Our favorite place on St. John
My wife and I and our two boys stayed at Watermelon Villa at the end of July. We have been to St. John multiple times and have stayed at a different villa each time. This is the first time we've said, "We're definitely staying here again." The place was spotless. and outfitted with everything we needed for our stay. The view is breathtaking at any time of the day or night. The breezes coming up the mountain make the nights very pleasant. Our boys enjoyed the pool very much. The screened in second floor balcony is great. We ate every meal out there. Looking forward to our next trip already.
Family of 6 STJ vacation
This was our family's first visit to ST John. Our stay at Waterlemon Villa was perfect! The views from the terraces, the open kitchen/family area and pool were ideal for us. Also, after reviewing many homes, we appreciated that all 3 bedrooms were in the main house. With kids ages 7-16 it was nice to know that we were all under one roof.
The pool was a perfect ending to our days at the beach. We were able to cool down and relax before getting cleaned up and heading to dinner.
Our kitchen was very well equipped, and the appliances were very nice and appreciated!
It was also very thoughtful to have a variety of coolers available depending on how long we were planning our beach day to be.
The bedrooms were comfortable with the stand up fans and the ceiling fans combined. As we were there in July and there is no A/C, the temperature didn't really drop below 80 at night. The fans kept us very comfortable and we had no issues sleeping.
Waterlemon Villa was a great spot for us, thank you for sharing your home!
A Relaxing Week in a Wonderful Home
The whole family was awed when we walked in! A perfect space for a family of 5, with plenty of room for everyone to relax, including the large screened porch which was our morning coffee and reading spot, along with the open porch on the downstairs level for views and pictures. From the downstairs bedrooms, loved being able to step out onto the porch in the morning to see the spectacular sunrise over Coral Bay. The house was well-equipped, plenty of furniture, well-stocked kitchen and stuff for a day at the beach like towels, cooler and chairs. The pool deck was also a great spot to hang out and enjoy the view in lounge chairs. We used the fans throughout the house when we were home, and with the breeze that kept the temperatures comfortable. The location allowed us to explore several beaches within 15 minutes, including family-favorite Maho Bay (with close-in snorkeling and paddle board rentals). There were enough nearby restaurants for us in Coral Bay offering a variety of food, and we also cooked at home using the grill on several occasions, and enjoyed dinner on the screened in porch (close-by grocery store in Coral Bay). The driveway is steep and narrow, and does take some getting used to coming and going, which is why everyone rents Jeeps. Very helpful that we were guided to the house once we arrived on St. John via the ferry. Overall, we loved the quieter Coral Bay area (we did spend one day in the Cruz Bay area on the 4th of July) and would definitely come back to Waterlemon Villa.
Much needed rest...
We really enjoyed our week at the house. The view is amazing and we loved the Coral Bay quiet side. Everything we needed was just a short drive away, groceries, restaurant and a couple of nice shops. The beaches for lounging and snorkeling were so close. We were totally able to unplug. At the house was comfortable beds, an updated kitchen and balconies where we spent most of our time just gazing out at the ocean. You could not ask for more! We enjoyed the goats on the drive up to the house and the occasional donkeys that hung out below. Always something to see!
Gorgeous view and home
The villa and its location are simply stunning! The decor is very appealing, the pillows and sheets are super soft, and the screened-in porch is the perfect place to spend a relaxing morning. Everything is exactly as pictured, but the view is even more beautiful. The kitchen has top-notch cookware and everything you could need for preparing any meal. The outdoor shower was so fun and refreshing! The drive in is definitely an adventure, but only added to the fun. Coral Bay is a beautiful location... So glad we decided to stay on the quiet side of the island! Can't wait to return!
Charming blue villa
The villa was very spacious, well-equipped and tastefully decorated. It was even better in person than in the pictures. We spent most of our time on the screened-in deck, which had a great view and comfortable furniture.
The kitchen had everything we needed, and the bathrooms had lots of towels and soap. I enjoyed the outdoor shower, and the beds were very comfortable. There is no A/C, and I'm used to sleeping in a cool room, so it was a little warm for me at night, but there is a quiet ceiling fan and a strong standing fan, so I got by. There were ceiling fans in every room, which made the temp comfortable during the day, and the decks were cool and breezy. We enjoyed having the pool and the grill.
The drive up to the house was a little harrowing, but so are some of the island roads.
Overall, the house is very comfortable and had many little details that made for a great stay!
Coral Bay is a quaint, laid back village on the eastern end of St. John with easy access to the beautiful beaches of the North Shore as well as the more remote East End, Kiddle Bay & perfect Salt Pond Bay. You can hike various trails from Coral Bay or ride horses around the area. There are six delicious & varied restaurants, two small grocery stores, and several clothing and gift shops. Cruz Bay & the ferry dock are 20 min to the west where you will find lots of bars, restaurants & shopping. You can rent or charter boats or book excursions from either locale. People are welcoming & friendly everywhere on St. John so come & explore!
Golf: Although there are no golf courses on St. John, there are several on St. Thomas. Mahogany Run golf course is 15 minutes from the ferry dock in Red Hook, St. Thomas, which is a 15 minute boat ride from Cruz Bay.
