Great location, helpful caretaker, beautiful Monteverde!
The cabin is basic, and it was very damp - of course, in the cloud forest - and cool. Firewood (first box) was not provided as stated in the book, so the dehumidifier is essential to use. That said, the furniture is updated and the wood floors are beautiful. The kitchen utensils are well worn and could use some upgrading, eg. clean sponge, sharper knife, potholders, paper towels maybe? A sink stopper in the bathroom would be nice for contact lens wearers, also some face clothes. The safe was not functional. However, the price is definitely excellent and the caretaker and her daughter (who translated) were very kind. The welcoming gift of fresh banana bread and coffee was a nice treat. We loved Monteverde and the friendly folks we met there.
Our stay was absolutely amazing! We arrived at night during the rainy season and needed a little help finding the place. Gabriela was extremely helpful over the phone. When we arrived, Karen, the caretaker was there to greet us with a delicious loaf of banana bread and coffee! We were very close to the Monteverde cloud forest reserve, which we highly recommend everyone to visit. We were there early November and it did get pretty cold at night. There is no heat but they have plenty of warm blankets and wood for the wood stove. We would definitely stay again!
Perfect little cottage in the Cloud Forest
This place was perfect for our family of 5. It was nice a secluded outside of town and just a few minutes from the Monteverde Reserve. Karen was very helpful at booking us a tour and answering any questions we had. It was very cold at night, but we were prepared from reading past reviews and packed some warm sweaters and socks. There was lots of blankets to keep us warm. Defeniatly would stay here again! Thank you for helping us make our first Costa Rican Experience amazing!
Comfy rainforest home right next to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
The 5 of us had a wonderful stay in this little gem in the rain forest. Comfortable beds, kitchen with all the essentials, hot water showers, and even a wood stove with wood provided. Nothing at all to complain about! And a 10 minute easy walk to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve with the hummingbird paradise right outside it at the little coffee shop/eatery. We also visited the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve and recommend the little loop with the observation tower for birds. We took a zip line tour with 100% Aventure and that was thrilling. This home is a great base to visit the Monteverde area. Karen even had fresh baked banana bread for us and was happy to answer any questions for us.
Cute cottage in the cloud forest!!
Amazing! We arrived after dark in the rain (rainy season) and Gabriela helped us find the place over the phone. Karen the caretaker was there waiting for us with a fresh baked loaf of banana bread, which was really delicious. Karen stayed and showed us everything in the house and was very patient with our survival Spanish. She helped us arrange a tour guide through the hanging bridges at Selvatura Park for the next day. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is 1km from the Monteverde cloud forest reserve and highly recommend the night walk. We can’t wait to come back soon!
Monteverde Cloud Forest Vacation
Our stay at casa Ira Rosa was excellent, the house was clean, well stocked, walking distance to the park and fairly close to the town of Santa Elena . While the house was great the very best part was the “Costarican Hospitality” we received from Rolando and Sonia. We had some issues and found ourselves without a place to stay earlier and they were very accommodating. Rolando also was kind enough to offer us some coffee and fresh bread/cheese, delicious. They gave us tons of useful information and advice. Karen was also very helpful/informative as well as being kind enough to help us with reservations for the tour the following day. When we returned home from our first adventure we were pleasantly surprised by a fresh homemade banana bread and a package of coffee from the local Monteverde “El Trapiche Coffee Farm” I highly recommend this place and hope to return soon. Thank you for making us feel so welcomed and at home.
