About Jake Britt & Diana Vigneau

We are a family of 4. Jake is retired and Diana is a veterinarian. Our adult daughter, son, and daughter-in-law are involved in music and the performing arts. We bought this property in 1999 and totally renovated and added on to it in 2001, naming it The Looney Moose. We use this property frequently, sometimes for the entire summer, sometimes for part of the summer. It is available for rental all year long.

Jake Britt & Diana Vigneau purchased this house in 2001

Why Jake Britt & Diana Vigneau chose Sebago Lakes Region

From our, admittedly biassed, point of view, this property has it all. It has a beautiful lakefront, with a small sandy beach, retaining wall and shallow entry. Having been built in the 60's, it is positioned less than 100' from the water, with an unobstructed view. The original boathouse was re-built in 2005. Our love of loons and moose is reflected in the 'Looney Moose' decor which is both comfortable, tasteful. The kitchen, bedrooms, and common areas are well equipped. It is a 4-season home: peaceful in the summer, cozy in the winter, beautiful in the fall and spring.

What makes this house unique

Central air. Boathouse. Dock. Screened porch, three decks, including one on top of the boathouse. Privacy. Shallow-water entry. Swim raft. Four full baths, including one with a jacuzzi tub. Two master bedroom suites. Spacious family room plus living room. Basement office. Wi-fi. Grand piano (for pianists only). Kayaks. Recently re-built stone fireplace. New outdoor fireplace. Our renovation maintained the 'cabin' feel while adding modern conveniences.

Very Special Place

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place! We were fortunate to stay at the Looney Moose in July for several weeks. The home is so charming and inviting. It is close enough to town for a run/jog but also tucked away in a nice quiet cove. We loved the sunsets, the floating dock with the slide and diving board, the boathouse for our boat and the fully equipped kitchen /outdoor grill for big family meals. We have been coming to the area for years and The Looney Moose is the best. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Owner's Response: We agree wholeheartedly! We love the Looney Moose too. We are so happy that you were able to enjoy an extended period of time at our home away from home. We enjoy sharing it with others.....when we are not enjoying it ourselves. Diana Vigneau

One of the best on Long Lake

  • 5 of 5

We have rented the Looney Moose in mid July four times over the last six years, from two to four weeks per rental. Due to our teens' scheduling issues this year, we will cannot rent the property and are going to miss it immensely. We have been renting on Long Lake every year since '95 and can say without hesitation that this is a premier property! It has an excellent kid safe waterfront with a great sandy beach, a gradual slope sandy lake bottom excellent for swimming, and a dock you can jump off of. You can easily swim to the float (has a slide and a diving board) from the beach or the dock. If you bring a boat, this is one of probably ten properties on the lake that has a boat house. I usually began my day with a walk into Naples to get the paper, and, if for some reason I lost my motivation, I would stop at the little coffee shop about 1/4 mile down the road from the Looney Moose. One of the 'issues' of staying at the Looney Moose is that it is easy to lose one's motivation as the place is incredibly relaxing. The house itself is not your average 'camp' as it has four bedrooms, three full baths including a jacuzzi and a half bath or two. Also, the house has living rooms both downstairs and upstairs, affording great privacy. That being said, almost all of our time is spent on the screen porch overlooking the lake. If you desire a sun deck, one can be found off the master bedroom on the top floor. (The boat house roof is also a huge deck). If you fish, throw a line with a hook off the dock and you will catch something- guaranteed. If there ever was a property to enjoy a summer vacation on a lake, this is it as it lack nothing in the way of comfort, convenience, and fun. It is not necessary to have a boat at this property as there are kayaks and water toys. If you want to rent a boat, the Long Lake Marina is just down the road in Naples. If you like to sail, call SportHaus in Bridgton and they will drop off a Sunfish at a very reasonable rental rate. if you just like to sit and relax, you can do that too.

Retreat with just the right amount of style

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully renovated, log home, situated with gorgeous lake views, is a perfect place to decompress and have fun. What I really love about this house is the variety of places you can sit outside and just enjoy your surroundings -sit on the deck off the bedroom, screened porch, boat house deck,or stretch out on the lawn or small beach at the water's edge.

The house is perfectly equipped with everyting you'd want if your thing is cooking,or barbaqueing. Easy to enjoy the water and the lake isn't too busy with boats -so it's a peaceful atmosphere.

The house is newly renovated and decore is rustic yet has great accents of design and novelty. Everything in the house is in working order and it is spotless.

Perfect Maine vacation spot.
