About the property

Woodside is located in the far right corner of Colmer House, away from the drive and car park. Inside the apartment, a central hallway connects both bedrooms, the bathroom and the kitchen/lounge area.

Kitchen/lounge area

The comfy and carpeted, lightly coloured lounge looks out through large windows onto Woodside's peaceful and private garden and the woodland beyond. The lounge features a sofa and two lounge chairs, a dining table with four chairs, a coffee table and a TV with DVD player. There is also WiFi with full unlimited broadband access.

The kitchen is equiped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, toaster, washing machine and tumble dryer., as well as a large selection of pots, pans, plates, cups, bowls, glasses, cutlery etc.

Bedrooms

Both bedrooms are king-sized.

The main bedroom has a lovely pine double bed, fitted with luxurious Egyptian Cotton sheets and duvet.

The second bedroom features two single beds, also fitted with luxurious Egyptian Cotton sheets and duvets. If required, these beds can be locked together to form a single king sized bed. Please let us know which set-up you require before your visit and we'll have it all ready and waiting for you to sink into and relax when you arrive!

Garden

As Woodside is situated in the far corner of Colmer House, our garden is very quiet and peaceful. Relax in our garden chairs, or play a game of boules (provided), or fire up the BBQ (provided, but you'll need to purchase coals, which are available in the local garage shop).

Bathroom

The bathroom features a bath, shower, toilet and hand basin.

Colmer Estate is a collection of 20 individually owned properties set centrally in the idyllic South Hams. This beautiful private estate consists of 28 acres of grounds with an extensive range of indoor and outdoor leisure facilities.

The estate is home to a variety of wildlife, flora and fauna – badgers, foxes, rabbits, birds and bluebells, to name just a few. It is conveniently located for ease of access to Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Totnes, Dartmouth and Plymouth and surrounded by picturesque villages, unspoilt countryside and beautiful beaches with Dartmoor and Torbay within easy reach.

Just a short walk away you will find the California Country Inn and also close at hand are excellent places to eat in the pubs at Moreleigh, Ugborough, Ermington, and Avonwick.

At California Cross there is a garage shop open 7 days a week till late too where you will find a wide range of essential groceries and local produce and there is an excellent range of small shops in the nearby picturesque village of Modbury. Larger supermarkets are to be found in Ivybridge (Tesco), Kingsbridge (Morrisons & Tesco) and Totnes (Morrisons & Sommerfields).

The facilities for your use at Colmer are as follows:

Indoor Pool

The indoor pool is open and heated all year round – you will be given a security code to access the building.

Above the indoor pool is the fitness suite – a rowing machine, an exercise bicycle, a treadmill, a sit up frame and a bench press with weights.

There is a pay phone located at the bottom of the stairs. (Emergency 999 calls are free).

Outdoor Pool

The outdoor pool is open and heated from June to September. There is safety fencing around the pool. Next to the pool you may also enjoy playing table tennis. Bats and balls are available in each property.

Tennis Court

The all-weather tennis court is available all year round..

Laundry Room

This is situated below the indoor pool, alongside the outdoor pool. There is a coin-operated washer and dryer for your use.

Walled Garden

There is some exciting play equipment for children. There is also a boules pitch for everyone. Picnic tables are also to be found. Our walled garden is a very special, safe area and is the only place where ball games are permitted – a football goal net is provided.

Games Room

This is located within the walled garden and houses a football table, and a some games for younger children.

The Lake

The lake is well stocked with carp and a fishing license is available from any Post Office – however children under 14 can fish without a license..

There is a decked walkway from the lake area to the lower lawn area in front of Colmer House. Please enjoy and use this feature through the gunnera plantation. The decking is safe and secure and has non-slip wire mesh for your safety.

Property disappointing but Colmer Estate great

Great location and the Colmer Estate is fabulous. Both pools excellent. Property was disappointing- the furniture and decor needs updating. The pictures do not show the rest of the living room and there was no comfortable sofa to relax on in the evening. The bathroom also needs updating. On the positive side having your own washing machine and tumble dryer was very helpful and there was more privacy at this property than others on the estate.

Really spacious and lovely apartment

The apartment was set in lovely grounds which felt very private and relaxing. Good large parking space pretty close to the apartment. Apartment is really spacious with two large bedrooms and comfy beds. There were also little night lights in the hall and lounge which were very useful. Kitchen was very well equipped and clean. Apartment nice and clean throughout. The photos really didn't do it justice! The owner was very helpful and friendly and answered all my questions via email, prior to our arrival. There was even milk, cookies, snacks and wine left for us! The indoor pool was lovely, we tried the outdoor pool but weather was just a little cold to dare get in! Shame though, as the outdoor pool looked really nice and lots of places to sit and lounge around the outside. Didn't matter though because we had the indoor pool anyway and both pools are really close to the apartment, about a minutes walk.

The location was really good and near some really beautiful beaches- I'd recommend Bigbury and walking up Burgh Island. We only booked for three nights, but I'd like to stay longer next time and would definitely recommend staying at Woodside.

home from home at Woodside

Our family have stayed in on two occasions and both times we have had a fabulous week. The property is well laid out with two large bedrooms. It has a homely and welcoming feel and the private garden was fabulous for BBQS and plenty of room for the children to play. The facilites at Colmer keep the children amused - fishing, the indoor and outdoor pools , play area and plenty of woodland walks. We would definately stay here again. Thank you.
