottage in the Cloud Forest
This place was perfect for our family of 5. It was nice a secluded outside of town and just a few minutes from the Monteverde Reserve. Karen was very helpful at booking us a tour and answering any questions we had. It was very cold at night, but we were prepared from reading past reviews and packed some warm sweaters and socks. There was lots of blankets to keep us warm. Defeniatly would stay here again! Thank you for helping us make our first Costa Rican Experience amazing!
