Why Sheila and John Gordon chose Morrilton

We recently had the opportunity to purchase the Edge House from Lynn and Kathy Edgerton and we wanted to continue to share the remarkable experiences of Petit Jean Mountain from the beautiful Edge House. With the open design of the home, the view of the Arkansas River and Valley washes in surrounding your time spent inside. You can take in this unforgettable view and all its changes from day into night and season to season, from the climate controlled comfort of the sun room all while enjoying a cup of hot coffee! Then, venture outside for the many viewing and hiking opportunities that await you there.

Being an Arkansas resident we love to spend time hiking the trails and exploring Petit Jean Mountain State Park, dining at Mather Lodge and I love to photograph the stunning views all around the park.

The hike to Cedar Falls is one of my favorites. At the end of the trail you can sit close enough to be cooled by the mist of the falls before starting your hike out or you can make your way under the falls and get a far different perspective. Seasonal changes offers a varied viewing opportunity on the Cedar Falls trail, colors change, plant and flowers are different, water levels change. Every season has its own beauty.

Loving the outdoors like we do, it is easy to get away from everything and enjoy the beauty that abounds in and around the Edge House.

The house is beautiful and comfortable on the inside. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, cooking essentials and all necessary serving items, so that you may enjoy meals in if you decide. There is a charcoal grill for cooking out and enjoying nature. A fire pit is also available to enjoy on cool nights sitting by fireside. Wifi is available, Direct TV, reading material, and some games if you like cards or board games.

We will work hard to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable and help you to enjoy the legandary beauty surrounding the Edge House, high atop Petit Jean Mountain.

What makes this house unique

The original builders thought of everything in the design of this home - like being able to see the view through the entire house, from the entrance to the sunroom. With windows on all sides of the sunroom, you can truly relax and renew 365 days a year in this gorgeous space. It is meant to be comfortable and private whether for your family, a girls getaway, a sweetheart weekend or honeymoon, this is the home for you. The million dollar view can be seen from most any room in the house - even while you enjoy your Jacuzzi bath for two. The wood stove also makes it nice and warm inside while you watch the snow falling. We love being able to climb out on our large boulders in the back and have some quiet moments in nature.

Wonderful everything + more than we needed

  • 5 of 5

The House was so comfortable and spacious for us as we got ready for our wedding at the gravesite mountain and the reception at the Mather Lodge. Being so close to both made it easy to set up, get ready take pictures and the family cook for us. The weather was gorgeous and the fire pit out back was enjoyed. A big thank you for the special decorations as we arrived with the love birds, flower petals and rhinestones. It was very sweet and we appreciate good people celebrating others. We will defiantly stay again on the future. Sincerely, Nicole

Everything was as advertised

  • 5 of 5

The property offers a wonderful view of the valley below. Definitely worth waking early morning to watch the fog burn off of the fields. House is very private and is located within an easy drive to Petit Jean State Park. House offers a quiet place to rest your head and rejuvenate. We hiked Cedar Falls and Seven Hallows trails. Both trails are definitely worth doing. Make sure to wear closed -toed comfortable, good grip shoes and bring plenty of water. Visited the Museum of Automobiles.. Definitely worth the $10.00 per adult fee. We also spent a day in Mayflower, AR at the Lollie Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. Worth the hour drive from the house. Ate at the lodge, good food at decent prices.. Also ate dinner at Coltin's Steak House in town which was very good. Our only disappointment was that the fall colors had not made their arrival in the area. However, the weather was cool and the skies were blue allowing us to enjoy our first time visit to Arkansas...

Property was excellent...everything required for visit to Petit Jean.

  • 5 of 5

The home was everything we, I and my family, needed for our stay in Petit Jean. The location was very near all of Petit Jean's attractions. The home was extremely comfortable, much room for our large group, and offered all of the comforts of home. The sun room at the rear of the home, overlooking the valley and river below, was extremely comfortable just to sit and enjoy the view or enjoy early mornings over breakfast. I can only wonder how nice this would be during a winter stay. Will certainly try and visit again in the near future.

Owner's Response: Thank you Steve! We enjoyed hosting your group and I can certainly agree that Petit Jean is beautiful in the winter. It is often fun to hike or if it's too cold or to wet, the sun porch is the next best thing to being surrounded by nature. We will be looking forward to hosting you on your next visit! God Bless!

Amazing property with beautiful river valley views

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 stayed at the Edge House over Labor Day weekend 2017. The property was everything it was billed to be, and we definitely plan to return.

The house is a well-maintained 3 BR/2BA with amazing views of the river valley below Petit Jean mountain. Inside the house was clean and had everything we needed (towels, linens, kitchen supplies, etc.) for a weekend stay. The layout of the house works well with the kitchen, main living area, and sunroom all centrally located. The dense woods on both sides of the property provides privacy from neighbors, and there are several really good spots to sit and take in the views.

The house is away from the main "traffic" (if you can even call it that) on top of the mountain, but is still within a few minutes drive to Petit Jean State Park and the main hiking trails. There also is a superb farmer's market less than a mile down the road that has locally made cheeses, meats, vegetables, etc.

All in all, Edge House is the perfect weekend mountain retreat. The new owners are terrific, as well. We literally booked the day they closed on the purchase of the property, and they went out of their way to make sure the property was ready and that we had everything we needed. Looking forward to our next stay at Petit Jean.

We would love to host your family anytime you come to the mountain to rest, relax and enjoy the trails. I could hardly tell anyone had been in the house, it looked great! Thank you all for that!
