A 'Sainsbury's' supermarket and other shops are located across the road. Local bus stops are also situated across the road and there are a number of buses into the centre of town which takes only 5 minutes. If walking; to the east end of the city centre it is about 15-20 minutes. To Holyrood Palace, the foot of the Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament and The Queens Park, it is only a 10 minute walk. It is excellent for visitors; with theatres, galleries, cinemas, shopping, pubs, restaurants, and other attractions within easy reach.
Although the property is good for families, it is also ideal for couples and people travelling alone.
Very good accommodation for a very fair price. It was clean, comfortable and the area felt very safe. Gill was helpful and friendly and responded quickly when we had some questions. Highly recommended!!
My husband and I spent 4 nights in this flat and found it to be clean and well-appointed. There is a lovely Sainsbury's grocery just across the street which makes it easy to pick up breakfast and snacks. But we found the location excellent - just one block away from many major bus routes to take us to the area we wanted to tour each day...Leith, Princes Street, Botanical Gardens, etc. This was exactly as shown and described in pictures. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Cheers!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The flat is clean, quiet, centrally located and (mercifully) in a neighbourhood free from the tourist crowds. Gill is warm and helpful. If you're the sort who fancies a walk up to Arthur's Seat (which we did every day), then this flat is where you want to be. Convenient shopping right across the street. And all at a great price. Thanks, Gill!
I could not possibly have chosen a better accommodation for myself as a single woman traveling alone. Gill was so very warm and friendly right from the start and the flat has absolutely everything one could need to feel right at home right away, and I did. Excellent, safe location with gorgeous views to Salisbury Crags and I think I spent more time in the Sainsbury across the street than anywhere! Copious transport available though I was able to walk literally everywhere I went - I even had a car rental that I used only once for the trip to Roslyn Chapel! I even managed to cook a nice dinner for a friend while there. I must say I fell completely in love with Scotland, with Edinburgh and with this flat. I cannot wait to book again - thank you so much Gill, you're wonderful!
Apartment was in a good quiet location. My wife and I stayed in the bedroom and our daughter slept on the fold out couch, Both were very comfortable. Grocery store was right across the street. Easy access to the Royal mile and Princess Street by bus or by walking. We walked into town every day (~20 minutes). If this is to far a bus stop is ~1 block away. The Royal Mile was fantastic. We visited the Castle and Holyrood Palace and everything in between. Camera Obscura and the underground haunted tour were very good. We also managed to climb to the top of Arthur's seat and Nelson's Monument for fantastic views of the city and the Firth of Fourth. Train station is in the middle of town making it easy for short day trips. We also rented a car and drove to Glamis Castle and St Andrews. The drive back from St Andrews was right along the water (beautiful). Drivers beware!!! It was difficult driving on the opposite side of the road and the other side of the car. The roundabouts can be confusing even with a GPS. Once out of the city it was much easier. The only criticism I have is the apartment is on the third floor making it a little tougher to carry up your luggage. Overall I would highly recommend this apartment and this city for a vacation.
We really enjoyed our stay at Gill's apartment. She is a love! The location is great as it is in a private non touristy part of the city. The bus stop is very close as is a wonderful grocery store. We walked to town and used the bus with no problems. Down the way are some pubs and take away stores as well. We enjoyed our hike of Arthur's Seat which is a 15 minute walk away from the apartment. The apartment is very clean and cozy. Gill even left us with some Scottish treats and we loved that there was instant coffee and tea available! Very thoughtful. One of the neighbors told us if we needed anything, to give him a hollar. The apartment is very quiet and the bed was comfortable. You could stay right downtown where it is loud and expensive or you could stay here where the price is right and the city is easily accessible. The only thing that could make this apartment even more lovely than it was would be private internet service. Thank you Gill!
