The region Urgell and Lleida stretches from the regional capitol Lleida along the Segre river and the road C-14 up through the Pyrenees and in direction Andorra. The area around Lleida is one of Spain's most extensive plateaus, and the flat terrain makes it ideal for agriculture, olive- and fruit plantings and increasingly wine production.
The area Urgell on the other hand, is less populated, mountainous and has great nature and sceneries. Wake up to the smell of the grass and the flowers, the sounds of the birds, the locusts and the bells of the cows in the distance. Feel the dry heath taking over when the day matures. Jump in the pool and dry again in the beach chairs, that the basics of a vacation in the Lleida and Urgell region.
Impressive medieval castles
The Lleida province is known in Catalonia for its castles. In total 17 castles in different shapes and standards makes the province a magnet for people interested in medieval history or those who simply are attracted to the histories about knights, dukes, princesses, barons and the related extravagant way of living. And the kids love it!
Some of the castles are very well maintained and a few even inhabited, while others are only ruins. A very fun way to explore it is to stay in one of the medieval villages built together with one of the castles. Please request information.
