We are avid hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. We love to travel but always look forward to coming home to the Shawangunks. We would be glad to share our favorite hikes and walks with you in the Gunks and Catskills.
Theresa purchased this House in 1987
Why Theresa chose Pine Bush
This area is filled with hiking and outdoor opportunities. We were attracted to the Gunks at an early age and have made it our home because of the natural beauty and proximity to Sam's Point Preserve, Minnewaska Preserve and the Verkeerderkill Falls.

It's a castle in the woods! I love that the owner included some of the story of it's origins. I also truly appreciate that they really preserved the original feel of the house. Being there we couldn't help but feel respect for the history preserved inside. It felt like a step back to a simpler time. It was incredibly relaxing to stay here.
One of our days we spent exploring the city of Manhattan. After the rush of navigating trains and subways, coming back to The Castle just felt like coming home.
The nature around us was beautiful! There were many deer we could see, chipmunks everywhere. When we were on the trail in the backyard there were even two chipmunks that were following us as we walked. The best though was while we were relaxing in the living room, we noticed a little fox sniffing around the front door. We don't have foxes where we're from, so it was an adorable sight!
If I come back to New York, I definitely want to stay here again!
It was an 11 out of 10!
Was perfect for our group of seven. Convenient for our tours. Beautiful setting in the woods. Decor inside was very nice, very clean. Loved the pond. If there was a downside, we had trouble with the fireplace.
The castle felt like home
Completely enjoyed our time with friends at the castle. Home is well cared for and the grounds were so relaxing. Would stay again!
Fit for royalty
This property was exquisite for our family of four. From arrival until checkout, we enjoyed every minute.
The "castle" is a beautiful structure inside and out with the gazebo and grounds providing a peaceful and relaxing natural retreat.
Great care is taken of the whole property and amazing attention to detail is evident in everything from the architecture to the decor and furnishings to the detailed house manual. The house also featured every convenience that we could have desired.
Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer and we hope to return soon!
Stone Castle Love
We were thrilled with the castle and all amenities. We arrived to find it spotless, and ready for us to relax and unwind. The information packet and maps that were available were an assett!!! We would recommend this VBRO to anyone!!
Beautiful and relaxing
Clearly much loved and cared for house. We loved all the little details, beautiful furnishings and sparkling cleanliness. The kids thought sleeping in a castle was magical. Wonderful sleep/rest in comfy beds. Our group enjoyed being together in the big airy common spaces, but appreciated the privacy of the many bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms.
